I just can't let that kicking aspect of the game go, its been a problem all year and there is no end in sight. We need to get that rectified before it costs us dearly. It was a really embarrassing moment in what was a very pleasing game.
Based on the way we belted GC the other week, we should account for the Hawks relatively easily.
However, the Hawks are an up & coming outfit who have claimed a decent scalp this year so it depends on which of our teams turn up on the day, could end in tears for us.
CARLTON is toying with the possibility of calling on injury plagued midfielder David Cuningham for his first senior game in 763 days in a desperate search for forward half class to pull the Blues out of their current rut.
Cuningham has impressed in his recent return to the field in the VFL, impressing with 26 disposals and two goals on unrestricted minutes in the win over Essendon.
Carlton is also hopeful of regaining experienced pair George Hewett (concussion) and Marc Pittonet (hand) after missing the past two weeks.
But, we also must weed out those responsible for the bad attitude and culture in the club, even if it sets us back in the short term. We have a decent enough list to properly compete, as we found last year, but right now it will all be just wasted unless something is done.
Every freakin' time O'Brien took a mark, he stood still and slowed everything down and then more times than not, kicked it directly to a Dees player.
WTF
Who thought it was a good idea to give him a rookie contract ?? Whoever you are, you should be sacked straight after O'Brien is !!
We need to scour the land in the off-season for another two fowards, not midgets, players of mid-size who can mark & kick goals. Every time we looked like we were going to get on a roll, Fritzch or Van Royen marked and kicked a goal. We need players like them, we are two predictable with the current Curnow/McKay combo because if they fail, so does the whole team. The move of Young to the forwardline completely changed the whole dynamic which exemplifies why we need another couple of capable soldiers..
I'm really struggling with Acres, turns it over too often for my liking.
And Dow is not out of his depth at this level, he just looks like he lacks a bit of confidence which is to be expected after the way he has been sent to purgatory.
We do have some dumb footballers though, wrong options kill us every week.
There was some very good passages of play which was an improvement on previous weeks but until we find a way to kick at least 10-12 goals per week, we are never a chance.
I've watched most of the reserves games via live streaming this year, and dows kicking is deplorable. Last week against Sydney there was a passage of play where he was all by himself 60 metres from goal, and managed to kick the ball in between 2 targets, and the ball dribbled out of bounds .
If that is his stock standard ability, it beggars belief as to why we drafted him in the first place !!
Port Adelaide captain Tom Jonas has been sent back to the SANFL to find some form.
FMD ..... if it is good enough for the team sitting second on the ladder to drop their captain due to poor form surely our mob should be dropping players who aren't delivering, especially serial offenders.
