I'd be shocked if we let the same thing happen again but you never know. Ben Keys had a day out, that won't happen again. They do have fwd line that can prove troublesome. If it was at the G we'd be a certainty.
Last year was in front of 40,000+ baying Crows fans at the Adelaide Oval for the first ever Gather game.  I'd like to think the shoe is on the other foot this time.......

If I hear that we were 'lucky' again, I'll tear off my own ears! If you want to talk 'lucky', how about Freo getting 66% of their goals from frees... some there, some not. The end.
I'm disappointed that they keep referring to the 'touched' mark.  It wasn't, it was a mark.  There must be 5-10 marks in every game that are 'touched' but paid as marks - most pack marks have multiple hands on them, and as for smothering off the boot, umpires are always looking for hands doing that, not triceps.  They sure as hell are not allowed to look at slow-motion enhanced video from 3 different angles.

And the free that followed - Freo can own that completely.

So we weren't the thieves - just the club that is smart enough to play until the final siren rings and take its chances along the way.

I went, and TBH we were lucky.  But at the same time, we missed a bunch of gettable goals - Cripps, McKay (Q2), Cottrell, Acres (Q3) all missed very gettable shots that would have given us a decent lead in a tight game.

The team certainly looked like they we in a bit of holiday mode at the start, but slowly worked up to a harder edge.

We need to defend short chains down the wing better - I lost count of the number of times Freo had a free run with short passes and snappy handball while we were back-pedalling.....

But gee, it's funny how 2 minutes of football can change a futile 1600km drive into a 'great weekend'.

And FWIW, Gather Round is pretty special - Adelaide was sure buzzing.

Not sure TDK is going that great....didnt think he dominated vs Nth and his opponent Xerri who could be described as awkward at best matched him in the ruck and was better in the clearances and contested work. Think both of them took one mark for the game each....
Im not paying TDK a zillion a year based on that effort and imho he is a tad overrated for what he delivers....I preferred his game when Pittonet would spend the first half softening their opponents up and TDK would take over later in the game and be more dominating....
I think the other thing to think about in this equation is how beneficial it has been for Harry to be the support ruckman - he gets to escape the smothering that happens in the forward line, get some disposals and make an impact - and I reckon his forward work has improved because of that.  If we run TDK and Pitto, Harry probably stays stuck in the forward line.

No easy games in this group. Walsh back soon will help us. We need all the help we can get. Considering no Doc, and no Jack. Plus limited ruck stocks. Our pressure will be put to the test. If that holds up we could win more of these games than we expect. Bring on the mental focus Voss. Bring that on.
We are flying under everyone's radar at the moment.  The external pressure will be much more obvious if we beat Freo this week.....

Team C+

Cripps 4
McGovern 4
Harry 3
TDK 2
Saad 1
Newman 1

HM : Carroll, Kemp, Hewitt

Good to see some of the younger brigade are becoming consistent contributors.  It is often said that a Premiership is not based on the top 6 in your side, but the bottom 6..... hopefully, that weakness in our 22 is diminishing

100% honest, I was very worried going into this game.  Between the inevitable let-down after last week's big win and Doc's knee, combined with a Richmond outfit who were always going to be fired up, there was a real chance we would turn up half-baked and get rolled.

Fortunately, we were 3/4 baked and did enough to win.  Had two chances (start of the second and start of the last) where we could have put the game to bed - if we had established a 20+ lead at any stage, I think the Tiges would have faded - but we stuffed up enough to keep them interested.

This is one of those 'ugly' wins that you need to have - still get the four points, but also (hopefully) learn several lessons.

Kudos to our tackling, it has improved out of sight (although Lewis Y needs to do some significant remedial work).

Best sight for the night - TDK has finally realised he can jump higher than the gorillas and is faster around the ground.  I think his season will only get better.  And Harry's 'ball on the ground, 10 steps, kick' routine is clearly a keeper.

Pinot....I thought Ollie Hollands was one of our best across the two practice games. Yep, he was pretty quiet against the Lions but I'd be backing him in.
Ollie looked like a boy among men out there this week, got rag-dolled on several occasions, or easily bumped out of contests.  He needs to use his greatest asset, run and carry, to greater effect.
