About a month ago I had one calling me every name under the sun after I kept him on the phone for 40 minutes before telling him the screen says "Your parents should have had an abortion."

weiters was fundamentally naive.

This is a him issue.  The world has been exploited and manipulatd by whatever you want to call them since the dawn of time and the digital platform gives them more means to contact you but even more ways for you to protect yourself.  I.e.  had he just looked at the app of his financial institution the account he was transferring into wouldn't be listed in his accounts, then hang up, and contact the bank directly and fact check any claims.  Was his account frozen?  Nope he could transfer money.  BINGO

I referenced the Nigeria airport scam for a reason.  It happened a long time ago and all it took was a salesman contacting a banker in Brazil.

Thats all this is.  He fell for a social engineering scam and wilfully involved himself.  These people can't get you if you don't do it.  Ergo you have the ability to stop it which is why I have an apparent lack of sympathy for Jacob and his plight.  Speak to people about whats happening.  Don't do this stuff over the phone and verify you are speaking to someone from that bank and I don't mean calling the number they give you!!!

Not sure why people are saying I'm on the wrong track here.  This is 99% jacobs fault for being exploited.  Call it victim shaming if you like but without his involvement this doesn't happen.  Only person I know these days who is surprised by the volume of spam they receive is my mother.

So much of the kids live and die by what happens online now, far more get scammed than they realise, and anyone who knows a smidgen about cyber crime knows nobody is safe.

The big problem globally is that Russia and North Korea basically fund state activities using cyber crime. North Korea have pulled off massive heists cleaning out bullion and cash from even the reserve banks of countries, all protected by people who think it couldn't happen to them!

There was a great documentary made about this a couple of years back, it is called the Lazarus Heist, have a listen!  To cover their tracks, the Russians basically make all the same tools freely available on the Dark Web, the more people that use them the greater the smokescreen for their own activities.

The only thing that keeps you safe, is not attracting the crooks attention.

Jacob Weitering was both very studious and very academic at school, a good student who actually prioritised his studies over football. He scored highly in ATAR, he's not one to be gullible or careless. The people that scammed Weiters didn't do it with a simple click of a mouse, they apparently set him up over months of messages and correspondance.

Probably a bit harsh there Thry. It can happen to anyone, especially a professional sportsman with a million footy related things on his mind. It only takes one brain fade.

Frustrating was Harry in the 3rd quarter trying to convert and then watching that rain maker kick that got swept away down forward...does all the hard work taking marks then just doesnt concentrate at the critical times and that proved a momentum shifter.

Last year we were contested bulls, dominating from stoppages. This we rank 17th for clearances. Work rate has dropped right off. Don't want it badly enough. Played one good game for the year, round 2 against Geelong.

Ive said this in another thread, and I think we are better off playing a game without one of Charlie or Harry to understand what else is there just in case, that if he cops a week for that then every single head high contact must be sighted and taken to the tribunal.  Spoils are worse than what sheezel copped from Harry.

Definitely not a Clarkson fan but I have no problem with his press conference. He was out of his comfort zone, tried to engage the young 7 yo who was overawed and spoke genuinely about the child and his family. Giving a kid a pat on the  back and ruffling his hair, while speaking about years of illness and surgeries. If we have a problem with that, maybe we are the ones with the problem. Well done both clubs and both coaches, great messages all round!

Been doing it for a while under the guise he is a just a tough awkward bloke and its all accidental......Cerra copped a fend off in the eye and I think Harry copped a punch to the head(not sure if it was Zurhaar) but the whole game was played with Nth going the cheap shot when available. Clarkson must have thought he was back in London and his blokes could just tee off on ours.
We need someone to dish it back and just crumple Zurhaar and stop how he plays vs us....I always think back to Liam Jones on the boundary and how he got badly hurt from another accidental Zurhaar incident.

Cerra had his best game for the season for mine.  He has been another good investment.

I understand this viewpoint. But I also think it is sad that masculine affection is viewed with a certain concern and suspicion, a sorry situation with its origins in a shocking history, over many decades, even centuries, of a small % of males abusing and molesting innocent young people from a position of authority and trust. Most males find these actions of a minority of seedy men despicable... and many an abuser has found himself on the wrong end of a fist, or worse, when every day blokes find out what has been done to an innocent young person (by one of these 'sickos').

Perhaps because I am an expressively affectionate man by nature, though I do respect and understand boundaries - especially with girls/women, I saw Clarkos affection as nothing untoward, simply a genuine care for the young fella. He wanted to connect with the young fella through sincere touch. I get that. I'd like to think that had the young fella been a young girl, Clarko would not have been the same, as Vossy did (with a young girl).

And to add to that, although I am far from a fan of Clarko the person, I thought his thoughts on us and obvious respect for us was pretty classy.
