His last two vfl games were very good too.  Particularly against Port Melbourne.  People say we threw him in the deep end but he stepped up to be a game winner against Port kicking 4.1 and having it 17 times.

Rewatched the tape, don't know why people are squealing about umpiring, Go Dees had a dream run until 3/4 time including two obvious stages. We got a few late but to say umpiring cost them the game... they only have themselves to blame.
Oh, and Oliver and Viney squeal like piglets whenever a decision doesn't go in their favour - not adverse to the odd sly knee or punch either those two.  Oliver should be cited for a punch on TdK with two minutes to go - if he's upset about the frees he's giving away he might want to check out his on field discipline. Spent the whole game scragging Cripps and was only called once for holding - when it really mattered.
DrE is no more... you ok with that harmonica man?

They are not a very good side Melbourne and they didn't have many young guys contributing much whereas a whole heap of our young guys did well. Cowan, Moir and Carroll were all very good and Evans was having his best game until he was knocked out by May. E.Hollands, Motlop, F.Young, White and Lord kept running all night and O'Farrell was pretty solid down back.
The two best things about the performance was the fact we didn't turn it up when Melbourne got in front in that third quarter and that we kept on going forward rather than retreat into our shells.
Young guys having a go and not giving up, who would have thought. Will Voss and the coaches learn from this or will they go back to using the safe option and continue to use the senior players who keep letting us down. That is the question.

I think that's fair. To my eye it didn't look like a severe, intentional, leave the ground, bump (6 weeks). It was two players going for the ball and one was a split second later than the other. If either pulls out they get labelled a squib. Cant have it both ways.
2021-Pi$$ or get off the pot
2022- Real Deal or more of the same? 0.6%
2023- "Raise the Standard" - M. Voss Another year wasted Bar Set
2024-Back to the drawing boardNo excuses, its time
2025-Carlton can win the 2025 AFL Premiership

He got off light.
Ran through the little bloke, what a hero.
No attempt to get the ball and no attempt to grab the bloke who did have the ball.
Let’s go BIG !

Agree! Don’t understand how he’s being defended.

Sure it’s not a dog act behind play or whatever but being twice the size of Frankie he also made zero attempt at trying to lessen the impact - he ran through him. You can see even his hands aren’t going for the ball or pushing off against Frankie just a run straight at the ball with him in my way and brace my shoulder for contact with his head!

I think I said earlier that 30yrs ago May would have coathangered him, he didn’t, so congrats May 🙄
I suspect that May had had enough of 2025 and saw the chance to wrap up his season

Glossed.over the most important stat.

We were 9.0 from set shots.
Good kicking (especially at goal) will apply the biggest kind of pressure there is - scoreboard pressure.

So watching that video, this is the perfect opponent.

Why?

Melbourne dont finish their work well (a litle like us).
Melbourne are also a side that arent going to go end to end, and punish you for every little mistake you make.

This allows you to roll the dice defensively with more confidence that you wont get burnt as badly due to a poor opposition forwardline (sans Kosi) as Fritsch was the only other dangerous forward, and is having one of his worst returns this season (he was efficient with his chances on the weekend).

Do this against Hawthorn, and every missed kicked going foward will rebound with interest, and any loose defending outnumber, will likely result in them getting into positions to score.

In the Geelong win we had Harry, Cottrell and Elijah playing which is our best half forward line which has hardly played. It's the area we break down the most.

We also had Walsh and SOS in the side.

Tend to agree, May is a loose cannon on and off the field and I think he tried to run through Evans legally but the size difference proved his undoing and he has to be held responsible.
The lack of response from our blokes was disappointing, if that was Jamie Elliott on the end of May's handywork he would have had half the Pies team all over him, our blokes just looked, saw it was May and figured its only Frankie lets move on...would you really want to play for us and rely on your teammates to back you up?
