All set for the game. Pity I won't be seeing any of it.
Watching the pregame, never realised Cameron Mooney grew up a Bluebagger. Says he had 43 on his back because he loved Kouta, reckons he loves CC now because of the similarities.
As i said in the other thread, if we lose by 4-5 goals MORE than what Gold coast lose by against Port, we'll slip to 17th.
Early goal to Tippet is not a good start.
And not getting better goal to Buddy
Cannot get our hands on it ATM.
Game being played in the Swans half, we can't break past half forward line.
We look to small, very weak, and I can't see us scoring at all today ::)
Terrible kick by Army
Mad Monday has started early... we are not looking like we wanna be out there..... very ordinary so far.
Fluffy ducks are just toying with us at the moment. We simply cannot continue with this "first kick backwards or sideways" next season.
Here we come ;)
Getting smashed, but game been played on our terms, which means its just a few goals in it.
Slowly clawed back into the game, but not where it counts on the scoreboard
Q1 looked like top v bottom, with bottom putting up a good fight.
Go Blues
Mids smashed so far
Casboult has checked out, last game in Navy I reckon. 105 kg witches hat ATM.
Cue is in the rack it seems . Our grand final was last week.
Listening to radio coverage today so can't comment too much. However it does seem like we are using tactics and structures rather than relying on talent so much. Commentators saying we are starting to find ways out of D50
His missus is 4 days from giving birth. Mind is there i'd say. Being a forward today though is one crap task.
Odd game, Levi, looking injured , hoping that instead of lack of interest, no forward structure at all. Don't look to have any scoring avenues
Buddy starting to look ominous!
Sounds like we are being smashed in the stoppages?
Reckon those commentators can be safely ignored. Too many drugs.
Byrne down, looks like a knee
Pickett almost kicked a great goal, then tripped. Hopefully will go one better next season.
Really has some toe the little fella.
Byrnes just done his knee
Ok.
Damn, Byrne injured again. :(
Yep, swans player fell across it. Doesnt look good.
The long run from Pickett, the sublime and stupid all rolled into one.
Giant Slayer Jones doesn't seem to be getting much help today. Feel sorry for him tbh.
FFS! ridiculous 'advantage' call to rohan that led to Franklin's 2nd goal.
Good goal Kreuz!
Sinclair and Tippet looking sick!
Delivery in the 50 is just ordinary at best f times, but today , non existent
Bingo. Unless he is injured he has definitely given up and is goneski! >:(
All 3 goals have been scrappy hacked lucky goals... no delivery lace out for our forwards
Back in it!
Game changing in our favour, we are getting our hands on the ball more , Boekhorst goals 10pt game
So Byrne has done a knee, it's probably over for him if that is the case, despite his contract status.
Any news on Byrne, god I pray it's just a dead leg corky or a hip...?
If Boeky could add a hard edge to his game, you can really see what he brings - he's smooth and certainly has skills, and a good decision maker. But without that hard edge, he's just too flaky.
Levi!!
5 points down - who knew ?
Goal Levi, 1 goal game, not pretty , but perseverance wins out
Not 100 % sure about Byrne... didnt look good Rohan smothered across his knee and he hobbled off with trainers...
Finally a goal from a pass into thr fwd 50.... 5 pts down
Razor strikes again!
FMD, harsh intentional against Jones, followed by harsh HTB and then Jones played-on, not called. Take a bow Razor >:(
Godo pressure from the boys. Swans may go into survival mode if their two big boys aren't 100%... gotta hang tough!
Anyway, still in it at ht
Swans goal on siren! Fark!
Looked very much like Lamb was just punched in the guts right in front of Razor... but no Free Kick paid?
Since that's cue's been in the rack we've come good..lol.
It didn't look good at all.
Showed some fancy dance steps then tripped over his own feet... Very special talent. Can't wait til he can pull it all together.
Yes, there's definitely something to work with - what he did before he tripped is silk.
I hope those who take pleasure in putting Casboult down noted how hard he worked to mark and goal.
He's not having a great game but he is working hard.
The amount of time he spent down on the ground and the look of anguish on his face would suggest he heard the dreaded pop and knows its another reco.
Re: Byrne
Looked to me like Rohan's smother pressured Byrne's good knee, hyper extending it :-\
Hope it's not structural
Bloody Gary Rohan, bad crap happens around that bloke too often for it to be just chance, he's an indiscriminate player.
Geez mate give the guy a chance. D menzel did it 4 times!
Just that it usually happens to him.
He's innocent, just a good hard at it player that bad things happen around, like Jack Ziebell!
Yep. Has spent a lot of time out injured.
It's looking like another noble loss, all our tickets spent or recovering from a shizen start!
Would take a 20 goal loss if bryne is cleared of a acl. Feel so much for him. Seems a great character around the club and just sickening luck if he has done the other knee.
Has heart and can play. Whatever the outcome I hope we persist with him.
