Jim Park Voting: AFL 2021 Rd 15: Carlton vs Adelaide

Voting has obviously been something of a pain in recent weeks. The continuing disappointing performances have reduced the number of voters recently.
Unfortunately, no matter how angry we may get at the under-performances, we cannot actively change them. I hope, however, that out coaches and players can respond to the negatives and get it better on the field. It would make voting a much more pleasant task.

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

Firstly, we won. Secondly, we beat 3 extra players. Thirdly, we played the best quarter we have played for many years. Four, we not only held on, but we were the better team all day. Now we have to learn to kick straight.

Votes:
[3]   Sam Walsh
[1.5]   Zac Williams
[1.5]   Matthew Kennedy
[1.5]   Liam Jones
[1.5]   Jacob Weitering
[1]   Paddy Dow
[1]   Paddy Cripps
[1]   Adam Saad
[0.5]   Ed Curnow
[0.5]   Nick Newman
[0.5]   Matthew Owies
[0.5]   Eddie Betts
[0.5]   Lachie Plowman
[0.5]   Liam Stocker

Explanations:
[3]   Sam Walsh:   38 possessions and was truly remarkable.
[1.5]   Zac Williams:   His best game for us, he worked so much harder this week and provided a lot of drive from defence.
[1.5]   Matthew Kennedy:   Another strong game from Kennedy, especially considering we were not winning the taps.
[1.5]   Liam Jones:   Dominated across half back. Destroyed a couple of opponents and didn’t lose a single one-on-one contest.
[1.5]   Jacob Weitering:   16 marks in defence, even when he spent at least 15 minutes off the ground. Brilliant. Never lost a contest, even if Walker got away a few times.
[1]   Paddy Dow:   An excellent effort in the middle. His goal was a classic!
[1]   Paddy Cripps:   Not a huge Cripps game, but he was tagged all day. His opponent didn’t let him get near a marking contest, but he won only one free for it. He did run about 30 metres to kick his goal, but …
[1]   Adam Saad:   A really solid game in defence, taking out the Adelaide forwards and providing some great rebound. His goal was stunning!
[0.5]   Ed Curnow:   Did a solid job all day.
[0.5]   Nick Newman:   Lot of possessions considering he only spent 3 quarters in the game. He defensive efforts were much stronger today.
[0.5]   Matthew Owies:   A really good performance ruined by his kicking at goal. He should have had 5 or 6.
[0.5]   Eddie Betts:   The only reason Eddie is this low in the voting is because he got injured and struggled from that point. He did some special things.
[0.5]   Lachie Plowman:   Best game in quite a while, and his disposal was better than usual.
[0.5]   Liam Stocker:   I am surprised he only had as many possessions as he did. I thought he had more, He was excellent in defence and his kicking was much improved.

Honourable Mentions:
Jack Martin:   Would have been a vote getter if he had kicked straight. He still disappeared from the game too much, but he did some really nice things and was simply too good. But his kicking for goal needs a lot of work.
Jack Silvagni:   he did really well in the ruck when he gave Tom dK a break, much better than expected, even if he was only adjudged to have had a single tap. His defensive work was excellent, but he couldn’t hold his marks today.
Tom de Koning: Did a great job nullifying O’Brien, who last year won the game for Adelaide.

Lots of others deserved votes too.

We have 12 voters so far this week. Let's see if we can get some more! This has been our best win in quite a while.
