Same for me, replay only and I agree what you say. If Haywood is fit and ready, then I think Byrne or Cottrell makes way.; but I think Byrne because he looked lost and out of his depth and had zero impact. Byrne wasn't alone tbh, but we don't want to start making too many changes to a winning combo.
I thought Byrne did OK at becoming a target as the Dees sat on Evans, Byrne attracting the footy a couple of times on the wing helped diffuse the Evans tag, even if not much come out of it. Of course I concede Hayward will cover this easily, but I don't think that Byrne wasn't contributing.
Given the Cats ruck situation, Edwards then Blicsav, I wouldn't be surprised if Young goes out for Hayward, it may depend on Pitto's freshness.
I could see Cottrell or Lord in a negative role on Bailey Smith, so the MC might want to preserve those options, last time we played Smith was let off the hook.
If Haynes is an out it may be unlucky for Derksen, if Hayward gets up Hayward / Haynes might well be the only change, or we could also see Derksen / Young if Haynes is an out. I thought last time we played the Handbaggers our problem was stopping them scoring, despite Weiters having one of his better games before he went out, our F50 functioned pretty well.
Byrne did get involved a bit, but dropped 2-3 easy marks (he wasn't alone in that) and also appeared quite fumbly and nervous with ball in hand - finals nerves but he wasn't alone. Haywood for Young makes good sense too, as you say it just depends which way they want to go, and if haynes gets up or not.
Well I watched the video after being in transit and I wasn't overtly impressed. Hard game to assess. A few, particularly those in the front half looked overawed. Byrne spilt marks and missed tackles, Cottrell burned how many chances, McG was unsighted and Cerra's first half stank. Wilson was very quiet. Both sides missed a lot of goals that really should have been kicked. If Hayward came in I suspect it may be for Young, although his flexibility is handy. Have to find match ups for Dangerflog, Smith and Dempsey, can't see the Cats shelling chances and bringing the ball into F50 with as little system as the dees.

I have just one question ............... where the hell did that come from ??
Nobody saw that coming, but I think it's something that's been building into this team transformation over the last 10 - 11 weeks. The team has been doing things and playing in a way the Voss was unable to generate. Fraser brings a 'softer' manner, style, approach and flexibility, the players begin to start enjoying their football again, start to regain confidence, play with more freedom through rejigged game plans / ball movement / move a few magnets around / blood some more youth , and suddenly we are seeing a group that is playing with far more confidence, skill levels and overall team spirit. If Fraser can get the team to repeat this in at least 2 of the next 3 weeks then CFC will get him to sign on the dotted line.
If Frazer does not want the job he has rocks in his head. And if Carlton don't give it to him then they should be shot, hung, drawn and quartered.
If the coach selection panel weren't fully convinced before tonight, then they should be now. It's his for the taking after that result that even the biggest fans could not have seen coming!
There is a fair bit of wailing and gnashing of teeth over the "goal that wasn't" amongst Geelong folk and some media commentators. "Cost them the game" There was deflection, on the part of Scott, who "didn't want to dwell on it" all through the parts of his press conference that I saw.
If that had occurred in the last minute of the game that might have had some validity, even then Cripps probably would have bobbed up and kicked two instead of one
But occurring when it did, it opened up "multiple universes" where a whole range of results became possible.
If Geelong couldn't beat a bottom 4 side without relying on a 'missed' goal then they didn't deserve the win - but it was a handball so doesn;t count anyway, but nobody mentions that.
Great Win. I think this just reinforces though what I, and some others, have been saying for a few months now. 1. Voss can't coach 2. Voss had lost a large portion of the playing group - they didn't want to play for him, the effort just wasn't there.
3/3 since his departure says a lot about that, GW and co are probably now regretting the decision to let him continue into this year.
This win over one of the flag fancies just shows what our group is capable of once their heart is back in it.
Really mate?
Yes really... Apparently Adam Simpson is going to Josh Fraser's house tomorrow for a barbeque. Coincidence?....

To give but one example : pushing a guy into the fence, then apologizing, then as result giving away a free kick from the goal square, so effectively two goals within seconds to the opposition - this is your idea of showing "passion and pride in playing for the CFC jumper'?
To say nothing of the fact that he is likely to be rubbed out for a time.
He is young and was probably incredibly frustrated being put under immense pressure again - IIRC that was the 5th incoming goal in a 5 minute period.
Not good enough by our snr players and our coach and coaching staff - not even close!
Interesting summary, and i agree with most of the points he raises... But many here probably won't,, all the deniers here who think we're travelling ok and just need some minor tweaks and give MV another 3-4 years...
Of course it doesn't, and physically and mentally not every player is going to be like that... I was trying in a round about way to say we need more in the team to show that kind of passion and pride in playing for the CFC jumper - which seems to be lacking with some of the more senior players, at least for a full four quarters......... and when that happens it becomes a team pandemic unfortunately; as we see on a weekly basis. Don't worry, Dean will have the Carlton Way hammered into him in the next few months..

1. I'm pretty sure he got a fine 2. I'm referring to his fire and passion in general, not that particular incident. He's a young kid still learning the ropes, his passion is a great attribute imo, but his senior teammates will soon show him the error of his ways.
I'd say promote him to captain, he's one of just a handful in this spineless team who show any fight or mongrel... And our idiot recruiting manger just continually brings in these same soft, nice guy types year after year. Haynes, Florent, Haywood etc etc... We have a team full of Mr. nice guys who would rather shake hands and hug with mates in the opposition than show a bit of fight and spirit. MV has tried his heart out for 5 years, but unfortunately you can't expect corgis to win races against greyhounds.. Time to move on - watch this space
Fight and spirit has little to do push and shove.

Will Dean get rubbed out for that push? Hes young he should t have done it, but gee he plays with some vigour 💪🏼
I'd say he will do time. Vossy talked him up in the press conference. Not that incident specifically, but the way Dean goes about it.

In the third qtr, 6 players laid 1 tackle each. 17 players didnt lay a tackle. EOS.
Begs the question... Why?
Because someone just mentioned the reason earlier in this thread......... the players don't want the coach there...... I bought this up in a post about a year ago, and so far this year it just reinforces what I said then - there is a definite disconnect between MV and the playing group. Also, I don't know if the entire playing group are connected too, that may be a separate issue. We have some talent in the developing list, we've seen them competitive almost weekly, but they too easily become dispirited, disinterested and destabilised. They are not playing for this coach, it's pretty obvious. MV should not take all the blame, there seems to be things going on behind the scenes we don't know about - is my guess. The silence from GW and CFC is deafening - MV will fall first, rightly or wrongly - I'm certain they are working on this currently and will move when the time is right - if there is such a thing.... IF some senior players are rocking the boat, then GW hopefully sorts that out also... CHANGE is needed.
