Commentating - honestly, does the league nor TV stations not care one iota about professionalism? The amount of talent chomping at the bit to be footy commentators and we are left with a parochial Adelaidean and the recent ex coach of our opposition. I heard more about Butters being half back than I did about the entirety of our team and performance.
This is not just bias, it is unprofessional. Sick Of these old guys commentating games when there is young talent wanting to do it but get no look in.
This was a great win! Lots to Learn from - Flynn and Billy and Derks made a few Errors - particularly i feel for Flynn as he obvs felt he needed to kick the goal To be valuable and missed it! But look how much better Billy played with a bit On continuity.
Dean is just chef’s kiss- He makes errors But he has innate confidence within himself.
Jagga is chefs kiss - the speed of those hands. Ison and Byrne are terrific.
Look at Jagga's reaction to Saturday night. The kid was in tears after the game. As it is playing for carlton is hard work. Its harder work when you arent winning.
We need to breed a winners mentality and that means forgoing the extra draft pick, and taking the hit. Tanking will not get us anywhere because our team is far too fragile to be conditional.
What we should be doing, is absolutely flogging everyone at training, so that way we lose because we arent good enough yet, and condition them to be fitter and stronger in the process.
Agree! We have had more than enough high draft picks and its done screw all for us.
I agree with townsendcalling around moving Kemp into the backline. His kicking for goal reached a new level on Friday, and not in a good way. Think this will completely shatter his confidence, so swing him back for a bit to hopefully get some back. I'd probably drop Wilson, unfortunately. Very disappointed in his game. Same with Saad. Shouldn't have been picked in the first place. Give Ison OR Moir a run as I don't think we can afford to play both.
Gosh would be harsh to drop billy after finally getting a game.
I am still struggling to get my head around how this team can play 7-8 weeks of utter sh1te and look like a basketcase so badly.
Next thing we see is against the reigning premiers, once again, play like a totally incompetent busted butthole in the first half and then magically transform into near worldbeaters in the second half and nearly pinch it from them.
What did they drink, smoke or inject in the rooms at halftime ??
What pixie dust did they have sprinkled on them ??
What did Voss do or say that completely changed their mindset and application so dramatically ??
The other big question now has to be, was this a one off 'flash in the pan' or will the raised standards continue for the remainder of the season ??
Not wanting to be a wet blanket but... Or to what degree did Brisvegas ease up, even just a little?
Wondered this too.
Was it more they had it won and just held us at arms length to win it or did we legitimately turn it around against the top play of the Lions?
Of course it doesn't, and physically and mentally not every player is going to be like that... I was trying in a round about way to say we need more in the team to show that kind of passion and pride in playing for the CFC jumper - which seems to be lacking with some of the more senior players, at least for a full four quarters......... and when that happens it becomes a team pandemic unfortunately; as we see on a weekly basis. Don't worry, Dean will have the Carlton Way hammered into him in the next few months..
To give but one example : pushing a guy into the fence, then apologizing, then as result giving away a free kick from the goal square, so effectively two goals within seconds to the opposition - this is your idea of showing "passion and pride in playing for the CFC jumper'?
To say nothing of the fact that he is likely to be rubbed out for a time.
He is young and was probably incredibly frustrated being put under immense pressure again - IIRC that was the 5th incoming goal in a 5 minute period.
Not good enough by our snr players and our coach and coaching staff - not even close!
