Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Frustrations: AFL 2021 Rd 14: Carlton vs GWS
I was amazed at how little intensity we had in our game last night. After 2 weeks of scrutiny I (stupidly) thought they would have some sort of reaction and finally play with an AFL level intent.

Instead we got well beaten for disposals and tackles. With GWS players frequently able to stroll out of the middle.

I would drop Newnes, Docherty and Jack Martin ( and 3 or 4 others).

Dropping the captain would send a signal..... finally. And his form is woeful.

Play Honey and Carroll at a minimum.

The team needs an electric shock.

I hope Honey and Carroll get a game before Murphy and Cotterel.

Jack Martin doesn't look fit, Newnes is not good enough and Parks is injured. There are spots available. Fisher needs to play midfield.

Teague is not good at picking the team... I've been saying it for a while.

I thought LOB was ok. Use of the ball is a clear level above others. If I had to promote either him or Cotterel out of today's match I would go with LOB.

Maybe his future is a Daniel Rich type. Being fed by his teammates coming off half back with his good ball use.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Review
This bit is interesting:
"This panel will be led by incoming President Luke Sayers with the support of CEO Cain Liddle, and the final report with its recommendations will be delivered to the Carlton Football Club Board."

I'd keep Liddle well away from any influence on the review/report. He's clearly a politician - and I have no doubt he will attempt to influence this to his own ends. I have no faith in that guy.

I reckon he'd literally give away memberships to inflate our numbers to make himself look good... oh wait... that's exactly what he did. Fooking flog.

Point being - we've struggled to get even B grade mids.

Newnes the closest I guess.

That is not even B grade.

Sack as many people as you can out of the soft cap - and pump all of that money into recruitment to make sure we don't keep missing the boat.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Review
Our biggest problem has been our inability to recruit even a single midfielder of note - basically since Judd.

Williams was supposed to be it. But his body clearly isn't up to it.

We passed on numerous guys like Treloar, Jarrod Lyons and Brad Crouch. Missed the boat on guys like Lachie Neale, Rockliff, Tom Mitchell, Zac Jones, Shiel and numerous others.

And then we've missed bona fide mids in the draft - Oliver, Butters, Cerra, Tim Kelly, Perryman, Bolton, Parish, Hopper, Dunkley, etc.

And all the mids (apart from Walsh) have been busts so far.

I don't need a "Review" to tell me that.

Depressing. Couldn’t stick a tackle, hit a target or spread with the intensity that’s needed.

No depth, no competition for spots despite Teague’s comments to the contrary.

Parks is more clueless than Plowman and that’s saying something. How can we recruit three players with as poor decision making as Plowman, Jones and Parks? Mind boggles.

Ouch!

A tad harsh on Parks? Only 19 so he at least has time to improve. Williamson started off very cool under pressure but learned how to truly panic playing alongside Plow and Jones. Hope it doesn't infect Parks also.

Hawks are good and our VFL have been a bit injury hit - especially in the big men department.

A spanking not a huge surprise. Kemp getting through without injury was the big positive.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Parks and Fog's, is Curly's boy the Real Gem?
Parks has to learn how to position himself to keep his opponent out of the contest. He's a run and jump at the ball man which is great when it works but Harrison Jones got the better of him quite a bit last weekend. He's only young so plenty of time to improve on that but loved that tackle on Tippa.

Fogarty still impressive. Does go quite in some games but his tackling is outstanding and a very smart user.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Post Game Prognostications!: AFL 2021 Rd 7: Carlton vs Drug Cheat
So the CheatsFC penalty was drafting three of the list that Ling now says are better than ours! ;)

Everything at CheatsFC going back to the start of the Sheedy era is smoke and mirrors, fans should realise that, because I'd assert in that history is the ultimate source of the crook CheatsFC culture, and guess who's back! :o

Ling... please. About as much credibility as Kane Cornes.

Essendon could have had a better list had they doubled down on the draft instead of chasing the shortcut with Stringer, Smith, Saad and Shiel. Instead they've got a lop-sided list with a few decent mids and a few young key position players who will take another 3 or 4 years to hit their straps by which time most of their mids will be gone / too old.

All of those players wanting out last year forced them into the draft. There is no grand strategy behind it. Which sums them up under Dodo. He doesn't appear to be capable of thinking more than 6 months ahead. Premiership lists are built over 6+ year periods.

I see Kane Cornes has taken back his words on Walshy on FC:

"I think I was particularly hard on Sam Walsh. I said he is not a match winner, In hindsight I would use my words differently. He has been so impressive this year and I've got a lot of respect for him. I regret how hard I went on a young kid, and I would take that one back."

The thing is Kane you can't "take it back". You are a d1ck head and always will be.
