Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 10 2024 Pre Game Prognostications Carlton vs Sydney
Martin, Cuningham, Williams, Marchbank.
So much talent.
So many injuries.
I would offload all 4 for whatever we can get.
We just can't afford to carry them anymore.
Williams & Martin pushing 30...it ain't going to improve from here.
Replace them with youth

Yep. The one potent thing we're confronted with against the Fluffy Ducks is that they maintain pressure for four qtrs. We tend to have a lapse in just about every game, and that's all they will need to open up a lead... and keep it.Spot on Baggers. If we bring 4 qtr effort we can win. We have had in game lapses in every game this year. Swans don't. The hard 4-5 week block we've had makes it harder but they are still beatable. Mids set up and kick most of their goals. Need to get it in quick to our forward line. Swans slice defences by clean ball movement so 4 qtr pressure non negotiable for us to win.

I see it nice and clean - yeah we may win clearances but outside of that we are getting slaughtered because we persist with crabs. You are correct to a certain extent.
Even Walsh resorted to just throwing the ball onto the boot in the last qtr.
That ain't going to win big games.

I agree we have been poor but it is not that easy to fix. It's not just about the back 6, although losing Saad and McGovern certainly hasn't helped. When teams like Geelong and GWS slice through us from defence to there forward line, it is about our whole teams defensive efforts. And as I have been saying for a long time our lack of leg speed makes it hard to stop. We need players that can go with them when it gets turned over and we don't have many.

Drop the axe Vossy - too many players are getting a free ride.
And bring in who? The injury list doesn't allow this, although I would be tempted to just axe a couple to send a message.
Sorely missing the run of Saad and McGovern down back.
We are too predictable going forward and inefficient when it gets there.
The stats say it all.
Bring on the Pies.
