OK guys, enjoy.
Nice goal CC.
Orange socks ?
Doc in at the bounces and Simmo further up the ground. Like.
Umpire McInerny off to a flyer, gifted the Dogs first 2 frees, I cringe whenever I see we get this flog????????
Did I just see us using the corridor and a quick, direct kick into our F50 ?
Woo Hoo. Progress.
No Daisy, late out, might come back to bite us if its a close game later on. Helps with structures and rallying the troops. We have A LOT of young and inexperienced players in the lineup with losing both White and Cripps as well.
Hopefully we kick away and make it a dead game in the last.
Boeky with a nice sidestep makes it 3!
Boeky made amends for that weak attack at the footy with a goal
Grrrrrrr. Bont did the right thing and shanked it.
Weiters. Rookie mistake.
Jacob, Jacob, Jacob :(
Nice to see some direct play, mark in the 50 & goal
McInerny 4 - nil
Can somebody teach our blokes to tackle FFS!!!!!!!!
weitering is having a shocker
2 goals
Write ring with a missed tackle you would have expected him to make just cost us a goal. Exciting stuff when we break, but we seem to off set it by some simple mistakes
I missed the start and turned on when it was 19-2. Since then we've cocked everything up. Sorry everyone, my bad.
Putting him up forward early in the year hurt his confidence. Anyway, form is temporary, class is permanent. He'll be a good player for us for the next 10 years or more. Hopefully the class returns soon!
Breaking down at 1/2 forward ATM , delivery scratchy
Off you go, you must have a lawn to mow that'll take a couple of hours...lol
Mow the concrete if you have to, just turn your tv off. ;D
Nice start, we should have been further in front. Their goals were all due to our errors, thats a good sign. We must must must stick tackles agains this mob.
I was doing some wall sanding. Looks like I'm getting back to it then haha
Good direct footy and straight kicking.
Yes, that wall can't wait all day. Off you go, i'm sure you're very busy...haha!
Buckley not going hard enough.
More desperation needed Dylan if you want any hope beyond this week.
Not sure how much with weitering is confidence, and how much of it is just lack of experience with structures.
A lot of his pre-season work was done with the forwards. Perhaps he's a bit out of his depth and feeling out of place in the backline at the moment.
He wouldn't have played with Jones/Silvagni/Buckley in the back line before.
They do seem to have a lot of time with the ball in their hand and able to find handballs with what seems like ease.
Defensive structure looks good as usual.
Not sure why we are not going to Cas/Curnow more in on our treks forward because they both started very strongly.
The kick from (was it Fisher?) across the face instead of going long seems especially errant.
I think we can play better, yet we have a lead so that is the positive. The downside is of course the dogs can play a fair bit better than that also.
Let's see what we can do this quarter?
FMD!!!!!!!
More goals from our mistakes.
Dumb dumb dumb dumb football
Okay we are much worse this quarter than they are and we need to pull it in right away
5 in a fecking row!!!!!
Head gear is tearing us a new one.
Question: Is there any farken danger that one of our farken fwds can farken get on a lead and one of our farken mids kick the farken thing in front of the faken leading fwd farken?
Finally , direct play & goal
Lewis Young, their number 33, sagging off our blokes and marking everything coming into our forward 50.....it's his first game according to the AFL App????????????
He has started or been involved in every play thats led to a goal.
Just how much time did dogs have with the ball from that center bounce, a player should have 1.. perhaps 2 seconds max from a center bounce, he had basically 3-4 seconds to just run in a circle and deliver.
Ridiculous center play
Helmet is absolutely murdering us.
We are burning through A LOT of energy chasing tail.
Unless we start getting some reward for effort, this will get ugly late in the game as our kids will tire.
I think the dogs have been told to take us on, our tackling has been very weak
It's already ugly. This could be 100pt drubbing if we don't do something quickly.
A few years ago, we were doing some joint training sessions with the Storm guys... We were showing them kicking skills and they were showing us tackling. I remember at that time we were a great tackling side. I reckon it's time to look at something similar again. Or at least try and get an NRL tackling coach consulting.
And anyone who doesnt think Ed is important to our side watch todays game. Mids out of control everywhere.
Have to admit, we have had some love from the umps in the "holding the ball" department today.
