Bottom 4 side... and we are playing for draft picks in round 2.  Even Pagan did better than that.

I can't believe we went into a season with Rowe as our primary key forward back up.... surely there must have been a kid available in the draft with some size who could play forward???

Rowe... messed up everything he touched that quarter a, real worry.

Time to start dropping the ball butchers and play kids that can kick.  What are we running at... 35% disposal efficiency...?. you'd be ashamed in F grade ammos to have stats like that.

When Deledio is running around by himself cutting you up you know (1) the coaching staff aren't on the job and (2) your midfield are lazy, no good, or both.

Tagging DeLedio would be a good start Mick.

Time for a total rebuild.  We've got a few out but no excuses for the rest - shambolic.

100 point flogging coming up.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: R2 Richmond V Carlton - Prematch
Agreed Pratty but the options are very limited with our wonderful list... Maybe sticking Levi in the square is the only option we have of stretching our limited big man resources because the Tigers will play three tall forwards to stretch us and Henderson can't be everywhere.

I was McInnes biggest fan but his footy post his big knee has been totally bereft of confident and he is now making the simple stuff look very hard.  Heck, in his first few games he held down CHB and even went forward against the Pies to provide a making option across half forward.  Seriously, what has happened to this bloke?

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Give Me Something Positive!!!
I guess we have to put it all in perspective really.  The fact that we seem to be light years away from a premiership is what is getting us down, and that is a by product of being a Carlton supporter and having high expectations based upon a history of attaining success on such a regular basis that it becomes almost taken as a given.  As people we need to just take stock of things....  we have forgotten that success is earned and how hard is the work required.  Yes the club is in a holding pattern but given the right choices we can start the road back to success.  For the older members of this site I guess at the same time there is a nagging fear of slipping back down to where we were 10 years ago... the horror of fronting up to 25 goal floggings every week and wondering if the side will even get the ball forward of centre, let alone kick a score....  I doubt we are going to ever deteriorate into such depths again so I guess that is a positive.

Anyway I will give a positive as I see it.  Kade Simpson. Reigning B&F.   Haven't seen him mentioned this week.   This bloke has been through everything and still throws himself in and keeps giving.  For a mob that supposedly can't recruit and can't develop recruits Kade has done nothing but the right thing by this club. Late pick, nobody to learn from, chucked in the deep end.  While we still have blokes like Kade running around we aren't going to become irrelevant.

The Sports Desk / Re: 3rd test Australia v South Africa @ Cape Town
Congratulations to both Australia and Sth Africa for a series of high quality, proper Test cricket.  Should have been live to air but that's another topic.

Like the Australian way - prepared to lose in an attempt to win (i.e. bat for runs and declaration and back bowlers to win game).  Also admire the Saffie's ability to bat for long periods.

On other issues;

1.  Lyon disappointing on the final day, but I guess the pitch lacked wear fro him to exploit.

2.  My two cents on reverse swing...  from a bowler's perspective.  The ball will only go reverse once the seam has been abraded off.  At the same time you need to keep the surface in reasonable condition - and that's the trick.  Abrading the seam off counts for naught if the surface is too scuffed- it simply won't do anything.

Lost this game when we didn't dig in and bat for four sessions in the first dig.  Burned out the bowlers and simply got too far behind.  As Boof said... they knew how this game was going to play out but they could did little to stop it.

For mind I'd be giving Harris a rest - has been well down and lacking penetration.  If Watson comes up I'd drop Marsh (a pair after a hundred ain't good enough) in lieu of Doolan.  At least Doolan occupies the crease for a while which is something.

Haddin needs to be told to switch on and needs to think about countering the inswinger/off cutter which he clearly has an issue with. Clarke also needs to harden up and value his wicket - too much loose stuff from the captain.

Given the right conditions and a  fair first dig from our blokes we can be competitive in the Third test... it ain't all over yet.  BTW, Morne bombing Mitch wasn't super smart, I'm sure that went into the memory banks.

I go to bed at none for 120-odd.  Check scores 2 hours later and we're all out.  WTF?  I'm over this crap.  Too many spineless displays, too often.

Too many non-contributors.

BTW fellas, the Ashes is long gone, stop dwelling on those glories.... get switched on to the task at hand.

Once again our batters need to take a bloody long hard look at themselves...  that is a 400 plus pitch in a game necessitating long periods of occupation.

Weather on last day is supposed to be awful, but we need to bat a minimum of 3 sessions just to get there... and we simply can't bat for long periods.

If Smith declares overnight we have a sniff at 350 but can't see him declaring <400, which means every minute burned up is minute less we have to survive.

On the positive side, we got ABdV for <100.
