VFL Rd 6 2026: Carlton vs St Kilda at Carlton

This game is set down for Saturday at 12:05 at Carlton.
Our team should have a few more AFL listed players available this week. Hopefully, enough to deliver the knockout blow!

Really looking forward to this game... especially keen to see the progress of Flynn Young, Jack Ison, Wade Derksen, Billy Wilson. Hopefully B Camporeale returns to the midfield. Hopefully HOK improves. (Although Flynn, Jack and Billy should be in the seniors we know they won't get a gig... Vossy likes his faves and the tried and true).
Only our ruthless best, from Board to bootstudders will get us no. 17

It may be better if they all stick together in the VFL and grow from there as a group to unleash at a later date :D

So it seems that Cody Walker will play his first official game for the Blues this weekend, with the youngster to play in the VFL at Ikon Park. Extra incentive to tune in and watch. Hope he goes well

It's more that Vossy understands that your chances of winning games of footy diminish significantly when you have too many newbies in the team. Billy, Wade and Flynn must be in the mix - Jack needs more development - but only at the expense of other first/second year players.  Saady, the Sherriff and Georgie have to be in the mix too.

Jack may need more development, but he's coming along like a house on fire.
He's averaging nearly 3 goals a game (2.8 )

Yes, I think that he's going to be a ripper.  I suspect that he'll get his AFL opportunity after the bye.

Less than 24 hours before the game and the line-up is still unavailable. :(
Maybe there are a few people out there who needs to find their glasses.  :))

Finally!

B:  41 Matt Duffy   33 Lewis Young   47 Wade Derksen
HB:   28 Harry Charleson   37 Jordan Boyd   15 Billy Wilson
C:   31 Campbell Chesser   36 Cooper Lord   13 Blake Acres
HF:   8 Lachie Fogarty   43 Ashton Moir   45 Flynn Young
F:   39 Talor Byrne   40 Hudson O'Keeffe   30 Jack Ison
R:   56 Flynn Riley   29 George Hewett   16 Ben Camporeale
Int:   61 Dane Harvey   70 Darcy Hogg   58 Jack Sammartino  76 Cody Walker   74 Logan Prout   64 Archie Stevens   59 Cooper Vickery   62 Oliver Warburton   51 Jaiden Magor   67 Tom Evans   72 Charlie Cotter   75 Liam Farrar

Em:   77 Will Cookson

Our team doesn't look as unbalanced as it was last week, but one Emergency will definitely not play, maybe all three won't. If Flynn Young doesn't play at all again, he will go off the boil.

[1] Note that Flynn Riley is named as #1 ruck, not Hudson O'Keefe. That tells you how ordinary HOK has been lately.
Riley has his issues, but he is at least as good as Reidy. I don't know if we can afford to put him on the list with our present ruck stocks, but I'm sure someone will pick him up come MSD. Good rucks are not easy to come by.
What we will do if someone does pick up Riley in the MSD, I have no idea, as we don't have any other VFL listed rucks. Tom Stapleton? I can't say I've even seen him play yet.

[2] Cooper Lord was a little unlucky to get dropped. His stats last week were at least as good as Cerra's. On the other hand, he will be back sooner rather than later.
George Hewett: I reckon George is playing better than Cerra is at the moment, but the match committee is sticking with Cerra. He is younger and he has a longer contract; George has only one year left on his. Can this be the reason?  Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

[3] It will be interesting to see Cody Walker in action against men. The lad looked good during the pre-season. Just as long as some St. Kilda thug doesn't try to take him out.

[4] Derkson is defence. I'm a little surprised after last week, but is it because of the matchups? I hope to see him forward again.
Live Long and Prosper!
