Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 10: Post Game Prattle: Carlton vs North Melbourne
I'd hope that the lesson learned is work harder earlier and we won't have to run you into the ground at the end!

I agree.

This is the first time I had an opportunity to go to a game this year and despite the loss and the 1st quarter, it was enjoyable. I like the look of the youngsters.
I am still somewhat concerned that we are so reliant on our aging players like Murph, Gibbs and Kruze in the midfield. Hopefully we have a strong focus on recruiting quality midfielders in the off season.

I thought Bolton's 8 man defence changed the game but it is a taxing game plan and I think we ran out of legs in the final quarter.
This may work for a full game when the youngsters have a more pre-seasons under the belt but I am not sure if it will win us too many games playing this way this season.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Round 10 Green Shoot of the Week

Both these were certainly ' Wow ' moments in the game.
However the fact SOJ ran straight into him to start with no lateral movement was concerning.

That Williamson one hand gather and turn was extra special.  Only a very small percentage of elite players in the game can do such breath taking acts.

Yes, the Williamson one handed was magnificent.
I also thought some of SPS's tackles were pretty impressive, especially the one where he appeared to injure himself in the forward pocket.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Loyalty
I'm wondering if club's loyalty will stay with the AFL.
Given draft concessions, rule changes, academies/boundaries, inconsistencies with match review panels, perceived issues with compensation for free agency, stupid fixtures, drug cheats keeping Brownlow medals etc... I am sure it won't be long until someone gets sick of it and creates a new league.

If Carlton left the AFL and joined a new league, would you follow?
My loyalty is with the Blues!

Just a word on Thomas.

Was at the ground and had good seats and watches a lot of work off the ball.

One thing I noticed was Thomas directs and leads well well works off the ball and from what i saw is respected by all even the senior guys. Was directing simmo where to stand  :o.

I agree he will never be the player he was but I think we might take something from his experience and leadership.

On another point this is why any discussions putting him in the same basket with Gibbs is crap.

One is younger has the body and still the ability but refuses to work hard when the pressure is on while the other doesn't have the body but is a real professional and while his work with footy is only average he sets a great example for the youngsters and I think we still need that sort of player.

Just that if you rate him on what he cost us it's a massive fail -  but if you can get past that we can still get something out of his time in blue.

I am pleased he adds something to our team. Watching on TV meant he didn't do a lot and what he did do was generally poor. His body has failed him and my view is that he is now a liability. I think I would prefer blooding a young player now instead of Daisy. It's unfortunate as I had high hopes for him.

Didn't find Everitt too bad. Kicked a couple and does kick straight, a rarity here. Kicked 31 last year. That dropped mark hurt though. Alot hurt that cost us.

Thomas may come in for Buckley although the latter might've just had a bad game too so we don't want to be too hasty. Jaksch in for White and go forward to help Casboult.

Buckley put a huge amount of defensive pressure on. The processions and goals will come. I will be surprised if he is dropped.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Daisy charged for striking Laidler! - can accept 1 game suspension
Sorry, not doubting your contacts and the info above is in fact from Jofo claiming to have inside info as well. Hard to know what to believe but also hard to comprehend that he could be so broken and no one would realise.

No need to apologise, there is potential for both info to be accurate. In any case, if jofo's info is correct, then we deserve everything we get. You can't just dismiss your own med teams advice and still offer lucrative contracts.

That is exactly what I have heard, they were not happy that after two years of hard work he looked like he would get back on the track at another club. Do your contacts know anything about an alleged Barney Rubble that occurred at the Lexus Center around that time. It's alleged a confrontation about Daisy's departure resulted in a locker door being ripped off it hinges and the contents of the locker being tossed out onto the bitumen at the rear entrance. Very mature behaviour! ;)

Unfortunately not, I would have liked to see that!
I was only told of the disappointment of the medical team after they finally thought they were on track. I am sure the team is well and truly over their disappointed now though.

Didnt do enough homework on Daisy..he was never fit enough to continue his AFL career and Collinwgood knew it but for some reason
we didnt...he still cant kick over a jam jar.
I dont blame the player for taking the easy money..I blame the club for taking him on, overpaying him and not doing their due diligence...

When we got him, the Collingwood physio team were sure he was finally about to get his body right again. I don't have many connections in the football world but I can speak with authority on this one. Collingwood obviously had their doubts but it wasn't because of his ankle

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Power forward?
45% game time and 1 possession in a "B" game, ya think???

I've seen headless chooks than offer more direction than Liam "The Beast" Jones!

The sad thing is physically he is almost the perfect type for AFL, it's just he has too much lacking in too many other areas. At the weekend Jones was trying to do a Roughead, hurt opponents with tackling, but in the same amount of game time Roughead would normally take 4 or 5 marks and gather a dozen possessions. Actually in his 1st season Roughead played very similar to the way Jones is playing in his 7th!

In my opinion, the only chance he has of making it is to play him in  the back half, following around an opposition forward.
