The Sports Desk / Re: God help me - the Test Cricket thread
Kohli has to be in trouble for intentionally making contact with Konstas.

Surely Kohli knows that the cameras pick up everything … or does he expect the IPL/BCCI to exert enough pressure to get him off with a slap on the wrist with a wet tram ticket?

I think Moir and Jagga will be our biggest injection into the team. All the others in the lower tier (Motlop etc) will improve, but it's those two aforementioned that will really help the team. We also have the added return of serious long term injured to the team, so added stability and pressure for spots.

The Aus assistant coach Daniel Vettori didnt care though and decided the IPL auction was more important to his wallet than staying around for the finale of the test and even the commentary box has been short staffed with ex captain and coach Ponting and Langar departing for the land of the great Rupee and to hangout with their Indian Masters and miss calling the ending of the game.

Sign of the times. And also, one of the reasons why viewers are dropping off. It may entertain (briefly) the younger generation, but T20 has no real substance. Essentially our cricketers are now entertainers being paid to perform for Indian audiences. I get in era of professional cricket that you need to earn a living, but you cannot buy a legacy.

I suspect they will give them another go, but after that, Harris may come in, move McSweeney down, Marnus needs to find some form in the shield. Smith needs a big rest of the series. Sydney may be it for him.

Just on Ollie Hollands (and how a players worth is so subjective); what would opposition clubs pay to get him on their lists? If hypothetically we had said he was available this trade period - what interest would there have been? Of all the clubs in the AFL, how many would have been inquiring about his services?

I think quite a few. That probably tells you his real value (i.e. our club would rather he was playing for us than you).

Great Cup race today, but in bigger news in Race 8, the Amanda Elliott Stakes.....

First         14 CATOGGIO   ($38.70, $9.00)

Second     1 BOSUSTOW  ($4.60)

Third         4 SUPERCILIOUS ($4.80)

Quinella paid $185
Trifecta (if you'd backed Catoggio, Bosustow and #4) paid $4718

Surely an omen Blue better somewhere backed this.....?

So, did you?

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 24 2024 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs St, Kilda
I watched Moir closely in the pre-game warm up - he uses whichever foot suits where he is on the ground.  In his practice shots at goal, when he was left of centre, he kicked with his right foot, when he was right of centre (like his shot in the last quarter), he kicked with his left foot.    Seriously could not tell which was his preferred foot.

This guy is a real smokey, can't wait to see him after he has another pre-season under his belt.

Yep, remember that video around the time of his drafting? Seriously talented. I have not seen a kick like him at Carlton.

I'd have Moir in the starting team. The kid has X factor and everything he has done has been  class. He is pacy and hard running.  He is the future.

I would get him training with Adam Saad over summer, we will lose players again next year to injury, and having another running back with precision kicking skills would be invaluable. Obviously, he can play forward as well so from a team balance perspective this give him the greatest possibility of playing regular football in the seniors.

Just too good to leave out. Imagine this bloke with 50 games into him.
