So how is Yarran different to anyone else. Why is he Malthouse's scapegoat? He blamed the loss to the Scum on him. What's good for Yazz is good for everyone else, how about singling out a few others Malthouse. How about Murphy's pi55weak efforts to tackle earlier in the year? Bryce's lack of heart? He's probably worried he may 'lose' these players if he goes after them but I get the feeling he never really liked yarran anyway and is happy to risk him. Unfortunately, it's had the domino effect with his fellow 'Amigos' and backfired on him.

Malthouse knows a bit more about sending a message to a playing group than we do, and I think that our allegiance to this playing group is not worth it for ANY of them, and Im backing the coach.  This mob failed to extract a digit to beat the competitions whipping boys last season and ultimately ousted a club legend as coach in the process.  Side with them if you like, but for me its line in the sand time with the playing group.  Why?  Because they continually fail to draw the line themselves, and decide that they leave it to others.  So Malthouse and I are drawing the line for them.

You can tow the line and play Malthouse football or you can feck off, and that starts with Chris Judd and finished with Marcus Davies, and goes through every player in between.

Its time we did the right thing rather than stick with fickle talent.  After all, Geelong were able to lose Gary Ablett Junior, and go on to win another flag.  Hawthorn sacrificed Gary Ablett Senior and setup their team for 5 premierships.  Perhaps Yarran will be the catalyst in our team transforming into a truly galvanised unit. 

Then and only then should we worry about whether or not the coach is worth the money we are paying him.


This isnt about him being treated differently, this is about treating them all the same.  He may be starting with Yarran as he might be the toughest nut to crack.  Perhaps it might be that despite what we think, he might never be the sort of player that we need him to be.  Who knows?  I bet you the coach has more of an idea than we do.

No worries EB1, we are all entitled to an errror.

In any case both subs came on and took the game by the scruff of the neck.

Ours come on and all you hear are crickets.  Something definately wrong between the ears of our boys.  I have not been uber impressed with a debutant since Jeffy Garlett made his debut.

Port have a good midfield...Boak has been a good choice as skipper unlike Murphy and both Hartlett and Wingard have excellent skills.....you add a new tough in and under in Ollie Wines plus workmanlike players in Broadbent and Cornes and you have some nice balance....only Cornes is a genuine tagger the rest are offensive players who win games....you can add the kid Grigg who came on and helped beat the Crows to that group as well. Its mainly young kids who are very skillful.......they will belt us in the last game....
Ahem, correct me if Im wrong, but Grigg played for the crows, and you are thinking of Colquhoun instead.

Just watching Adelaide vs Port.

Take a look at Jarred Petrenko.  He lead the way in terms of lifting the tackling pressure.

On the other side you have chad winguard.  Both have been huge.  Chris Yarran could have twice the talent but doesnt even have half the ticker and both have had a major say in their sides fortunes in this game of footy, and Yarran has NEVER shown this level of commitment to the cause.

We were 10 points down going into the last quarter.

Again, people  don't realize what a good player Mayne is and how important he is to Freo.

If the rest of the side had done its job then Gibbs' efforts would have been the difference, but alas Bryce has to cop the blame for 5 guys who didn't turn up !

Yes really.  Premiership sides dont make massive blues like that when the game is hot and you are riding the momentum. 

Undisciplined one upmanship. 


That one moment changed the game.  We had to claw back to ten points because that incident resulted in a couple of quick goals to Freo and their biggest lead of the match.  We should have been up, not fighting our way back AGAIN.

Bryce Gibbs went a long way into killing our momentum and giving them a big lead.

We lost what i consider to be a winnable game.

The worst part is that i tipped this result.  We cant possibly lose next week, and we are not good enough to win five in a row.

Murph was limping around the field tonight.  Either he copped a corkie early which stopped his run, or he wasn't right.

Cant see how we can push Scotland to retire.  Scotland Simpson and Tuohy and Judd were head and shoulders better than the rest.

Being better than crap, doesnt mean you are good, its just means you are less crap.

Waite does too many dumb things to be played in defence. Been great up forward though.

Ive been thinking about how to make sense of his comments re this forward setup, and then I remembered who we are talking about here.  Its Mick Malthouse.  The king of misinformation via the media.

Why formulate a plan that would take everyone by surprise and then spruik it on the radio?

Knockers cant go with Sandilands.  Too slight.  Would rather we go with a combination of Kreuzer, Casboult and Rowe.

On Casboult vs Rowe, based on the way both have gone about it, its clear to me that you go with the one that is currently travelling better.  Its line ball between them as neither is dominant and both have varying ability to contribute across the position they play but largely if one is a bit fatigued or one is carrying a niggle you go the other way.  One might be a bit flat mentally the other might be chomping at the bit.  You go the other way.
