He did lods.  I spotted him 4th quarter.  There wasn't much in it.

He vomited before he came off.
Then he left the field bent at around 45 degrees sideways holding his side.
Now we learn he had a lacerated kidney.

Now without being on the sidelines we're not really in a position to judge the medical assessment and the approval for him to return to the field.
But I suspect it's going to be portrayed as a second 'faliure' of the club in 24 hours to deal with a medical incident.

Looking at the replay, trying to get a better sense of what happened.
1st Quarter:
Carlton 1 - 6 - 12
Collingwood 0 - 4 - 4

Not an impressive quarter from either team. Lots of turnovers, lots of simple errors, lots of less than perfect decisions. Remind you of anything?
[1] Lucas C may not have had a great night, especially with how it turned out, but he does have a very nice pair of hands. He took a couple of nice marks. Still needs to work on his pace and his disposal.
[2] We should have got more goals. Our lack of key forwards and our inability to find forwards was still obvious. But we did seem to lead more than we do in the seniors.
[3] Harry Charleson had a great term: 10 disposals and 3 intercept marks. I still think he might make it, if he is given the chance.
[4] Jack Ison's disposal: it really stood out in a rather messy quarter. I want to see more.
[5] Duffy did a pretty good job in defence. Collingwood had a tall forward line, but we controlled their forwards quite well. Duffy was the most obvious tall defender, ad he only turned it over once.
[6] Monahan appears to be growing into the game. He had maybe 7 or 8 possessions and really ran hard to attack and defend. His disposal was ordinary early, which was disappointing. In the pre-season it was pretty good.
[7] Bryn Teakel was emergency for the VFL in the state game last week and Flynn Riley beat both him and Smit pretty well. Using his leap as well as his height, which impressed me.
[8] Ben C knows how to get it, but he needs to work on his pace and his kicking. He got run down again in the 1st quarter.

When I say there wasn't much in it, the contact where he came off the ground. I thought at the time he had landed funny and done an ankle but then he got up and was moving OK still doubled over expected a winded player.

Petracca all over again.

2nd Quarter:
We really got on top, getting the ball out of the middle and moving the ball with purpose and accuracy.
Carlton: 7 - 8 - 50
Collingwood: 0 - 6 - 6

[1] Billy Wilson impressed. His first half was really good.
[2] Our disposal is still a work in progress. But we did have some really nice patches this quarter. We also dominated the tackles.
[3] They really disrespected Acres, whose run was back. Honestly, this was the best he's looked in a long time. Confident, good in the air and all over the park.
[4] Cottrell was pretty quiet in the first half. But what he did was pretty good.
[5] Flynn Young must be in the team next week. His set shots are excellent.
[6] Lucas C was really brave in the incident where he was injured. I can understand why he may not have been picked up for his injury: the docs don't have a test for that and probably don't think of it. Kidney issues are often identified when there is blood in the urine. Hope he is better soon.
[7] Collingwood only had 3 inside-50's for the entire term!
[8] Logan didn't much time on ground, but he did stand out.

3rd Quarter:
Carlton: 10 - 13 - 73
Collingwood: 5 - 7 - 37

[1] Not a great quarter. Not only did Collingwood kick goals, we couldn't buy one.
[2] We really don't have any forward system. The way we bombed the ball in with a minimum of marking targets was terrible.
Last year we looked better because we had a key forward who leaded and offered a real target. We really lack that at the moment (and he can't get a game at Essendon, but that is another tale).
[3] Even in the VFL we allow teams to get a run-in against us.
[4] Fog played his best game for quite a while. He, at least, made some space and was a target. Pity he can barely kick 40 m!
[5] We really need to get Moir into the game, because he makes things happen. 2 goals from Moir.
[6] Ison's vision and disposal are a weapon.

Nice summaries Crash...On the second quarter post.
 ;)
1) Wilson has pace and is a penetrating kick. I'm a fan but I think he's played better than last night, and may still be a few weeks off. There were times when the ball lived in our half so our defenders weren't asked to do much at those times.
He and Boyd share the ball a bit coming out of defence and that tends to inflate their stats.

3) Acres running end to end was really impressive.

4) Cottrell wasn't a standout but there was a bit of class about him. Give him another week or two and he may be ready.

5) We have to give young FlynnYoung a shot...couple of lovely passes too. The question will be, can he do it at AFL level for an extended period.

6) Lucas may have convinced the medical folk he was right to go...there will be questions asked no doubt.

3rd Quarter....
3) Given the number of AFL listed players last night it was probably not unexpected those mental lapses happened down there too.

5) I wrote earlier that Moir doesn't do a lot, but what he does do he does brilliantly. It is pretty frustrating.

Last Quarter: What could have been:
Carlton: 11 - 19 - 85
Collingwood: 7 - 12 - 54

[1] Kicking 1 goal 6 was disappointing, but we still dominated play.
[2] As Lods noted, we have a couple of guys who stand out for what they do when they have the ball; Ashton Moir and Jack Ison. If only we could get them more involved!
[3] Apart from missing his last shot, Flynn Young again showed why I think he should be in the senior team. He had 21 disposals and was just so dangerous.
[4] On the other hand Flynn Riley disappointed somewhat in the last. He seemed to run out of a bit of juice, after his brilliant start. I would have liked to see O'Keefe ruck more, as that is his main function, but he is still a long way from the form I'd prefer to see from him.
[5] An unsung named did a good job: Jack Sammartino doesn't get heaps of the ball, but he does a job. Pity we don't have someone who can do that sort of job in the seniors.
For that matter, also some kudos to Dane Harvey who played well in defence. Collingwood had a lot of tall forwards, but we managed to minimize their effect on the game.
I can't claim to be as satisfied with Tucker, but he wasn't bad. And he provides leadership, a mature body in a team that lacks them severely.
[6] Jordan Boyd: he did some nice things, but he had 1 tackle in a team that had heaps of them. Ison had 3, Tucker had 5, Riley had 3, Chesser had 6, Lucas C had 6 as well, and we knw what happened to him.

Overall, I was really please that we won, as we hadn't won a game prior to this. I was disappointed we couldn't complete the rout, but it is a beginning. Hopefully, with a bit of continuity, we can improve our disposal and particularly, our goal kicking.

Exactly what I was thinking, Principal LODS. Sent back on with damaged kidney! Looks like our medical protocols/dept is in for a couple of please explains and scrutiny. Oh dear.
