I think we're all at different stages of belief at the moment in terms of how far we can go in the current season.
The way I look at it is, any wins from this point on are a bonus. In fact any wins from the end of the home and away are a bonus. While the 'ride' is still going let's just enjoy it If it does come to an end at some stage in the next few weeks then hopefully we go down fighting but in any event 2026 has given us a lot to be pleased about... We've seen the development of some really good young players and some of our older guys have recaptured some previous good form and enthusiasm. As Fraser keeps saying though, we're not the finished product, and there are still things we need to work on.
Went to the game. Wasn't great in terms of skills, but we stuck the process and found a way to win. We problem solve during the game and we appear fitter than previous years. Just need to finish off the good work up forward, thats one of the missing pieces. I felt calm in the last quarter, didn't feel like we were losing this one. Bring on the cats
Imo, we just need to try and reduce Gawn's marking impact around the ground. Not worried about anything else he does, our mids can ruck to his hitouts.
What has florent bought that we couldnt get from either saad or charleson?
Florents knock is his kicking. Saads knock is his kicking. Charleson has been borderline getting a game a but this year. Without florent, he would most likely got a gig by now.
Florent has been solid without being spectacular, he didn't come cheap though. Could we do without him?
Florent came for a future 3rd round pick so in trade terms didn't cost a lot. His kicking is miles ahead of Saad IMO who is at the tail end of his career and has brought an additional element of composure to the team, he’s been an absolute revelation.
And he's tough and runs in straight lines rather than at right angles or in circles lije Saad
We made to the wildcard round so lets celebrate this achievement from where we came from. A bloody great effort! Sure, not our best performance. The Dogs had nothing to lose and were ferocious and committed - took our time and space away. But we found a way to come from behind and get the draw, so kudos to the boys.
On the SEN website they're saying Young out and Weitering in. Seems a little harsh IMO.
If so, it's not only harsh but robs us of some flexibility. Weiters is one of the best key defenders in the game but that's it. He might put his hand up for the odd ruck contest but he hasn't played as a forward since his second season and has kicked just two goals in the nine seasons since then. Young has shown that he can pinch hit in the ruck and is competent as a KPD or KPF.
I guess that someone has to miss out and whoever does will be stiff.
Hold the phone! So now Weitering replacing Young is harsh? Granted he has played a couple of good games but he is not even in the same discussion as Weters in terms of importance to the team unless I have been on Mars the last few years!
Every time we get back in it, the Filth kick multiple goes from our errors. I know Guv was gassed when he took that shot for goal but for fecks sake it was embarrassing!
Our Mids and Rucks are generally too nice, we do not take any toll out on the opposition, this is despite being generally bigger and heavier than our opponents.
Maybe not Reidy though, he has a bit of a mean streak!
Bit of a mean streak! Let's just say I hope Pitto is recovering well... If anyone runs the potential of getting reported if the game gets hot, it'd be Reidy.
Maybe Reidy can man up Maynard when he's not rucking. Those 2 would have a lovely time together 😉
Collingwood would be deservedly starting as favorites, but not by much IMO. I think some in the AFL world would be spooked by the Hawthorn game, which is not unreasonable. I give us a slight chance, but we need 4 quarters of good footy and 18/23 contributors. And if it comes down to "taking our moments" hopefully we're good enough - the Pies have a few players who are good in that space.
They’ve taken their moments against us when it counts, same story for the last 5 games or so. We definitely owe them a 4 quarter performance, for our own sanity if nothing else.
Agree. We absolutely can beat Collingwood, the issue is mental not talent IMO. Play to win as previously mentioned, take our chances and we win. They aren't that good overall talent but they are seasoned and disciplined.
Those bad habits I saw sneaking in last week are amplified tonight, keep watching and count how many times you see two Carlton players watching the ball roll past them each waiting for the other to pick it up.
Fraser's first 5 or 6 weeks were different, but the honeymoon is over.
Agree LP. Too many sitting back waiting for someone else to do the hard work.
