I have just watched the replay.  Leaving aside problems caused by poor foot skills and an inability to control use of the ball at the end of quarters, the real problem is the stress put on our midfielders by having to play to a losing ruck match after match.

What a difference it would have made tonight if we had had a  tall, mobile ruckman who was able to give our mids a better than even chance of getting first use of the ball.

If we have to go into next season with Pittonet as our main ruckman then we are almost certain to have the same inconsistent results during 2023 as we have had this year.

HF Silvagni Curnow Fisher
FF Motlop McKay De Koning
R Pittonet Walsh Cerra
Int Owies Martin Durdin Carrol
Med Sub Newnes

Out Dow  Cripps Setterfield

Think this side might still be top heavy, we need speed and spread to stand any chance, one of TDK or PIT may miss. Maybe we play SOS as a mid to run with Oliver.
In Stocker Pittonet Carrol

Josh Honey will be going back to the 2's next week. he had 4 possessions for the day; 4 handballs and 1 tackle. He did a couple of other things that don't show in the stats, but he really didn't have a good day.
Will Hayes got 5 possessions in half of a quarter. he came on for Newnes.

Durdin only had 10 possessions, but kicked 2 goals and had 5 tackles. His pressure in the forward half is good.

We missed Owies. I hope his injury, whatever it is, comes good sooner rather than later.

Motlop was also much less impressive this week, but he is a work in progress.

To be honest, if we had a full list to choose from, both Honey and Motlop would go back to the VFL. But we haven't had a full list to choose from this century yet.

Weitering will be better for the run. Pity we get only a 6 day break.

Agree with this a fit Cunningham, Martin and Owes makes things interesting!

I am still very upset about last night, we got completely screwed. Holding the ball, hanging onto players, if Harry got the free kicks Lynch gets he kick 150 a year. The two goal line decisions were exactly 180 flips Docherty's cannot be overturned as there is not enough evidence, fair enough, then the second one must be the same?

The Tigers time is just about done, they end will likely come fast for them, eight players over 30 to none last night.

I'm with you EB on Stocker. Sat behind the goals in the game against Collingwood and he was tough and hard at it and clobbered Ginnivan a couple of times off the ball nicely. Yes, his disposal can let him down at times but we seem to have too many offensive type defenders who don't really lock down on opponents and Stocker looks like he can do that. I also floated the idea of Dow on a wing sometime back too....he's got good leg speed. But if he can't find another spot and make it his own, it's hard to see him breaking into the lineup as an inside midfielder.

He only runs hard one way. Pretty sure he's been told it's two way running or he's done. He lopes after people without the ball and explodes with it. The gap is to big.
