If "all" our forwards make leads/get out in the open through the game and those leads are honoured, we stand a good chance. If we continue to bomb the ball into forward line, long odds for a win.
Further to that, doesn’t matter which player of ours it was, why the hell were they 3 metres away? For god’s sake, if anyone should have a player’s hand placed on their chest by way of tracking their position in space and time, it’s Cameron - especially when the game’s on the line in the last few minutes.
Yes, can't help but agree totally. Where was the Carlton player whose job was to wear Cameron (Geelong's most dangerous forward) like a skin? At least Binnsie tried to man up, but hardly his role. Feel for our coaches watching on such inept defensive work
Yes lucky to win, but boys persevered and had that late momentum. Great courage and endeavour by Zac Williams to drive that ball into Charlie Curnow for his crucial late goal.
What a change to be travelling in a train of mainly Carlton supporters. No-one hissing either Then at the game wow, huge supporter numbers
When Freeo took the ball out on the Eastern wing, they usually had a paddock to work in. We need some outside runners badly!
Thank you Lods, had been looking for comments on how our second tier players performed in the AFL & VFL matches last week.. So good to hear that Carol & Hudson O'Keefe went okay. We might need O'Keefe rucking in the A team this year!
Any thoughts on how Harry Lemmey, Jaxon Binns, Lachlan Cowan and Ashton Moir performed in either game?
To become a true premiership contender we will need to improve the structure/movement of our forwards and particularly how the ball is delivered into the forward 50 m area. Long high kicks into the area are a gift for backs to set up and defender against.
No wonder Charlie C. had a bad finals series given the way we were delivering the ball. With a less cluttered up forward line, Charlie and co may even get some effective leads in!
We also would benefit from another mid size marking straight kicking forward, imo.
Thought the strength of our 'settled' backline a major reason for the run of wins, with Kemp's form a highlight. However, I haven't been at these games. Perhaps Boyd in to stand guard on a key small forward!
