Jim Park Voting AFL Rd 3 2026 Carlton vs Melbourne

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh or Patrick Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

AFL Rd 3 2026   Carlton vs Melbourne

Rating:      D+
We kept them to 1 goal in the first half and led by 43 points.
Unfortunately, we were awful after half time.

Votes:
[2.5]   Jacob Weitering
[2.5]   Mitch McGovern
[2.5]   Elijah Hollands
[1.5]   Sam Walsh
[1]   Harry Dean
[1]   Patrick Cripps
[0.5]   Jagga Smith
[0.5]   Talor Byrne
[0.5]   Zac Williams
[0.5]   Marc Pittonet
[0.5]   Ollie Hollands
[0.5]   Lewis Young
[0.5]   Harry McKay
[0.5]   Matthew Carroll

Explanations:
[2.5]   Jacob Weitering:   Dominated in defence all game.
[2.5]   Mitch McGovern:   One of his very best games for us, he not only provided a great target forward, but he kicked it well (mostly).
[2.5]   Elijah Hollands:   Elijah get better as the game went on, which makes him quite unusual. His kicking was much better in the 2nd half. Still not looking as good as he could do, but he is better than he’s been for a while.
[1.5]   Sam Walsh:      Walshy got a lot of the ball, but really lost impact in the second half. His disposal got considerably worse.
[1]   Harry Dean:      Excellent, except for one poor kick.
[1]   Patrick Cripps:      Struggled to make his normal impact with Gawn’s dominance, but he did try hard: 21 possessions, 8 tackles and 9 (!!!!!) clearances!
[0.5]   Jagga Smith:      25 possessions, but lacked impact after half time.
[0.5]   Talor Byrne:      Byrne didn’t get a lot of ball, but everything he did was brilliant. His run-down tackles, his mark and goal, his spoils and smothers. Showed pace, poise and potential!
[0.5]   Zac Williams:      Really good early, but was less effective in the 2nd half.
[0.5]   Marc Pittonet:      Tried his guts out all day and was good early, but Gawn really lifted.
[0.5]   Ollie Hollands:      Lor of the ball: 23 possessions and 9 marks, but his kicking was ordinary.
[0.5]   Lewis Young:      One of Young’s better games, with good, strong marks, good spoils and better than usual disposal.
[0.5]   Harry McKay:      H wasn’t bad: he took some great marks, but his kicking hurt us.
[0.5]   Matthew Carroll:   Like most of our players, he was good early, but his kicking really dropped off.

Honourable Mentions:
Ben Ainsworth:   Not bad, but not enough.
George Hewett:   Tried hard, but struggled to make an impact.
Lachie Cowan:   Good early, but drifted out of the game.