Weiters, like last week, has started well. Little ZacAttack is his usual pesky pressure unit. Kruez is doing that "big mid" thing again. He's milked the opportunities whilst swans rucks were off. Clever footballer is he ;)
Commentators say Casboult was tentative as if playing with knee probs. On cue, he clunked a nice mark, and put it through.
We stuck to our system and got the better of them q2.
If we can maintain our intensity, we'll pester them.
Go Blues
It seems like the right thing to do, but it's a professional sport.
Would his pay out be covered by insurance, how would it affect our TPP?
Working hard?
That's generous
Bad lack for Byrne and wouldn't wish that on anyone, but having said that, he showed his inexperience there. Every man and his dog could see that he was never going to get that kick off. He never should've attempted the kick as it was always going to be smothered, or at best, forced out on the full.
Lack of awareness contributed to the injury unfortunately.
I said earlier that Graham could be playing for his career and should get 30 in ideal conditions for him. Only got 8 at half time, with only 1 kick. He needs to do more.
Who's on heeney?
Well done Daisy
Do not understand the selection, Plowman and Silvagni should have been Jaksch in as a re-organisation of the defensive setup.
Graham might get 30, but they'll be worthless if he misses 20 targets, we just cannot afford to settle for this type of player as a depth player if we are to move forward.
Going backwards when we have trouble moving into the 50 is hard to take, but when we turn it over while going backwards is just deadly . Can't understand this type of play
Excellent D pressure Pickett
Excellent offensive pressure Pickett
We seem to be handing out a few turnovers!
Don't let the door hit your ar.e on the way out Levi, you've given up....see ya :P
Great to see Pickett take the game on, he will get caught at times and make mistakes, but creates opportunities like no other at times
Smedts... Graham...... Thanks..... Go clean out your lockers...
Fantastic mark v rampy, and goal from Pickett ;D
I like Army, and he's done some nice things over the journey, but tonight has been a game to forget IMO.
F**k I hate buddy.
Hate him
Who's watching the Lance Coleman show?
Yes think it's all over there for these two
It's amazing what happens when teams kick to advantage.
Yep. Their names not being mentioned much tonight (Smedts + Graham).
Maybe we should put 18 players on him, to make sure he doesn't kick any more goals.
After all, Bolts is from the Clarkson school. Must be like Nick Riviera's Club Med school.
Murphy!!!
Murphy had had a terrible quarter.
Such a bad look getting shrugged off so easy then.
Bit stiff on Daisy getting a bit ugly now .
So frustrating! We did so well before and it's all turned to crap just like that
Thoughts on whether boeky will get another contract? For his first half I thought yes but now not so sure...
Exactly why we need a more robust captain.
That just simply looks weak and pathetic.
Just gets beaten in physical contest too easily
Yes, hopefully Bolts can rally the troops at 3/4 time, because this has all the makings of a thumping.
I'm really not sure whether a small ground like this one makes it easier or harder to kick a large score, but 50 points up this point (and we've been accurate) is the story of our year.
We're missing Cripps and Ed big time tonight, getting smashed around the stoppages.
Daisy just needed to dial back on the power and he would've got away with it. Stiff though.
...and hobbles off. Hope its nothing serious.
Q3, like Q1. Top v bottom, with bottom having a crack :-[
Pickett the standout, he's building to unique skill set that will keep oppo guessing. Charlie and BB bobbing up at the right time.
Unfortunately Jonesy getting a lesson from Buddy. Good lesson bad for the score.
Been saying all year he should get another one.
Gets better every game he plays. Starting to hit the scoreboard too.
Sure, he still makes some bad decisions and craps himself sometimes, but that is getting less frequent.
Missing extra grunt inside. Get well soon Cripps and Ed.
Big blowout in the offing now. Let's hope not.
D under sooo much pressure :-[
He's still massively unaccountable when the opposition have the ball though, Swans using his direct opponent to counter-attack repeatedly.
Free count???
Up to now - 19-14 Swans favour.
Going to be Army's last game , I wonder how many others will join him from this team?
Geez Buddy's kicked nearly as much as our team :-[
Tippet done for the night.
Great mark Charlie
Both teams 3 on the interchange.
106-53. Tough night at the office
Is Smedts injured or invisible?
Worst deal ever, a genuine spud!
Even frees against our runner
He showed a bit earlier in the season, but faded to not much by the end.
We need to dig deep now to end the season
That deal got us Pickett+Marchbank.
He was some free steak knives.
Not sure why we persist in playing him in the backline/wing area. Let him play deep forward where he can use his uncanny goal kicking ability.
Boys are on the pi55 already after a long year, disappointing way to finish off, white flag well and truly up now :-\
OK, so letting buddy kick season high goals isn't going to help
Nobody listened when I warned against Smedts.... List clogger. Can't believe we coughed up Touhy and our second rounder for Marchbank and that spud. Cost us a second round pick.
