Robert Heatley Stand / Re: The Season Over Thread
Watch the Sanderson press conference. He inferred that the game got opened up a bit too much and he wasn't happy about it.  Thats two opposition coaches now that have said that when being defeated by us.
We did have an extra man back, but that makes sense when you have the like of Jenkins , walker, and pods. But Sanderson said in the end it helped betts out.

Henderson and Ellard might not as well be playing..
Brocks brain fade running through the centre... Yazz missing that goal cost us a chance to really deflate them.. Instead they go down the other end and kick 1..
That 50m penalty was total BS...
WTF has happened to warnock in the 3rd... Jacobs slaughtering him.

AND FFS..IF DANGERFIELD COMES BACK ON, CRUNCH HIM AGAIN.

Time to send Hendo down back.....

Maybe try Everitt/Walker/Jamo/Watson as a roaming key forward (the first two at least).

Hendo is underperforming up front atm.

Hendo is underperforming because he doesn't have his mate, Waite, taking some heat off him.

Casboult doesn't demand the same attention Waite does, so Hendo is taking all the extra heat.

If we send Hendo down back, he will play better, but the team will suffer as we won't have anyone to kick goals.

The 4 players you mentioned will not do any better (long term) as a key forward. They might have a good game here and there, ala Duigan against the tiges last year, but you are not solving any problems there.

The backline is working, don't disrupt that to give Hendo an easy game. Find Hendo a legitimate partner in crime up forward to get him an easy game.

Rumour has it he recently has just broken up with his girlfriend that he's had since high school.
If true that definitely can affect players form. Just ask capper.

Sam Rowe's development as a defender has been impressive and he is fourth in the AFL in 2014 for one-percenters (64),

 :o  Who would have thought??

Definitely Watson we just signed him for two years so this will be what his fourth or fifth year sitting in the twos? Guy  played a decent game first up, got dropped and that's it again.

The thing I noticed with Watson is something I also noticed with Nick Stevens way back..   They both seemed to play very well in the pre season and very early on, then thats about it... For  Stevens it seemed he'd go well early because no one was at full fitness, but once everyone started to run into match fitness, then he got left for dead...
I watched Watson blitz in the intra club matches and some pre season games he played last year and this year..  But it doesn't really transfer over to home and away season for him which is a shame..

Maybe just maybe, mick wants him to develop properly in the reserves so he doesn't lose confidence, whilst in the mean time he plays White and Rowe and the like.  From all reports though, he isn't actually doing much in the reserves to earn his spot back..  He aint quick, he aint overly tall, he aint overly big (head excluded) and he's not the smartest footballer.. All these things make him in between everything when it comes to playing down back.. His best asset is his big roost. But at the moment it doesn't outweigh his deficiencies..

How good is it to have a guy that you can park on an opposition forward knowing that tthey are an even money bet to keep him quiet?

Just so I can get my head around this, exactly who has Rowe beaten this year? I know he played on Reiwoldt once he was semi-conscious but other than that? Keep in mind I missed the Eagles game.

Objection your honour.... He passed the concussion test..  ;)

Hardly touched it?? He took 7 marks and I'd suggest at a guess all were contested... He worked his @ss off around the ground and crashed packs repeatedly...  Im going to take a guess here and predict that most of you who have him in the worst, maybe watched it on TV and were't at the game.. I could be wrong, but gee, there's no way I could even dream about putting him in the worst players.. At the game, he busted his guts the whole game and took some fantastic marks..

7 marks, correct. Only one contested.

Hardly touched it? He had 10 touches, only Garlett (sub), Daisy and White had less touches. 40% of them were deemed effective.

Its not easy to find 3 players clearly worse than him, but to say there was only 3 better is a big stretch.

What the hell is considered a contested mark?  He had an opponent on him or on his tail in every mark I can think of..   His work rate and willingness to present time after time is something that can only be seen at the ground... He was great last night.. I dont withdraw those comments.. Maybe top 4 was me being over the top, but I have him in my top 5 to 8 for sure...  Put it this way, I walked out of the ground very very happy with him..
You even admitted you gave him worst on ground because he kicked 3 points instead of 3 goals..

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: R8 - Blues vs Saints (Back on the winners list!)
We had an ordinary win against a very ordinary side last night, it tells us nothing new!

But ts better than an ordinary loss...   ;)

It also told us we have some very good young ones coming through...

Possibly, but the only real experience in the Aints midfield was Hayes and that Grandpas tore us a new one! The Aints played all three of this years draft picks so we should have won by some significant margin more in my opinion!

We slaughtered them in most areas.. The thing we had trouble with was consolidating on the hard work and kicking goals..
We still do have signifiacnt brain lapses.. We were 46 points up with 4 minutes to go..
This is what I keep saying its between the ears also. We lack the ability to concentrate for the whole game, or good parts of it..
Hendo had a bad night all round..  We need another key forward..  Hendo Casboult and (insert reliable key forward here) and will be much better for it.
