Commonwealth Games-"Is anybody out there"

Cut back in events after the Melbourne pull out
Number of sports being contested cut in half

The once great Commonwealth Games is a shadow of it's former self.
Many athletes prioritising other competitions.
Canadian World record holder Summer McIntosh is skipping the CG to concentrate on the Pan Pacs
I suspect other Canadian swimmers may be doing the same.
A lot of teams have restricted their numbers.

The future looks bleak.

Same old commentary only barracking for Aussies.  Great achievement beating Tonga in the netball.  3 on 3 basketball - what the...

For that, I will watch if it is on.  Yes, the future is bleak, maybe that's why Melbourne was the only bidder and then had to pay to move it on.

These meets have all lost something by expanding the competitions out too much.  Once upon a time, the Olympics was all about the order of events and the events themselves were to be watched.  Now watching it is like an ADHD Australian supporter.  You go from sport to sport to sport, and end up not being invested in any one thing but watching Australia.

Its fine I guess, but its not my cup of tea.  I prefer to watch a sport rather than just our athletes.  Gives me no appreciation of the achievement being the best in a field I havent even gotten to know.
