Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Question time
The problem with the switching play is that our guys do it in slow motion.
Watch the GWS guys switching last night. Quick kicks, to open players and moving the ball forward.
Contrast to our guys who kick sideways, the bloke marks, goes back from the mark, looks through a 180 degree arc to assess options, picks one option, decides against it then picks another option, which by that time is a 3 on 1 contest in the opposition favour, and kicks.
When we do it quickly, we look a much better side. I dont know if it's about not being drilled in moving the ball on quickly, if it's about potential receivers not getting into the right positions or what.

Devastated.
My son's first live AFL game.
Direct quote walking back to the car "Im happy for the Giants people"

Broke my heart
It's probably the 2nd or 3rd worst game Ive seen from a Carlton team.
LOB, Dow, Stocker... These guys need to play VFL and not return to senior football until they are ready. We are going to kill any chance they have a being succesful.
McCreadie... Had he done anything to warrant a call up? Because he looked even less ready for a game than the last lot I mentioned.
Before anyone belts me, it is not the fault of these guys, and I feel sorry for them and for saying this. But geez, they don't look like Auskickers right now.
The skill level was atrocious last night. How can anyone get away with playing like that.
I THINK I still believe that sacking BB is not the way to go, but this club needs something drastic to happen because for all of the green shoots and honorable losses, we look a rabble.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Winning isn't everything
My little fella - Grade 1 this year - had a major melt down before class started on Tuesday. Which is not like him at all.

When quizzed by his mother why he wasn't taking his water bottle into his classroom like all the others, he melted down and said he didn't want his class mates to know he went for Carlton!  :-[ :-[

(his water bottle is a charlie's crew bottle with his name on it!)

That's why I want wins on the board more than anything!!!!

My boy is the same age.
We are in NSW so he is mostly shielded from the poor performances.
He just started Auskick this year, and I am taking him to his first game this weekend vs GWS. Hoping for at least a good showing by our lads for his sake, but I am not confident of being anywhere near them.

With fair umpirung today. We win.

This. x 1 million.
I thought that bar the last 5 minutes, where our guys looked broken once Collingwood got more than a goal in front, we were the better side. Deserved a win, but obviously the AFL had decreed differently, and they had instructed the umps to make it happen.
24-8 free kick count is putrid, and just doesnt happen legitimately at this level of footy.

Common sense says if you lay unconscious for a period following head trauma, you won't play an elite sport in 6 days time.
The club must exercise due diligence in such circumstances.
That we won't have a backline to compete in the AFL is neither here nor there.

Wishing big Jonesy a complete recovery and quick return to the side.

If the club plays Jones, they should be held accountable for any future brain damage and post concussion syndrome he may end up with.
it would be an unconscionable scenario.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Pre-Game Pressure: AFL 2019 Rd 6: Carlton vs Hawthorn in Launceston
Stocker was named in a squad a few weeks back so just thought he might be closer but reading VFL summaries it doesn't sound like he's ready yet. I think selection will come down to weather forecast. If it's wet n windy, it's hard to see us going in with Kreuzer and Levi, especially if Charlie Curnow comes back in. Anyone else think we looked pretty good last week WITHOUT Charlie? His form this year has been ordinary at best and he's dropped heaps of marks in a lot of games. Neither he or McGovern have really hit their straps.

I reckon McGovern has been pretty good, and Ive enjoyed the agro he has brought at times.

I seem to recall something being mentioned in the past about players of Roos' vintage being jaded towards Carlton due to the salary cap rorts and they think they were denied a shot at a premiership due to that.
Roos has hated Carlton for as long as I can recall. And he has never been good at hiding it during his media career.

It was great to see the win (albeit today, having recorded the game).  I did hear a snippet on the radio as I had to go home to get the ice cream I forgot for lunch!  The bit on the radio was in the third, we were 5 goals up, which reduced to three.  Parkin and the other commentator were particularly harsh on a couple of errors that we made during that time, making it sound as if we were going to let another one go.

The couple of periods where we lost some momentum seemed to me to be when Kreuzer was having a breather. We seemed to get done at the clearances and that's where they have been damaging this year.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: If Not BB, Who?
We should be having these reviews every year during a "rebuild".
Thats not to say sack him. I think we should stay the course until end of next year as well, but surely constant review is needed in any profession so changes can be made to correct any problems

for what it's worth, even though I think we should wait until end 2020 before deciding whether or not to get rid of BB, I think if we dont win any games in the next 8-10 he may find himself gone.

Teague is the forward coach. I would have thought he would have more control over the way the forwards are playing.
I don't think BB is solely responsible for the way the team is playing.

I dont think that leading or having a high work rate is natural for McKay. My biggest knock on him when he was not getting picked was work rate, or lack thereof.
Maybe he just needs time to learn how to run patterns and work smarter.
With 3 taller options down forward, at least one of them should be in the vicinity of the goal square whenever we move forward, ready to lead out.

Brendon Bolton   44   13   31   0   29.55   2016–

Coaches since Parkin in 2000. Games, wins, losses, draws.
Ratten 50%- not good enough, sack the coach.
Malthouse 37% sack the coach
Barker (caretaker)
Bolton 29%- ???

Can we see a common theme here?
We are changing coaches like we should be changing underwear and it's getting us worse as a result.
But, by all means, lets sack another coach...

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Passion: AFL 2019 Rd 4: Carlton vs. Gold Coast
Ironic?

I've probably been Daisy's bandwagon #1 ticket holder since the day he was recruited....and reason being was because he would show the rest of our rabble how to go about it, continually.

It was never about how good of a player he was/is/will be, it was about effort, brains and work rate. He has been to the top of the tree and knows whats required to get there. We cannot say the same of any other player on the list.

We need more daisy types on the list, and we'll 'magically' improve.

Like, Like, Like!!!
