No Daisy, late out, might come back to bite us if its a close game later on. Helps with structures and rallying the troops. We have A LOT of young and inexperienced players in the lineup with losing both White and Cripps as well.

Hopefully we kick away and make it a dead game in the last.

Boeky with a nice sidestep makes it 3!

Putting him up forward early in the year hurt his confidence. Anyway, form is temporary, class is permanent. He'll be a good player for us for the next 10 years or more. Hopefully the class returns soon!

Not sure how much with weitering is confidence, and how much of it is just lack of experience with structures.

A lot of his pre-season work was done with the forwards. Perhaps he's a bit out of his depth and feeling out of place in the backline at the moment.
He wouldn't have played with Jones/Silvagni/Buckley in the back line before.

Nice start, we should have been further in front. Their goals were all due to our errors, thats a good sign. We must must must stick tackles agains this mob.

They do seem to have a lot of time with the ball in their hand and able to find handballs with what seems like ease.
Defensive structure looks good as usual.

Not sure why we are not going to Cas/Curnow more in on our treks forward because they both started very strongly.
The kick from (was it Fisher?) across the face instead of going long seems especially errant.

I think we can play better, yet we have a lead so that is the positive. The downside is of course the dogs can play a fair bit better than that also.

Let's see what we can do this quarter?

Just how much time did dogs have with the ball from that center bounce, a player should have 1.. perhaps 2 seconds max from a center bounce, he had basically 3-4 seconds to just run in a circle and deliver.

Ridiculous center play

A few years ago, we were doing some joint training sessions with the Storm guys... We were showing them kicking skills and they were showing us tackling. I remember  at that time we were a  great tackling side. I reckon it's time to look at something similar again. Or at least try and get an NRL tackling coach consulting.

Need some of the big boys to start smashing some bodies and opening up our forward line.

Not an enjoyable quarter to watch at all.

It is always hard to control emotion, because you are more emotional now, than in say rounds 2-3.
But to me that was one of our worst quarters for the year (and we have had quite a few worse quarters on the scoreboard).
Simply we are smashing the hitouts, equaling the clearances, but not looking like winning the ball around the ground and not looking dangerous going forward.

We must stick some tackles, that is point number 1. If Bolts could only give 1 message this half time break it should be... Stick tackles and stick them hard.
Give away a few frees if absolutely necessary, but hold up play and stick some farking tackles.

Just get a hold of the momentum of the game.

Dogs got on a run and we couldn't stop it.

Flood back sooner and if we do get possession, do our sideways/backwards kicking thing to take a bit of the sting out of the game. We let them get too far ahead and now we'll struggle to kick a score to get us back in it.

From AFL Match Center:

Four players for the Bulldogs recorded double digit disposals in the second term. By comparison, 10 Blues players had three disposals or less. This came off the back of the Bulldogs winning uncontested possessions 89-54 this quarter.

'Pressure acts' are fine, but players like SPS and Fisher need to be creative and play makers as well. They have no real influence on the game.

Our spud factor is high and their good players are getting too much footy.....Docherty on the ball hasnt worked and needs to be back across half back.
Weitering has been woeful, Simpson not much better and the little man Caleb Daniel continues his good form against us.

Pros...Nick Graham playing one of his best games IMO, using the ball well and working hard, Boekhorst was ok early and Liam Jones has been reliable.

Why we kick across goal to one on two contests etc and continue to kick short in the backline is beyond me...Dogs have lived off our mistakes.

When you don't have any forwards in your side, there's a fair chance that their backs are just surrounding him waiting for us to bomb it and converge on him.

What he needs to do is LEAD at the guy with the ball.

Most of our marks inside 50 are pagans paddock style running back.

We don't know how to lead at the ball carrier.

I've also noticed that we never ever lead to the ball carrier. Waite was the last forward to do this regularly. How hard can it be ?

It is not those leading making the errors today, the delivery is unbelievably poor.

I don't even know if I can watch this last quarter, feel physically sick at that last 5 minutes.

I felt physically sick at the footy last week.

Turns out it was gastro.

Was not a fun car ride home.....didn't make it.  :-[

And way too many of our ball carriers can't Fking kick to save themself.

Graham twice that quarter just needed to hit a 20 metre target and we get an easy shot at goal. Mucked both up.

Our kicking into F50 today is back to the malthouse days!

Another unpleasant quarter to watch.

They do look knackered though. Simpsons kick into the dogs player when we should've been going towards goal! So frustrating!

Let them have two easy ones at the end so dead quarter now

I'm not disputing our mids are not using it well.
When you have Kerridge and Graham as 2 of your best mids, you take what you can get.

But i'm not talking specifically about this week. We just don't lead properly, Casboult prefers to run and jump at the high ball as it leaves him closer to goal.
Charlie and Jack don't quite have the leg to take the ball around the 50.

Leaves us very 1-dimensional and adds to our forwardline issues.

my thoughts exactly, would have loved to have him still, as a player, and maybe to show some of our forwards technique .

I understand why Bolton is keen to play his flooding, keepings off style. But I simply don't agree with it.

Why are we the frigging team who ALWAYS plays other teams and payers back into form. F**ks me off no end for the last upteen years.

JJ has been targetting physically for the past month and has struggled with form big time.

So what do we do?

Try a different tactic and let him run loose on his own.  :-[

Putting him up forward early in the year hurt his confidence. Anyway, form is temporary, class is permanent. He'll be a good player for us for the next 10 years or more. Hopefully the class returns soon!

confidence is class. HE claimed he is a swingman. He likes that role.
I think he's playing hurt

I realise people say Jack has a good footy brain, but I'm not seeing it. I guess he just forgot to pack it today.

I know he works hard, but I see him as an ordinary footballer.

Yes, I know he's young and he might still come good.

Even then. Murphy streaming into F50, Wright one-on-one. Instead of leading at Murphy, he was forced to kick high to the contest.

LEAD at the ball carrier!!!!

The Dogs have set up very well at contests and when the ball hits the deck. They always seem to have players in the right place at the right time.

Exceeding all expectations.

Was 50-50 on if he was going to be drafted. Longer odds to make it.

Give the kid a break.

And if you are looking for a forward who works hard for position and knows how to lead, he is about the only one in our side.

I just said. He was borderline to be drafted. Lucky to play a game.

Not only has he played, plenty, he is kicking goals. Picked regularly.

Lack of Rotations didn't help in the last qtr , lack of goal options through the game is still or Achilles heel

IMO, he looks exactly like a player that was borderline to be drafted.

He's picked regularly for the same reason Casboult is.

On the bright side even when we play crap we hang in. That'd been 10 goals+ a couple of years ago. Injuries kicking in, young blokes feeling the long season. Bit like the Richmond game, we never got going.