Bad mistake SOS.
This bloke isn't a beginner, he's in his 7th season!
I know, but spent a lot of time out injured.
Where a re our mids, MK aside???
Yep, first identifiable mistake, paying overs for steak knives.
Buddy can't miss tonight.
Carl 8 goals Buddy 9 mmmm
Yep, stopped running, probably also stopped caring.
Get it right.
Tuohy + 2nd rounder -> Smedts, Pickett and Marchbank.
Still do that deal every day of the week, Smedts is a talented kid who MAY have turned out to be bargain of the century. Whether he does or not, still winners from the trade(s)
Sad but on the money I think
We love delivering Coleman medals to Franklin!
Norp will accuse Bolton of waxing for Franklin! ;)
Not when we got Marchbank and Pickett surely. You prefer Touhy to Marchbank and Pickett?
Rohan wins a free kick and goals after tackling Docherty. Casboult applies an identical tackle and is pinged for in the back.
Consistency! Is it so difficult?
This is just like the Pagan days. Really awful feeling ending the season like this.
Taking a positive out of todays game......at least Bruce McAvaney wasn't commentating.
He'd be on his 2nd box of tissues by now.
Can't remember the last time one player kicked more goals than our whole team? Maybe Plugger days V St Kilda?
Very disappointing the way we have just given up after such an encouraging 2nd qtr.
Nope.
Doc was rolled.
Casboult did no such thing.
No problem with the Tuohy, Marchbank, Pickett deal.
The Cats could have kept Smedts!
Gibbs trying?
Just embarrassing now
Only thing to look fwd to now is cheering Dennis
Can I just say it's been a great effort from the commentary team calling lance franklin tonight, they've even managed to fit in some observations about the rest of the game in.
No Kruddler. Smedts is not a kid. He's a fringe player at best, list clogging spud at worst.
crap way to end this. Am super disappointed in our senior players
Players
Wasn't last year pretty awful, oh and year before....
The guys on the radio (ABC grandstand) exactly the same. I'm struggling to remember the names of the other players.
Agreed, we are putting out the rubbish for Geelong!
Would have been better off settling for a couple of bags of Frank Costa's finest manure!
Smedts is a bit player, and not worth the energy required to type his name. Don't sweat it. Lots more important things to worry about.
Feck Buddy and on to 2018!
Oh but geez they are great leaders
People are still waiting for Casboult to improve to the required level, Smedts is at least 2 years younger, has missed a lot of games with injuries. Including a broken leg. Those things take time to recover from, years even.
As i said, if he doesn't turn out, so be it. He was a freebie who has oodles of talent. His body might not be up to AFL level, wouldn't be the first.
Buy low...
Was very anti smedts, but give him a go while he's wearing Navy. Now, goodbye Billie boy. Nowhere near enough.
They've been into Jones all night for no body work on franklin. He finally does some and they try saying it should have been free kick.
Absolutely no reason to give Daisy another year
His value is going backwards rapidly.
This game simply confirms what most of us know - we still have a mountain of work to do, and are minimum 2 seasons away from finals, and that's if everything goes right.
Our tactic v buddy is what ???
Flicked because of 1 bad game in R23?
We'd lose half our list with that logic. Got plenty of mates out there unfortunately.
And we need a serious midfield
3-4 new players
Hope he misses so we can get the ball back from the kick in.
Very poor way to finish the season , really looks like we gave up
Has Murphy ever laid a tackle?
Has Graham kicked it to anyone wearing Navy today?
Let me know the highlights that you would keep him for?
He will get a contract and retire mid year
The afl version of rope a dope - let him kick goals until he gets tired and then run off him some more.
Thank f*** that's over
We knew that before this game unfortunately.
Agree 100% JH. Even if Curnow and Cripps play tonight. We are wafer thin on both midfield and forward depth (and class).
The shanked kick to cas was inspiring. Leadership stamped all over it.
Pick 2???
Dodged the spoon.
They're the sprouts ::)
Could not have put it better myself.
Suns will have to be competitive to stay above us on percentage.
Agree LN. Glad we dodged the spoon. At least that's something.
Hilarious, but sadly true
If he doesn't get a contract, you'll never be able to do this, but if he does...
Go to a game, and just watch him for 5 minutes. Forget about the ball. Watch what he does.
He is either directing teammates, blocking for them, running to cover a player (defense), running to make space (offence).
Look at the way he mans the mark - Jumping up and down waving his arms usually verballing the kicker.
Most of what he does, never gets noticed.
Switch across to the post match thread an we'll lock this one up.....And then probably delete it so we can't revisit it :(
No, Docherty wasn't rolled. Rohan rode Docherty's back into the ground.
There's no difference between the tackles. If Rohan's tackle is a free kick, Casboult's should be too.
If I was umpiring, both tackles would result in a free for in the back.
That may be so, but if he was assessed on what he does with the ball he wouldn't be getting another contract.
