Hahn Australia cup final

I know that soccer isnt a sport much for the average afl fan, but I was in attendance last night to witness history as South Melbourne (Hellas as they were known) became the first non A league club to lift this trophy vs Melbourne victory.  Adam Cerra was in attendance not far from me last night.  This historic win gains them entry to the Asian Champions League for next season.

Did it front of an Aami park record crowd of 29800 odd people.

Absolutely ridiculous scenes.  Would be like Port Melbourne in the vfl, jumping up against a Geelong and knocking them off in a do or die match.  Was a very even contest too, with victory going close to getting the winner on numerous occasions.   I pick geelong as theyve been a top performing club at AFL level for so long.

Sure it was penalties at the end, and it was a 1-1 draw after extra time, with Victory having scored the first of those goals in the 1st half of extra time, and South going close to scoring on a couple of occasions, but it was an unforgettable occasion for a fan base and club, that has beem somewhat frozen out of the sport at the highest level for 22 years.

Unforgettable.
