Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Pre Game Permutations: AFL 2020 R1 Carlton vs Richmond
Almost impossible to expect change when we pick up fringe players from bottom teams year after year at the trade table because for whatever reason we just can’t get any real proven talent in the door - doing that puts all the heat on the kids to elevate their game otherwise we just can’t improve.

Loins were able to add Neale and Cameron who are both AA players in year 3. we haven’t added anyone even remotely close to that quality since the rebuild started. Love to see how they would go if you replaced neale and Cameron with 2 fringe banana players from our list. Reckon then the results would almost be reversed which would show why our failures at the trade table will again yield failures on the field.

We miss on papely and then rejoice getting a 34 year old when we bang on year and after year we will not recruit older blokes. But have no room for Daisy who probably played his best season with us over Simpson who looks cooked and also decide to keep Lang and Polson and waste time on playing them in the practice matches. Stupid is too soft a word.

We are now that dumb as a club we use our first pick in the last draft on a bloke that just did his acl and won’t even play this year. Like that’s a move a top 2 team has the luxury of making not a farking bottom team. And there are still some on her that think that was a great move too.

I agree with everything you've said in this post mate.  Why do you think SOS got the arese?  Because he's sent us into a rebuild of a rebuild... and the Carlton Hierarchy KNOW IT

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Carlton vs Brisbane Practice Match
This is what i wrote about Newnes recently. I've said similar over the past 6-12 months.

Just looking through the stats....
Newnes 20 touches.
Curnow 20 touches
Newman 19 touches

I know it was far from his best game......and lets face it, nobody really turned up after half time.....but he does 'as advertised'. Not sure where all the hate is coming from. Plenty of 'mates' on the day.

These players, Newnes and Ed are perennial butchers of the football.  It wouldn't matter if they had 30 touches, in fact, you don't want them to have 30 touches.  Ed is a tagger only.  He cannot kick properly- e.g all his kicks go up in the air.  Newnes was horrible at the saints (hence his dropping) and will be horrible at our club.  It is not rocket science.  Retreds are cheap but cause your car to be a danger to everyone on the road when they fail.  Our coaching is horrible (line coaches) and the board is a joke.  I have been saying this for about 10 years on here but noone listens.  17th or 18th.   Again.

There is a fundamental coaching flaw if we have so many entries inside 50, but do nothing with them.  What has Teague given us in terms of strategies and plans?

I'm.going on sen tonight and will be calling for all paying supporters to boycott the Brisbane game until the board recognise change needs to be made. They will not listen otherwise.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Passion: AFL 2019 Rd 9: Carlton vs. GWS
So BB asks we not treat this game in isolation but rather look at the body of our work over 9 games. Okay. We've won 1 game.

Bolton's kidding himself.  If we lose to the saints, he will be sacked.  Footy is big business and loyalty can only go so far.  We all love the navy blues- that is why we are on here and talk about them every week.  But as a supporter you need to see progress.  We haven't.  I don't know who will do a better job, or even if anyone can, but this I do know- the current setup is not working.  As senior coach you simply must take full responsibility.

we gave it everything today, spent a heap of petrol... and failed.    I fear nothing left in the tank now.  Here come the smashings.    We don't believe we can win.  All sides know it and all they have to do is turn up the pressure a bit, and we lose.  We are dreadful.   4 from 40 now.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: If Not BB, Who?
Yep.  Sacking coaches achieves nothing but masking problems.  New coach comes in, everyone gets a shot in the arm, things improve temporarily until it gets hard and reality hits, and that's all she wrote.  Then we start sacking players again until the new coach loses the group and everyone calls it a giant waste of their time and wants to leave.

Where have I heard this story again???

That's rubbish.  There are many examples on elite sport where sacking the coach gets an immediate result, and along term one at that.  The key is picking a good replacement.  Bolton is a goose and should go right now.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Parlay: AFL 2019 Rd 3: Carlton vs Sydney
looking at the stats, simply too many passengers again....

Dow, Polson, Gibbons, Setters, LoB - simply not enough.

I will be furious if Kennedy is not injured? He should have played.

Did the Gov get injured?

I said this two years ago and everyone laughed.  Bolton is a goose.  This club is inspid.  We are a club with no heart, no guts, a heap of spud GWS rejects and a poor excuse for a coach and line coaches.  We've won 2 games in about 30 matches.  Is this acceptable?  Well it must be because it continues to happen and everyone says we're getting better.  Have people forgotton what it's like to support a club that wins.  He should have been sacked tonight after that appauling disaster show today.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2019 AFL Rd 1: Carlton vs Richmond at the MCG: Post Game Passion
If we believe some of what is written on here, this supposed "soft c0ck" player attitude has persisted for at least a decade. Which means that apart from a few like Simmo, Murph, Krooz, many of the "originators" are now long gone. Our list has also turned over several times in these years. All coaches, recruiters, football department people and other support staff have also changed. Yet supposedly this problem persists ? All because all of a little bloke who couldn't scare a school girl ? Gee, he must pretty tough if he can hold influence over other players, coaches, recruiters etc.

I call BS. Massive, massive BS.

No it's not BS. Bad cultures linger around.  Bolts is a part of it, and maybe even contributes to it.

Thought Ed Curnow was ordinary, any thoughts of playing him as a forward should be shelved.....cannot deliver the footy or think his way through a forward play......
Agree on Newman...started in a dodgy fashion with some defensive efforts but his kicking is excellent and is already the go to player in a Houli like way to deliver the ball out defense.....
Plaudits to Fisher...held up well vs Dusty who probably wore him down but our man tackled well and avoided the Dusty fend off better than most....

Ed curnow is a favourite son, but he butchers the footy.  His delivery inside 50 is awful.  It costs us goals, and is a key reason for why we seem to turn the ball over more often than not.   It will be difficult to cut ties with Ed, but until we do, we won't win a flag IMO.

RIP.  Didn't like the player, but that doesn't mean we can't all fee empathy for his family at this difficult time.
