This is a direct result of a decade of allowing players like Murphy and Gibbs essentially dictate the effort they're willing to commit.

No selection integrity and this has permeated through the entire club. If you're a high draft pick you're treated differently and you can be conditional in your effort.

All you people defending the crap efforts over the years of players like Murphy, welcome to your Carlton football club. The softest, most listless and uncaring group of players ever to wear the Guernsey. Well done! Hope you like what you see...

Direct result.   mml.

I don't know whether this has been posted before but this article may explain why we have been struggling and will continue to do so unless things change.

Those boys do some very good work.

It was also mentioned by Jennings on SEN how we leak red time scores.   Seems our fitness is still a massive issue and many of our players are jogging late in quarters and games and our midfield doesn't get back to defend.

Make some of our match committee selections more puzzling.    Going too tall and rushing back under done players who can't run out games.

That assumes he was a kill, and not a voluntary departure as is stated.

Perhaps the thing he reads are further pending hub style competitions and he might not be willing to do that, if so he won't be on his lonesome, there will be other coaches and some players who opt if this happens again!

Timing is too neat for mine.   Went before he was pushed.   Either way.    Same result.

Thanks GTC. Not sure I agree with the second point, but the others sound OK to me.

Agree.   Sounds like a sacked ex-coach that had players who didn't like his direction and went over his head.    Salty.

No one is infallible and you would hope that the senior player speak for the playing group.

I would be interested in what players that have come from successful sides like Fogarty, Betts and even Pittonet think of our set up.     Cripps and Docherty have never played in a successful side.

Barker would have read the tea leaves.    11 odd year with no success.   He was an easy kill

Liddle has defined the path we are on, set the goals and has to be accountable for where we are.

Some of it.    The big question about SOS's rebuild was the midfield.

He added Kennedy and Setterfield via trades.
Drafted Dow, O'Brien, Cuningham, Petrevski-Seton, Fisher, Stocker and Philp
After SOS we add Williams on good money.

And.... our midfield is still an issue.     Others factors at play and you could add development and tactics to recruitment.

Oh the defend Murphy brigade.

No passengers and he has been a passenger for years now. Didnt even look like he was trying today or last week when he came on.

Oh the bag Murphy brigade.   Did you see when he short stepped that contest.   Can't remember then, but it was right in front of me.   He doesn't go hard enough.   It's dribble to be honest.

The bloke is playing half forward flank.   Sheed and the midfield smashed us.

"Spose football you dont really deserve anything um as much as what Ive sort of feel Ive been a pretty loyal servant to the footy club...last weekend I was pretty frustrated..I think anyone who's played a lot of football...and to be left out of the side would feel the same way..its a natural thing to feel"

Yes Marc, however dont air dirty laundry, cop your medicine and move on. You aren't above criticism.

if I was the coach, I'd say to him "have another week son".

Is that it?   Was there more to the interview?

Disappointing.    Murphy should have been a bit more honest.    Bonehead decision to drop him.   Only one of a few blokes to hit a target in the 3rd against the Hawks.   But lets play an under done Martin and Casboult in defense.    Did we run out of legs again?   WHAT??   Who would have thought that might happen?

Still need Murphy's class.   It great having all these guys that have a crack and are hard at it only to watch them turn it over and watch the ball sail over their head for a goal.

Levi has been injured all year. I don't know if he is fit now, but i think we need him simply for insurance purposes.
We have 2 key backs....with Williams as our 3rd tall??
We have 1 key forward and a ruck/forward in TDK....with....Silvagni as our 3rd tall.
We have 1 ruck in Pittonet. (with help from TDK).
If any one of them goes down, our structure is out the window.
Levi can cover any of those areas nicely.

Personally i'd station him at CHB and say don't move from there. Don't worry about an opponent, just sit there. Weiters and Jones will do the rest.

Casboult won't win us the game based on his efforts.
But his inclusion in the side could stop us from losing it if we get an injury.

Could we use him as the sub instead? Possibly.

Don't typically pick guys just incase someone else gets injured.

If he plays back then I guess Weiters can play smaller.    Franklin and a resting ruckman (Sinclair/McLean) typically an ideal match up for Jones.

If Pittonet is in the ruck and Levi is played forward then it's McKay, TDK and Levi all in the forward line at times.   I don't see the need for it unless Levi is in super form.

An extra runner for mine.   This is a winnable game.   Hopefully the match committee have this one right.
