Re: Jim Park Voting AFL Rd 1 2026 Carlton vs Richmond Reply #13 – Today at 10:26:26 am AFL Rd 1: Carlton vs RichmondWell, it was nice to win, but it should have been more. Great first half, ordinary second half: this pattern has been typical of us for far too long.Team: COur first half was really good.Votes:[2] Patrick Cripps[2] Sam Walsh[2] Jagga Smith[1.5] Jacon Weitering[1.5] Matt Carroll[1] Zac Williams[1] Marc Pittonet[1] Ollie Florent[1] Mitch McGovern[0.5] George Hewett[0.5] Cooper Lord[0.5] Will Hayward[0.5] Harry McKayExplanations:[2] Patrick Cripps: Normally if Cripps had 32 possessions, 9 clearances and 3 tackles, he would clearly be BOG. But this wasn’t normal: Cripps had a lot of shots at goal for 3 points, including missing from 15 m out. His kicking wasn’t what we needed.[2] Sam Walsh: Similar to the captain, Sam Walsh’s 30 possessions, 6 clearances and 5 tackles would normally stand out as brilliant. However, he seemed to lack something after half time.[2] Jagga Smith: Jagga’s 1st quarter, 15 possessions, was as good as any quarter from a Carlton player. However, he only managed 17 more for the rest of the game. Still, a fantastic performance from such a young player.[1.5] Jacon Weitering: Jacob didn’t get much of the ball, but he was excellent in defence.[1.5] Matt Carroll: Carroll didn’t do a lot early, but as the game wore on, his influence increased markedly. He really held his opponent to nothing while getting quality possessions himself. His only blemish was his kicking for goal.[1] Zac Williams: A much better job in defence, followed by an excellent little period as a forward.[1] Marc Pittonet: Pitto started brilliantly, but tired somewhat. He managed a goal and probably won the ruck duel.[1] Ollie Florent: Normally, 24 possessions and a good negative job would be worth more, but like a few of our players, Ollie’s disposal was not up to its usual standard. 9 turnovers hurt.[1] Mitch McGovern: Mitch was much better this round, kicking goals and taking important marks.[0.5] George Hewett: Still nowhere near as effective as he was last year, but George did take a step forward. His 23 disposals, 5 clearances and 4 tackles was more than solid.[0.5] Cooper Lord: Cooper did a solid job and managed 20 possessions.[0.5] Will Hayward: Will was solid and provided a target.[0.5] Harry McKay: H was nowhere near his best, but he managed 2 goals and took 7 good marks.Honourable Mentions:Lachie Cowan: Not yet back to his best, but he did a solid negative job.Ollie Hollands: Like a number of our players in this round, Ollie’s disposal came under question this week. He wasn’t bad, but he was certainly less effective than he has been. Quote Selected
