However, when you have the small forwards we have who will be non-contributors, you'd be better off starting kemp.....or cincotta...or anyone.
Overall i think our team balance is about right, i just dislike our forwardline/bench.
Brisbane beat us last year because of their smalls, not their talls. We helped lose the game by going in too tall last time. We need to pressure their smalls/runners We need to hold them accountable. Someone like Cincotta does exactly that.
Cincotta on the bench is our way of saying to Brisbane ‘there will be a late change, you just have to work out who it will be’, no way he doesn’t play
I know he breaks down and it’s hard to risk in a final. But same can be said about Orasio, and Durdin was no where near the level yesterday either.
I think Martin, if he plays 4 quarters, adds a bit of class that’s needed.
Would’ve preferred Fogarty but not available.
FWIW I’m all for trading Martin at seasons end. Or delisting.
Disappointing because a fit Martin is a great addition to our forward line bringing much needed x-factor, Moir may bring this in time but isn't fit enough to do it for 4 quarters at the moment (according to Voss). Martin's injury history will see him yield very little at the trade table.
I don't care it's obvious why we lost, we played all over the Aints early, had double the inside F50s and went to the break behind on the scoreboard.
Yep, we lacked composure and connection, a better team would have feasted on us, but we were playing St Kilda and had a chance to win the game. I must say I’m bitterly disappointed with the result because we were better than them in the last quarter and couldn’t make it stick, players will be shattered, would have loved the ball in Moir’s hand for that last shot at goal to ice the game. Not sure how we turn the emotion around should Port get over Freo, but we’ll have 2 weeks to sort that out should it happen.
Was thinking same, senior Gov will have a picnic with us bombing the ball to our smalls. Lemmey just needed to make a contest with his 200cm frame and give other players around him some opportunities in a Mason Cox type of way. He provides a ruck alternative and I thought he did well at CHB in the VFL, baffling to me how Moir got a game ahead of him.
Forecast may have a bit to do with his non selection, they’ll have a look at the state of ground after the rugby match and rain on Saturday and decide on whether his a late chance. Not ideal to debut at 200cm if the the conditions are dead against you.
Both of those need to come back via the seconds. No automatic selections. No passengers.
Martin is quality but fragile, I wouldn’t wast any games he can play in the seconds unless he needs to find fitness, but I agree with your sentiment in general.
HTF Fantasia keeps getting a game is beyond me. The photos must be incriminating.
I don't think he's been all that bad, albeit his possession count has been low, he definitely has a touch of class when he gets his hands on it. You also need to look at who he is keeping out and I'm not sure anyone is knocking the door down ATM. This will definitely change in the coming weeks as Martin, and Motlop become available.
Absolutely agree. I was asked last night before the game who I'd prefer to win, all bias against the filth aside, and I picked the Pies. Much prefer to face them next week.
No doubt if we make it through playing the pies would provide added motivation, let’s get through today and then we can greet them with our ‘blue fury’!
We’ll Ross Lyon wasn’t exactly glowing about us after the match, stared that he knew what we were capable of which is a what we brought in the second half and good teams will be able to handle it, I guess that means the Saints aint a good team. No one does ‘bitter’ better than Ross in a losing press conference, flog!
I think that there is still an underlying question in the back of most Carlton peoples' minds... "Can we be trusted yet?"
Port was great, Collingwood exceptional but sometimes I think we are most vulnerable against our peers, and we come up against a couple of those in the next four weeks. St Kilda, Gold Coast and GWS are all around us and teams that we should beat, given out recent form......but can we be trusted yet???
Trick is not the view them as our peers, I reckon we've gone past a couple of them at least!
