Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 20 2025 In Game Angst Carlton vs Hawthorn
ok so just keep doing the same thing and anchor your self to the bottom of the ladder for the next decade.
this list produced one good half of a season thats it. and even those wins were very lucky and ciuld have gone either way.
we did nothing to improve and went backwards all while out oppostion continued to add pieces and got better.
we need to stop looking at that one season as a reason why the list and coach are still capable
they clearly are not.
We have turned over more executives, more Presidents, more players, more coaches, more football department staff than any other club in the last 25 years. Because every time we hit some turbulence, the angry irrational hordes demand that "We have to do something. We can't just do nothing." And so here we are.
There has to be a middle ground imo, the ostrich approach is not going to improve or achieve anything. Nor will complete cleanouts. I dont know what is the answer to fixing this disaster club/team, but I know if some things don't change then we will end up down with WCE in 2-4 years at the current trajectory.

Alas, there is the problem in a nutshell. You look at the 2's and you see glimpses of system, good chains of run and carry, the sort of thing you look for in the 1's.
Players don't trust the system and its obvious
[5] Tom de Koning was awful tonight. He barely touched the ball in the forward line or in the ruck. Just 11 possessions, and most of them were junk. I would almost drop him, he is playing so badly. He has never had much defence to his game, but his play at the moment is deplorable.
This is what i'm hearing/reading about tdk tonight, however on afl.com.au match report they listed him as best player. Either the writer was drunk or tdk was indeed bad but the rest of the team was far worse than bad... While the result wasn't unexpected, the resolve shown by the team apparently left a lot to be desired. It's going to be a long 7 weeks.

Voss has lost the group - if 2-3 not playing to coaches instructions okay but the whole team?
No one cares if he stays or goes.

They should bring out a commemerative photo frame of tonights team to celebrate the 23 frauds that ran out tonight.
They will go down in the Carlton Teams That Got Their Coach Sacked Hall of Fame.
And please please please Crippa, no more bs press conferences stating that MV is a great coach, friend, mentor, and we are all behind him 100%..... it somehow rings very hollow now after dishing up that cr@p.

Every season when the season is on the line we go to water.
And when games are on the line... Injury/illness aside, this is far more embarrassing than last week. These woeful repeat performances suggest to me from the last year or so that a. The coach has lost the playing group b. The playing group themselves are fractured. or c. both a and b.
Get used to these results... we are playing mostly the really good teams from here until the end of the year. Not sure whether MV will fall on his sword or he will get shoved, either way, results like these won't see him here next year.

Quite a good analysis in this article imo.
GW has a lot of work in front of him, whether that plan will include MV or not, we have to wait and see but I'm sure we will see big changes in the next few months. I think the next 6 weeks will mostly determine whether he stays or goes.

Yep, we are all shattered at how the Blues are performing this year, but no point in mass depression or hysteria!
Hopefully Voss & Co will use the rest of season 2025 to get games into the young talent waiting for their chance, incl. Ben Campo., O'Farrell, Moir, Flynn Young etc
Ab
No chance, Voss is coaching for his career.
Correct, I said exactly that about 8-9 weeks ago. Voss won't get too creative now, there's far too much pressure on him.

Its funny right.
We've been here before. https://afltables.com/afl/stats/coaches/carlton.html
If we sack vossy, he'll be the best coach weve sacked since David parkin. His current record is better than Rattens in terms of win percentage.
Are we sure this is the right reign to be pulling?
On the what we have done lately measure maybe, but im not convinced.
It won't matter to the anti Voss brigade. They just keep moving the goalposts, and looking sideways to justify their dogmas : in his 4th year we should be better, the list is better than the results indicate, no plan B, no match day tactical nous, was never a fan from day 1 etc.
Just like it won't matter if you, me or anybody else here is pro or anti-voss, or somewhere in the middle. Our opinions are just that, opinions, and they are like sphincters, everyone has one. But something is certain we can all agree on.... there are issues/problem/s at the cfc, and hopefully they get identified and actioned by mr.wright in the very near future.

