Jim Park Voting 2025 AFL Rd 24 Carlton vs Essendon August 20, 2025, 09:58:14 pm Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh or Patrick Cripps)[3] Three players at least must get a mention.[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-. Re: Jim Park Voting 2025 AFL Rd 24 Carlton vs Essendon Reply #7 – August 23, 2025, 08:05:41 pm AFL Rd 24 2025: Carlton vs Essendon:Team : B+Considering that we had the guys available that we had, I was happy enough to win. It was, after all, our first Thursday Night win of the season. That said, a little better kicking for goal and we could have won by considerably more, but we weren’t the only ones who kicked poorly for goal.It is only the 2nd time we’ve won in the final round since 2004, which is a terrible thing in itself (the other time was 2013).Votes:Not quite as hard this week to give a mere 15 votes, but it was a challenge to reward our players adequately.[2.5] George Hewett[2] Sam Walsh[2] Jacob Weitering[1.5] Patrick Cripps[1.5] Francis Evans[1.5] Blake Acres[1] Jesse Motlop[1] Harry McKay[0.5] Lachie Cowan[0.5] Ollie Hollands[0.5] Flynn Young[0.5] Adam SaadExplanations:[2.5] George Hewett: George tired in the last quarter, but still managed to get 36 possessions and 10 clearances. His first half was phenomenal![2] Sam Walsh: For the 2nd week in a row Walsh was excellent. 28 possessions in 3 quarters. [2] Jacob Weitering: Still not moving as well as he could, Jacob dominated the defence. He was impassable. He destroyed McMahon. There were times when we was a spare man, as the Drug Cheats were trying to make a spare up the ground. It didn’t work. It just allowed Jacob to be where the ball was more.[1.5] Patrick Cripps: Most other seasons Crippa’s performance would be the one we would be raving about, but George Hewett … I am lost for words.[1.5] Francis Evans: Frankie steps up again. His intelligent ball use, his kicking and his goals were another significant step forward.[1.5] Blake Acres: Acres has left his 2 best games this season to last. This week he managed 29 disposals with 8 marks for a dominant performance.[1] Jesse Motlop: Although Jesse didn’t get many shots at goal, his game this week was among his best. He got it 22 times and made things happen.[1] Harry McKay: If he had kicked straight, he would have had BOG votes again. As it was, 1 goal 4 was a let done, but his11 marks and 17 disposals as a key forward shows how dominant he was.[0.5] Lachie Cowan: Another excellent game for Lachie. 22 possessions and 7 marks, he was excellent.[0.5] Ollie Hollands: Would have been higher on the chart if his kicking was that bit more reliable, but his run and carry was excellent.[0.5] Flynn Young: His best game so far, he had the ball 19 times and kicked some nice goals.[0.5] Adam Saad: Saad was brilliant early, although he drifted out of the game somewhat. Still, for a guy who has been struggling in recent weeks, he really stepped up against his old mob.Honourable Mentions:Tom de Koning: Not the sort of performance that won us the game last time, in fact, his 37-year-old opponent got more taps, but Tom was far more effective. His ground play and marking was good. If he’d kicked that last goal he might have got the last vote, but he didn’t.Zac Williams: Another strong game from Zac, with plenty of the ball.Billy Wilson: Bill’s best game so far. His run from defence was promising.Nick Haynes: Another fine game from Nick.Lewis Young: Not huge numbers, but his opponents didn’t get a sniff either. Quote Selected
