Pickett was the standout for me. Very strong in the hips. How many tackles did he simply walk through and kept on running.

Definitely starting to get that belief. Hopefully he continues in the last couple games and is full steam ahead for next season.

People forget he was taken @pick 4 and had some injuries before we got out hands on him.

I was flicking between the match and Liverpool's match, but I did see one particular passage where he just seemed to shrug his hips and power through a couple tackles. Good to hear has was a shining light. I said this last week, we need to have that pace in the team.

Also why I love when Derm is part of the commentary, him and Roos are the only two who understand the game at a high level, the rest just regurgitate what they see.

I'm not talking about Premierships EB, all that I'm saying is that at long last I'm happy with the direction we're heading and the methods we're using to get there.
Whether it will lead to the ultimate success nobody knows but I'm as confident as I can be that within two or three years we'll be a consistently competitive outfit.

Completely agree. Are we 100 points worse than Port or better than GWS because we beat them? It is all relative.  Like you b4l I agree it is about the path we are taking to get there which seems more measured and strategic to achieve sustained success.

I think it is mids all around.

Having much better footballers than Graham, Smedts, Boekhurts, Kerridge using the football would make the world of difference.

Yep basically that. Can't have these guys as our midfield depth/fringe. To be a solid AFL mid you have to be able to win your own ball and have good disposal as a minimum, unfortunately those guys all lack in at least one of those aspects if not both.

As a team I did not expect much, felt it was always another development year. Bolts will move to the next stage of development of the team and game plan and try to be more attacking after this year was spent on defensive structures. This time next year will be interesting.

Good fight back and resolve shown by the players to claw their way back and wrestle control of the game. It is very a good sign for a young team to completely stop the opposition in their tracks the way we did and control the game.

Weitering - definition of shot right now, looked shot before i went overseas a month ago and is looking worse. Unfortunately has regressed this season for mine and really hope he get back on track.

Marchbank - unfortunately his good is good but when he is off he looks like a Paul Bower clone, everything goes out the window, marking, kicking and decision making.

Charlie - keeps looking better and getting stronger as the season gets longer which is unusual, already up there alongside Cripps now as our two franchise players at the club.

Pickett - if only his disposal and decision making could improve we have to find a way to keep that pace in the side.

Again rapt about the way we won as well as the win itself. Consistent effort for the whole game and to steady after they got in front.

Gibbs! Only had to wait 10 years but we finally got what we thought we recruited. It's games like this that make me even more frustrated with him, has all the talent, size and skill in the world.

Jones with a great follow up performance, hopefully another one against Riewoldt. A couple of two handed punches not sure if because of the conditions but mark it!

I hate commenting about umpiring but it was bordering pathetic at times. I think there was one bloke in paticular, heaps of muck ups without going through them all but it was the classic umpires game tonight. Two lower teams, interstate, no care factor by the media so umpires think the game is about them and invent and change rules on the fly.

Still too early for McKay BUT we did lack an extra marking target when going forward against GWS last Sunday especially when Casboult was rucking.

This is what I was thinking, when Casboult is second rucking and Charlie is pushing up high and Kreuzer is off we don't really have anyone there. Maybe with another marking target down there like McKay, Casboult gets even better as he has less defenders sagging off onto him and vice versa. Imagine Charlie left with a 3rd tall defender, once he leaps that poor bloke will have no chance. Not to mention SOS with the fourth defender.

With Wright down there, I would also like to see us develop Fisher as a real crafty forward mid ala Ablett early days with Geelong. He has good pace and lateral movement, has a killer sidestep and a great leftie.

Liam J had kicked the door down with his repeated NB's performances.....his closing speed is remarkable.

what happened to ACoS btw?

Re Daisy, sure he did his bit today, well done. Doesn't mean that happens every week....i just don'r see the level playing (selection) field when it comes to Daisy.....looks like a very decent fella, for sure, but that ain't the point.

Rowe is going to struggle coming back from this knee but with ASOS and Jones now providing sort of more senior options it will be even harder. They have closing speed on him and the fact they mark more than he does. Our backline is so stacked it provides great confidence to the team now. Need to just stack the mids and forwards over the next couple years.

What a win, had a weird feeling about this game it felt like the Geelong game last year. Injury early and so on.

Charlie keep steadily keeps improving, has all the commentators drooling over him every week and even Leigh Matthews the other week. They all are worried that we have recruited the best athlete since Buddy.

Cunningham another showing great signs every week and improving a lot. Kreuz playing career best footy. Liam Jones great coaching move, closing speed and marks in defence.

Just so many positives. Footy world is worried they are starting to notice what we are building.

Great effort to come back, but man Weitering has massive issues right now. I am hoping he is carrying some which if so why the fudge are we playing him and if not and he is just in bad form then he has regressed badly from last year. Maybe being thrown around has unsettled him and cant get rhythm.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Round 8 Green Shoot of the Week
Was only discussing this with a few mates this week. What a ripper. And, nuh, can't think of an ill-directed kick from this kid.

I picked this at the start of the year, he is naturally a good kick being a leftie but it's his composure that has really surprised me. He looks to be our version of Birchall. Bolts is really trying to mould this backline first and he is already mentioned it numerous times and he is taking leafs out if his old clubs books.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rd 8: After Game Analysis: Carlton vs St Kilda
Don't worry about fisher, weiters or wright. Casboult was putrid, pushed around and looked completely lost.

Casboult has been worked out, you have to play in front of him and not let him leap at the ball. Collingwood did it last week, and it frustrated him. His strngth is launching at the ball punches from behind won't dislodge it. He doesn't have the natural craft of using his body either to combat defenders playing from in front.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rd 8: After Game Analysis: Carlton vs St Kilda
If the game was at the mcg or if we just didn't have the brain spasm at stoppages in the third quarter we probably win. Fisher could have made it really interesting but the kid just took the wrong option but still really impressed me in patches and looks a player.

Great effort by the boys and despite being a loss still definitely moving in the right direction. Saints are good side and should be a finals team, they are not up and coming and their best players are in their prime or past it this is what they are.

We controlled more of the game against a finals team and could have pinched it. Great game asos again, it's funny since his come in the team has been much more confident an aggressive, his attitude and grit is contagous. Weitering a slight worry hopefully he is carrying something and not struggling as a proper key position player.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Rd 7: After Match Analysis: Carlton vs Collingwood
Really impressed with the win yesterday. More so because it was just a solid win every quarter, consistent effort type of win you would expect from a much more mature side. Probably largely due to the coaching and the guys really playing for each other and as a team.

Side note, Charlie looks like he going to rip a game wide open sometime this year. Watching him live he exudes some real potential. Think he is going to have some serious presence out there soon.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: 2017 Round 4 : Post Game thread - Carlton V Gold Coast
Daisy has done nothing wrong he took what any sane person would have done at the time. People having a go or booing him during the game are the height of stupidity like the people who gave him the deal in the first place. Whatever you think about him playing every week is another story. Whoever goes out onto that field deserves nothing but support from every blue bagger.

Fisher looks the part and has what it takes from what I saw last night, has a very similar playing style to Isaac Smith and the way he holds the ball etc. All the kids are showing promising signs!