The critical questions...
Do we persist with Voss or not? Do we blow it up and start again?
IMO, those questions were being asked too often during the second half of last season; after R1 of this year the answers became very obvious.. Yes he has to go, so do large parts of our list and our totally inept recruiting dept. Despite the excuses some of the die hard fans here like to whip out week after week, huge changes have to be made or we will be wallowing with the Weagles for the next 2-4 yrs. Wrighty has a huge task ahead of him. Mediocrity has become the standard at this club unfortunately.

Imagine Wright would be making copious notes this afternoon.Be sharpening the blade and ordering the timber for the gallows, going to be a messy off season clearing out the deadwood.
Definitely needed (again), but there's so much of it that it can't be accomplished in 1 year, it's another 2-4 year rebuild. And to go with this we need draft capital, which we currently have zero.... so let TDK go, put others up for trade such as McKay, Walsh, or whoever can best get us decent picks. It has to be done unfortunately, because this list just won't cut it - that' been proven not just this year but over many months (bad injury luck aside), big changes need to be made and starting with those useless recruitment morons who need to get removed asap, theyve wrecked totally what could've been a decent rebuild list.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 10 2025 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Sydney
How many years have we been rebuilding for ?
And this is the group we waited patiently for.
We were dudded.
Said it time and time again but this group of footballers will never get close to the ultimate prize as ability wise they are mid table and mentally are as weak as any team.
issue is I have no idea what needs to be done to give this list a shot at snaring a flag and based on my faith of our list management neither do they.
Dudded bigtime, and I could see the writing on the wall in the second half of '24, then the loss to the Tigers R1 this year just confirmed what many of us suspected.... this team is a huge letdown and just incapable of getting it done... and most of the blame doesn't fall on the players to be fair. It's our completely inept recruiting department who have really screwed up our list management and team balance etc. This team won't go anywhere unfortunately (except backwards), and things won't change until we get someone new in that department who knows what they're doing and won't continue to recruit useless spuds. Too much each week is left to so few, and our good players just aren't getting the support they need and are getting frustrated. We need another 2-3 year mini rebuild.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Well said
That's fine, but obviously so far this season allowing the coaches to rectify things hasn't been working, I didn't take everything they said literally, I read it as just trying something different, which so far in 25 they really haven't tried to think outside the square, as they believed rightly or wrongly that based on recent history our existing available squad has the skills, gameplan and experience to get it done. But we all know how that's working out so far. I'm just not sure that current coaches mc or whoever have enough lateral thinking to make something work. It's quickly approaching the point where there's nothing to lose and everything to gain from trying something different - whatever that is.
The only principle the MC should be following is to pick the best 22 to win a game of footy. If your starting point is something else (we need to change things up, we need to think laterally etc) you have already committed yourself to a dogma, which then becomes self realizing.
That's a bit simplistic imo. Things aren't working atm. Agreed? Do we really know what are the issues? No we don't. We can only guess based on what we can actually see, mostly on game day. For whatever reasons right now, there seem to be some problems - either it's game plan, player cohesion, coach disconnect, lack of confidence, or a combination, and it's frustrating the supporter base, and all they care about is results. Supporters pay the bills and they want to see success and at the very least things starting to turn for the better. We've been teased, given undelivered 'promises' and starved of success for decades. And we are all experts at what the team should be doing better, so why aren't they doing it? Cmon Blues, Lift!

So you're in favour of keeping things as they are, not changing anything around? Interesting...
I'm in favour of the right thought process leading to the right action. If changes will make things worse, then why bother ? I'm not saying they will, but I cannot see how an approach of "hey what does this button do?" is going to help us. The right action may simply be allowing the players and coaches to rectify the issues.
John Kennedy Sr has, through no fault of his own, ushered in a very questionable policy that doing something is better than doing nothing. Except if you have no clue, then the action can make things worse.
