Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Ziebell, Martin and Gibbs
In hindsight emtwenty, would you now take Martin over Daisy?
It wasn't a choice. One was a free agent. The other was a trade. It was never a case of one of the other.

I think Gibbs is fairly weak overhead personally.
Just on Martin, to think we could have picked him up for 600k instead of Daisy, still young with his career ahead of him.
What would you have been willing to trade for him? Given Daisy didn't require a trade.
The first rounder we got for Betts? That we gave up for Daisy? If not enough then throw in Hampson. So no Docherty I guess.
We were never getting a first rounder for Betts. We would've got what St Kilda got for Dal Santo. And that would never have got Richmond to give us Martin. If you were Richmond would you have traded Martin for a pick in the 20s? I doubt it.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: RD 21 Carlton vs Geelong (aftermatch aftermath)
Gibbs twinged his back in the warm up. I saw him run off half way through.
Jamo did too. That's when he hurt his calf.
Brock obviously injured himself in the warm up too.
Absolute carnage.
Waite survived the warm up. That's one plus.
Apparently he played with illness too.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: RD 21: Carlton vs Geelong: Pre match Predictions
The possibility of no Stevie J means that we can cover Selwood and one more with Curnow and Carrazzo.
Gibbs played his (nearly) best ever game on Selwood last time and kept Selwood pretty quiet. Wouldn't be against sending Gibbs to him again.
Maybe Carrots to Kelly or Duncan?
If Yazz is fit to play, he would be a good match up for Motlop. He can keep up with him defensively but at the same time work off him to keep Motlop accountable.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Our Inability to Win Close Games
So what would you propose as a remedy then ??
1. New Recruitment Team - including dedicated list manager, national development network and head recruiter - goodbye to current recruiter
2. More money from the Board/Sponsors into the Development league and Reserves. Full Carlton reserves
3. More Coaches at Development and Reserves
4. Clear the list methodically with the hard calls
The rest will look after itself...
x2.... been saying similar for years but the club refuses to admit the recruiting and development are an issue.....
Are you sure? That's all I've heard Loguidice say since he was appointed.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Murphy Growing Into Leadership Role - AGE
Firstly, lets say he is the rightful captain for this side and is really a captain now.
This isn't about Murphy in particular but I was watching Goddard collect his players on the ground after the final siren and give them an absolute bake on the ground. I've seen Pav do this, Hodge, some others. I don't seem to ever recall a Carlton player ever doing that - maybe I'm wrong. We laughed at the idea of Goddard, Collingwood dropped Thomas from their leadership group and I cannot see him ever doing it.
Are there any of our players you could see take this sort of action? Gibbs maybe?
Murph did this after we lost to Melbourne and a number of other times.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 19: Carlton vs Freo: Pre Game Panic
Jeffy isn't playing for off field reasons. If we took him to Perth we might as well leave him there.

This will be a good test for is. They made us look beyond impotent the last time, we just couldn't do anything. If we can avoid looking lost, then that will be a step forward, not sure about coming away with the points...
Didn't we lead at 3 qtr time last year?

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Blues vs. Sydney in Sydney: Pre Match Prognostications
Jeffy is emergency. I'd play him. The team is pretty slow.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: RD 16 : Blues Slaughter Saints (Rejoicing & Backslapping)
There was a little feature on Menz on Fox Footy last night and he said he wanted to be picked up by the Cats to be with his brother but was rapt when picked up by Carlton as he would be close to him in Victoria.
Maybe I saw a different feature, but I'm pretty sure it was Daniel saying he wanted Troy drafted to Geelong, not Troy saying he wanted to go to Geelong.
