Robert Heatley Stand / Re: "It's Elementary My Dear Watson"

Sam Rowe appears he will also be considered as a tall backman as Mick evolves the playing list and positions....the media rated his work on Petrie, I didnt, 4 goals from your key forward is a fair return and Sam looked to be floundering when the ball hit the deck so I rate that move as a 40/60 chance of success.

When you compare how Rowe played on Petrie compared to when Jamo plays on Petrie, I'd say Rowe did very well keeping him to 4.  Jamo is Petries B1tch usually.

Wish Kreuzer would add this element to his game. He needs to play nasty, it could take him to another level.

Agree.. The only aggression Ive seen him apply was in the collingwood game last year when he tackled Jolly and put him out for 6 weeks..  Not to say he doesn't attack the ball hard, but if he used his aggression to hit bodies hard, he would be a lot more affective..  He never seems to get fired up..  He plays at once pace..

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: "Whip It, Whip It Good" - Who Is Your 2014 Whipping Boy ??
I've had 2.. Stevens and Simmo...   Stevens deserved it, and early to mid last season I jumped aboard the Simmo train as he had his clear best year to date...

I dont really have any now... I was always a big Brock fan and lead the Brock charge in late 2012 early 2013. Most CSC seem to like him now anyway...

I can pick a few that I suspect are going to cop it from CSC throughout 2014..

Rowe, Bootsma, Lucas, Casboult, Warnock, Kreuzer, Gibbs, Yarran, Jamo and Jeffy...

It's time for young Mathew Watson to deliver and the reasons for that are many.

First of all, we need a bone-fide tall in defence to try and free up Henderson to go forward to provide a genuine marking target.

Of the other chaps who were drafted in the same year as him (2010), only Andrew McInnes remains as Patrick McCarthy, Luke Mitchell, Nick Duigan have been moved on.

If he was to fail and be booted, it would be a complete disaster and near wipe-out for that draft as well as the fact that he was our first pick at #18 that year.

At 195cm & 99kg, he is a big unit who should be able to hold his own ground or and match it with some of the bigger lugs in the competition. He also has a huge booming left foot that is a damaging weapon when opposition teams apply a press or flood, he can clear the congestion with a massive roost.

This is his fourth year at the club which means he will turn 22yo this year, he cannot be viewed as a "kid" for much longer as he has had the benefit of four pre-seasons to get his fitness up to the necessary level.

All in all, if he can hold down a role in our defence, he will straighten up our team down the spine and provide us with some variations when it comes to the match-ups.

Here's hoping he has a breakout season, or part thereof.

I remember seeing him in two intra club matches last year and he dominated down back.. I thought he was going to have a great year in 2013 going by that...
I've now learnt not to get my hopes up as come the real season its a totally different ball game..
I just wouldn't be pinning my hopes on this guy holding down a key position back role week in week out...  He does some nice things, but to me its like he has momentary lapses of concentration that end up costing him and us..
I hope for all the reasons above, that he does perform this year.. But im just not so confident...

What concerns me is that we still kick the ball straight to opp, bomb the ball into our fwdline, only to see the opp run away with the football.Malthouse and co have to change this.1 e.g thouy running through the centre boots it long  and commentator says kicked to no one, i want to see space, forwards leading.

It was our first hit out mate... Give the players some time to get back into the swing of things..  ;)

I blame Nick Stevens for setting such a sh1t example for the young lads to follow..  Anyone using Nick at the time as a mentor needed to be reprogrammed after he left. Some have taken longer than others to rid themselves of any Stevoism traits...

Ahhhh well lets just see how this little gem goes down..  ;D

I feel the same way and have said as much in the past, not just Stevens but Whitnall also has a bit to answer for. The loss of Hamill is still hurting us to this day.

I remember being at one game v. the Pies and two of their supporters sitting behind us were right on Stevo's case. They called him "The Sheepdog" as he skirted the packs and never went in to get the hard ball. In the end it was so obviously true the more he did it and it became quite hilarious!  :))

That was him alright, also yapping away calling for the easy ball hence the sheep dog tag. Just imagine if Judd hadn't have come he would have been made captain for even longer.

He was never made captain thank god.. It went from Lance straight to Juddy..   I cant believe he was even considered to be honest..

I think that post is known as a :

Well in all seriousness, there were a lot of people in denial way back then... When you enter a club as a number one draft pick, and your captain is overweight, and the mentor you are put with from a midfield point of view is a party boy who too struggled with weight (because of his undisciplined ways off field) and very rarely tackled or got himself a hardball, its going to wear off on these young guys who are looking up to them. They would be easily influenced in their early years...

I thought Garlett was only not in the team because he was injured..  Now I see he's in the Northern Blues today...  Not happy.. He's been the best performed out of the 3 amigos all year..
