Couldnt agree more, we now have a lightening premiership series so we get the TV money....I'd see how it goes for a few games and if we look like getting nowhere and no hope for finals then just play our kids.

Will be interesting to see how the injury rate is at the end of the round after last weeks total of 14 injures in the German Bundesliga league, 12  and two in the Bundesliga 2. An increase of about 250% plus from the last round post coronavirus. Touch wood that our boys are well managed and that we can avoid these type of injuries.

I'd run with a rotation policy, so that almost all the list gets a day off every 2nd or 3rd week.

Plus, you might win a few games by surprise because the opposition are not familiar with your setup, and we get to see the kids tried in a scenario that is as close to AFL without being AFL.

I seem to be with quite a number on here, thinking that most, if not all, of the games to come are a preparation for 2021.

Nor am I overly worried about this: the injuries we got out of Round 1 and the ongoing lowlight of Charlie Curnow's injury have not left us in the shape we would like to be. As it is, a number of guys are getting close, but the ruck is a gaping wound in our side. The last time Kreuzer got injured in round one, we struggled when he came back and we were very ordinary for the season. I can hope that Pittonet and de Koning can show enough, but...

One of the downsides of this season, such as it is, is that it is going to be a real struggle for the recruiting people to make their choices. Not so good being near the bottom when you can't tell who the top selections should be.
However, it should mean that our potential F/S candidates come very cheap: they don't have the opportunity to shine either.

The fact that we have not been given games at Carlton when Geelong get games at their ordinary ground is a negative. Mind you, the Bulldogs wanted games at Ballarat and that hasn't happened either. It is not like the AFl is unaware of the status of our ground.

I do look at the Melbourne game as possible win: I am hard to dent. But it will be difficult. Particularly if Melbourne get first use of the ball constantly. Hopefully, we can show something, Hope springs eternal.

Initially, i agreed with you.

On reflection, going down to GMHBA when there is no crowd involved is a blessing in disguise.

It gives us a chance to get used to the ground, without having to deal with the ferals that usually come along with it.

FMD, De Koning has rolled his ankle.

 Kreuzer is aging, McKay is fragile, Casboult tries hard and Pittonet is at best aggressive but workman like.

Are people still thinking we've too many rucks, we'll be rucking blokes like Cripps, Jones, Weitering and McGovern before you know it!

FFS, let's use the top up rules already if it's allowed?

It is a sport isn't it?

I feel it's lost it's way, I suspect someone like McGuire or Gloch would answer that question very differently to someone who actually loves the sport.

Now, it's about theatrics, glitz and glamour, the sporting aspect is barely included in the considerations. The tell is in when they start playing laugh tracks over the spectacle!

Looks like the game will be going ahead on schedule. The potential of having a few fans attending has been raised. I can't see it happening before the Richmond vs Collingwood game on Thursday: too little time to select the fans, even if they are all corporates.

At the moment Melbourne appear to be playing Harley Bennell against us this Saturday.

I fear Melbourne's ruck combination. We need to beat Gawn to give our mids a reasonable chance.

At the moment it appears that Pittonet will play for us. Eddie Betts is highly likely to play. As for the rest, who knows?

There is a good chance of a 'scratch match' being played before the main game. That would give our kids a chance to play and most of them need it. There may well be more of these. The VFL is still a month from restarting, assuming we can organize a team for it. Apparently a number of former Northern Blues boys have been seen training. As to what will happen, nobody knows yet. many things will depend on whether Covid-19 has a second peak in the near future. Alas, that is a high probability event.  :-[

I don't expect much from this season, I haven't bought into it.

Yet, I just can't wait to watch Cripps do his thing, I hope he stays fit and well for the remained of 2020. If he gets that bit of luck, he can be anything!

I loved SOS, but we have know of this problem for years and have just gone through another draft...nothing has changed.

Yep SOS despite all the hype just couldn’t get the deal done to strengthen us in the middle.
Now we are again in the same position we have been in for too long already.