Helmet 3 votes
Dissappointing qtr, many turn overs , couldn't find any space, didn't react well to the doggies pressure
Dogs one rotation done with Stringer's string. Hopefully they tire and we run over the top, I did say hopefully.
That kept threatening to get ugly.
Need some of the big boys to start smashing some bodies and opening up our forward line.
Not an enjoyable quarter to watch at all.
It is always hard to control emotion, because you are more emotional now, than in say rounds 2-3.
But to me that was one of our worst quarters for the year (and we have had quite a few worse quarters on the scoreboard).
Simply we are smashing the hitouts, equaling the clearances, but not looking like winning the ball around the ground and not looking dangerous going forward.
We must stick some tackles, that is point number 1. If Bolts could only give 1 message this half time break it should be... Stick tackles and stick them hard.
Give away a few frees if absolutely necessary, but hold up play and stick some farking tackles.
Oh and there is no reason to fear this side, this is not the reigning premiers, this is a team short on confidence and form. We are reinvigorating them
Kruezer is killing it in the ruck and sorry but I ain't t seeing our midfield doing much :-\
Just get a hold of the momentum of the game.
Dogs got on a run and we couldn't stop it.
Flood back sooner and if we do get possession, do our sideways/backwards kicking thing to take a bit of the sting out of the game. We let them get too far ahead and now we'll struggle to kick a score to get us back in it.
From AFL Match Center:
Four players for the Bulldogs recorded double digit disposals in the second term. By comparison, 10 Blues players had three disposals or less. This came off the back of the Bulldogs winning uncontested possessions 89-54 this quarter.
'Pressure acts' are fine, but players like SPS and Fisher need to be creative and play makers as well. They have no real influence on the game.
Our spud factor is high and their good players are getting too much footy.....Docherty on the ball hasnt worked and needs to be back across half back.
Weitering has been woeful, Simpson not much better and the little man Caleb Daniel continues his good form against us.
Pros...Nick Graham playing one of his best games IMO, using the ball well and working hard, Boekhorst was ok early and Liam Jones has been reliable.
Why we kick across goal to one on two contests etc and continue to kick short in the backline is beyond me...Dogs have lived off our mistakes.
We've got too many scrubbers in the side, pure and simple.
Cripps leaves a gaping hole.
Cripps would be looking at Kreuzer in the ruck and thinking what a great day it "could" have been in the middle ::)
Getting to be a long season for them.
Are the Bullies on world record pace for intercepts?
Just thinking the same G2C
Woeful, that gap btw our best and worst is far too big still.
35, 39 and 6 must either be smeared in crap or have the worst BO as no one will go near them.
Being Cripps-less today shouldn't have been an issue with the type of service we've been getting.
Imagine how bad we'll be when we play a good team with a competent ruckman?! :-[
Would love to see Buckley make it, but not seeing the result we need
Whatever issues Casboult has, the way we are playing does him no favours at all. They just don't kick it to him, even when he has a clear advantage. I don't know if this is down to instruction, poor decision making, or lack of confidence in him, but gee I couldn't think of much worse gigs than being one of our forwards.
Time to start a fight.
1 goal in 20 entries!!!!
Gee we make it hard for our forwards , SOJ was in space but couldn't find a pass on his chest. Our delivery is a real issue today
1 goal from 20 inside 50s !!!!!
Can someone tell me how Brian Taylor gets a gig? Fair suck... If he was a dog, you wouldn't feed him!
Shows clearly we are able to win the ball & create the opportunities , but cant hit a target
Was there any need to grab the jumper?
Just bad entries, bad setups, and bad decision making. Bolts may be a genius in defensive setups, but our forward setups just aren't working
Dogs are just toying with us.
Some really stupid & lazy tackles costing us today.
Just to prove my point about feckwit BT, he is seriously suggesting that Simpson may have taken the feet, whilst in the act of diving on the ball. You fecking dog ball licking piece of crape!
Charlie Curnow, despite his limited opportunities today, is absolutely a class above his team mates.
The only bloke in our team I am confident when shooting for goal.
Nice kick from Wright, even with all our misadventure forward, we still hang in there
CC definitely has the class, but like most of his team mates, has really gone missing for the last 30 odd minutes.
