Said it time and time again but this group of footballers will never get close to the ultimate prize as ability wise they are mid table and mentally are as weak as any team.
issue is I have no idea what needs to be done to give this list a shot at snaring a flag and based on my faith of our list management neither do they.
Dudded bigtime, and I could see the writing on the wall in the second half of '24, then the loss to the Tigers R1 this year just confirmed what many of us suspected.... this team is a huge letdown and just incapable of getting it done... and most of the blame doesn't fall on the players to be fair. It's our completely inept recruiting department who have really screwed up our list management and team balance etc. This team won't go anywhere unfortunately (except backwards), and things won't change until we get someone new in that department who knows what they're doing and won't continue to recruit useless spuds. Too much each week is left to so few, and our good players just aren't getting the support they need and are getting frustrated. We need another 2-3 year mini rebuild.
So I guess then if we can beat Weagles this week by a goal or two then all the naysayers will be right, and those who think we need a few tweaks will be not so right. This week should tell us a lot about what expect for the rest of the season.
That's fine, but obviously so far this season allowing the coaches to rectify things hasn't been working, I didn't take everything they said literally, I read it as just trying something different, which so far in 25 they really haven't tried to think outside the square, as they believed rightly or wrongly that based on recent history our existing available squad has the skills, gameplan and experience to get it done. But we all know how that's working out so far. I'm just not sure that current coaches mc or whoever have enough lateral thinking to make something work. It's quickly approaching the point where there's nothing to lose and everything to gain from trying something different - whatever that is.
The only principle the MC should be following is to pick the best 22 to win a game of footy. If your starting point is something else (we need to change things up, we need to think laterally etc) you have already committed yourself to a dogma, which then becomes self realizing.
That's a bit simplistic imo. Things aren't working atm. Agreed? Do we really know what are the issues? No we don't. We can only guess based on what we can actually see, mostly on game day. For whatever reasons right now, there seem to be some problems - either it's game plan, player cohesion, coach disconnect, lack of confidence, or a combination, and it's frustrating the supporter base, and all they care about is results. Supporters pay the bills and they want to see success and at the very least things starting to turn for the better. We've been teased, given undelivered 'promises' and starved of success for decades. And we are all experts at what the team should be doing better, so why aren't they doing it? Cmon Blues, Lift!
So you're in favour of keeping things as they are, not changing anything around? Interesting...
I'm in favour of the right thought process leading to the right action. If changes will make things worse, then why bother ? I'm not saying they will, but I cannot see how an approach of "hey what does this button do?" is going to help us. The right action may simply be allowing the players and coaches to rectify the issues.
John Kennedy Sr has, through no fault of his own, ushered in a very questionable policy that doing something is better than doing nothing. Except if you have no clue, then the action can make things worse.

I think it has become a vicious cycle. Instability causes on field inconsistency, the supporters demand success and when it doesn't come, the club reacts, causing more instability, which leads to the cycle staring again. It's no surprise that clubs who struggle to be successful are also the most unstable. Saints, North, Essendon, Carlton.
Can't disagree with that. But also, there will continue to be instability within the club if it isn't being led by the right people, or, if there are still too many nameless faces calling the shots behind the scenes. Most of the time we, the supporters, only hear stories and rumors, but don't really know who is calling the shots. There is seemingly something or things not quite right atm. Hopefully Wright can make it right.
MV presser - he looks to have aged greatly these last few months, looks very tired/listless (understandable). He seems bereft of any answers, and other than him saying he will be having some strong conversations this week with players about roles and contests he appears a bit lost. I think he is lost for new ideas/game plans, but all he said is he wants to continue with the existing systems 'because that's what works;' Sorry MV, it actually isn't working, and it also looks like many of the players are also not fully on board here, and those that are just continue run their guts out each week with little result for effort.
Some things need to change before the year is a total washout.
Need someone else with logic on this site. Too many emotional posters.
Pretty sure there's a very good reason for that. This rabble team is enough to turn the calmest monk into an emotional wreck. It's really not our fault - decades of mediocrity is turning us all into emotional CFC trainwrecks. Sorry if that doesn't always equate to your logic requirements
After another bad loss, maybe we can start to think differently at MC level and stop selecting the same hacks... Why are some of these crap trucks automatic selections? Four games of rubbish form is enough to show that somebody else needs a run. Why is Voss et al rusted on to these blokes? They just give F all week after week.
Cos he is the most under pressure coach in AFL right now, so he (and MC) thinks they are trying to choose our best squad to have the best chance of success - but based on this crap that doesn't even look like getting close. As I said after R1 disaster, there is every likelihood we go to 0-7 or at best 1-7, and MV is starting to walk on thin ice. There is definitely serious issues in Blues camp, and no easy fix in sight, another long slow cleanout is in order.
Will come out fired up for this one, but maintaining for 4 qtrs is the real problem they have. Never say never, but not overly optimistic that we can avoid 0-4.
Wow! why so angry?? If you can't understand my post then please don't quote and reply like a numpty.! Green shoots was clearly a reference to Bolton here, which if you had read and understood what I typed then you would see that! I won't bother commenting on the rest of a response by you when clearly you don't fully understand the points I was raising. Better to say nothing, than to type words in anger imo. Chill out big guy.!
I'm chill as they come my friend, don't want to get into a slanging match but you might want to re-read what you wrote.
You definitely didn't seem chill by the way you worded your response, anything but. It seemed like you took what I wrote personally and typed an angry response, which is uncalled for because this is a public forum 'my friend'. And possibly unlike you I always read, reread, and then recheck all of my posts here. But unlike you, I never get personal because everyone here is entitled to their opinions and often I won't agree with others and I'm damn sure others will not agree with me too. But that's fine, I just move on. I wasn't saying MV was lying btw, but you're just taking everything way too literally.
If you're just having a bad day then I'm sorry for that. Let's not take things too personally please and move on....
How about say something truthful and meaningful for a start? Stop spruiking the nonsensical 'little green shoots' BS like that other unmentionable waste of time we had. Show us a bit of the old MV player mongrel and fight, and not the current 'MV I've got no real answers and I'm fearful of losing my job' Coach. The fans don't want that. Show some anger, show some grit and determination that can transfer to the team.!
Ive never heard Voss mention "green shoots". Him not being truthful is your opinion, you dont know crap about what is his truth or lies. How do you know he doesnt show the MV mongrel when he needs to behind closed doors with the players? Do you want him to walk into the presser and knock out a journo or something? So Ill ask again what do you think he should do in a football sense? Don't gimme BS made up theories that that will achieve zero on a group of 45 young men in 2025.
