People forget that, although we won some games, the primary objectives for this year is setting standards and player/list development.
We won't be giving guys games JUST because they are young or get a few kicks in the magoos.
Sustained adherence to the tasks set to the players is what matters. People whingeing at the MC for picking Tutt, White, Walker etc need to be directing their disappointment at DVR, Jaksch, Foster, Gowers, Buckley etc for not performing well enough to warrant a call up.
Gorringe only got selected because we had nobody else to ruck.
You should all get used to this because this is what it takes to set standards!
Will be an almighty test for our boys, but just looking at the two teams i cant see us getting within 5 goals of them. But footy is a funny game.
If we bring the same pressure we brought against the cats for 4 quarters and never give up i'll be happy. Regardless of whether we win or lose im just hoping for a good contest and some more of those so called sprouts.
Hope Tutt repays the faith we have shown in him and starts to give us some decent, consistent games at senior level.
Would've been good to see Tomlinson, Marchbank, Stewart and Hoskin-Elliot in action as its no secret we are apparently heavily into those GWS fringe players again this year.
Its going to be sunny and 16 degrees with light wind tomorrow so conditions are perfect.
........and apparently you can stream it from outside Vic as well.
Nice, spewing Curnow and McKay are in the magoos of the magoos but heres hoping they get through unscathed and can get some decent games under their belt in VFL this year. Any senior games are a bonus
Armfield for Tutt is a no-brainer imo as they are as about like for like as you'll get with pace on our list and Tutt can kick a goal. Tutt is quick and he has earned his shot in the seniors to see if he can make a decent fist of it. I hope he does make it but if he doesnt get a crack soon to prove something then his papers are surely stamped.
Gorringe for Phillips. Gorringe has shown that he is worth persevering with as a forward and maybe a big winger. Bottom line is Kreuze needs help against Mummy and Sauce will give MK a decent chop out
Probably wont happen but White and Everitt need a spell in the magoos and Jones deserves another shot. KJ has been kicking goals and can swing back if needed and i'd like to see him get a crack at his old side.
My favourite footy show was Before the Game on a Saturday night with Lehmo, molloy, Hughesy, Sam lane and Maher.
I really used to enjoy cracking a can and listening to their banter, then they tried to go head to head on a thursday night with TFS and didn't last too long after that. Shame really.
It was glaring for all to see our lack of leg speed against the aints. We desperately need an injection of pace and class in the Midfield at the end of the year.
Here's hoping guys like Buckley, Boekhorst and Cunningham can sort that out in the second half of the year.
Murph isn't slow either and it would nice to have him back in the midfield rotation as well.
Tutt has been averaging almost 30 touches a game and is super quick, Josh Fraser has been singing his praises. Can he finally transfer that VFL form into regular senior games. I'd like him to. At 25 he is still young enough to make a decent fist of it.
There was only one real opponent that J Steven should've had, and that is Armfield.
After having some time to reflect it was plain for all and sundry to see, too cute with the footy.
Over-possessing the pill just allowed the saints to close up space defensively and smash us on the rebound.
Honestly i reckon Cripps goes 3rd man up too often, if its effective more often than not im all for it but its 50/50 at best and leaves us a man down on the ground around the stoppage.
Sharking Hickeys taps was a must, didn't happen
Weitering should've been our 7th man in defence, not on Membrey whom i rate highly. The Irish boys were the perfect match up for him.
Our team structure/defence fell down, which meant our backs were inundated.
Kreuze has lost the ability to jump over opponents which wasn't his strength anyway but he mistimes a lot of jumps. He's great around the ground but he struggled against Hickey yesterday
We looked really bad yesterday, got beaten by a bunch of no names apart from Steven and Membrey.
Sack him, delist him, get the big name, we'll never be anything with .......... in the side. Need to go back to basics, like working as a team
Phillips plays today instead of yesterday and it's a different game. Sorry but cant see how Phillips would've been any better, hickey mashed us, and we werent defensive side of steven, gave them no respect and we was pantsed
Team looked flat, need more speed around the footy, no ruck. team looked $h1t, need more Murphy around the footy, no Gorringe
It's year 1. You're reasoning is unassailable it is year 1, thanks for pointing that out. I feel so much better knowing its year 1
Hope we are as aggressive at the trade table as we were last year, that was just poo.
Gibbs back to his old tricks again, 0 tackles Gorringe was stinky Cas and 1AW kicked 3 each so they only just get a reprieve, just Everitt was stinky
Geez we frigg around the pill a lot, 416 touches to 354
they beat us 70 tackles to 43, stinky
i50's 64-48 in their favour
Because we screw around with the ball a $h1tload all the boys stats look good, but i'm really going to struggle handing out votes after that display of insipidness