Just crapehouse
Geez that was a pathetic goal to give up. After so much pressure, giving that up was just disgusting
this is a disgrace. Our blokes should just not turn up in the last quarter if this is the tripe we are going to dish up.
When you don't have any forwards in your side, there's a fair chance that their backs are just surrounding him waiting for us to bomb it and converge on him.
What he needs to do is LEAD at the guy with the ball.
Most of our marks inside 50 are pagans paddock style running back.
We don't know how to lead at the ball carrier.
Dissappointing to let those goals back in red time . Let's see what the boys bring in the last qtr.
I don't even know if I can watch this last quarter, feel physically sick at that last 5 minutes.
I've also noticed that we never ever lead to the ball carrier. Waite was the last forward to do this regularly. How hard can it be ?
It is not those leading making the errors today, the delivery is unbelievably poor.
I felt physically sick at the footy last week.
Turns out it was gastro.
Was not a fun car ride home.....didn't make it. :-[
And way too many of our ball carriers can't Fking kick to save themself.
Graham twice that quarter just needed to hit a 20 metre target and we get an easy shot at goal. Mucked both up.
Our kicking into F50 today is back to the malthouse days!
Another unpleasant quarter to watch.
They do look knackered though. Simpsons kick into the dogs player when we should've been going towards goal! So frustrating!
Let them have two easy ones at the end so dead quarter now
I'm not disputing our mids are not using it well.
When you have Kerridge and Graham as 2 of your best mids, you take what you can get.
But i'm not talking specifically about this week. We just don't lead properly, Casboult prefers to run and jump at the high ball as it leaves him closer to goal.
Charlie and Jack don't quite have the leg to take the ball around the 50.
Leaves us very 1-dimensional and adds to our forwardline issues.
my thoughts exactly, would have loved to have him still, as a player, and maybe to show some of our forwards technique .
Lacking penetration so far in the last qtr keeping hold of the ball but nothing on the scoreboard
I understand why Bolton is keen to play his flooding, keepings off style. But I simply don't agree with it.
Alex down to the rooms.
Charlie showing class with his kick & goal Imagine if we could hit targets
We need to get that midfield right this year whatever it takes
Why are we the frigging team who ALWAYS plays other teams and payers back into form. F**ks me off no end for the last upteen years.
JJ has been targetting physically for the past month and has struggled with form big time.
So what do we do?
Try a different tactic and let him run loose on his own. :-[
confidence is class. HE claimed he is a swingman. He likes that role.
I think he's playing hurt
Well played by Fisher kept the ball in created the goal opportunity
I realise people say Jack has a good footy brain, but I'm not seeing it. I guess he just forgot to pack it today.
I know he works hard, but I see him as an ordinary footballer.
Yes, I know he's young and he might still come good.
In a poor performance there's plenty to like about Zac Fisher.
Even then. Murphy streaming into F50, Wright one-on-one. Instead of leading at Murphy, he was forced to kick high to the contest.
LEAD at the ball carrier!!!!
Can Kerridge f**k it up more than he does. I don't even think he could try!
The Dogs have set up very well at contests and when the ball hits the deck. They always seem to have players in the right place at the right time.
Exceeding all expectations.
Was 50-50 on if he was going to be drafted. Longer odds to make it.
Give the kid a break.
...and yet again....Casboult the momentum killer.
I reckon Boekhurst has been ok today.
Energy still there , Gee Levi, seemed to take that easy
Is he exceeding expectations ? What were the expectations to begin with ?
And if you are looking for a forward who works hard for position and knows how to lead, he is about the only one in our side.
I just said. He was borderline to be drafted. Lucky to play a game.
Not only has he played, plenty, he is kicking goals. Picked regularly.
Seems our bench is almost full of injuries
What was Murphy thinking then???
What's Byrne's injury ?
Lack of Rotations didn't help in the last qtr , lack of goal options through the game is still or Achilles heel
IMO, he looks exactly like a player that was borderline to be drafted.
He's picked regularly for the same reason Casboult is.
On the bright side even when we play crap we hang in. That'd been 10 goals+ a couple of years ago. Injuries kicking in, young blokes feeling the long season. Bit like the Richmond game, we never got going.
Post game thread is open.
