Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 12 2026 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Geelong
There is a fair bit of wailing and gnashing of teeth over the "goal that wasn't" amongst Geelong folk and some media commentators.
"Cost them the game"
There was deflection, on the part of Scott, who "didn't want to dwell on it" all through the parts of his press conference that I saw.

If that had occurred in the last minute of the game that might have had some validity, even then Cripps probably would have bobbed up and kicked two instead of one :D  :D

But occurring when it did, it opened up "multiple universes" where a whole range of results became possible.

If Geelong couldn't beat a bottom 4 side without relying on a 'missed' goal then they didn't deserve the win  -  but it was a handball so doesn;t count anyway,  but nobody mentions that.

Great Win.      I think this just reinforces though what I, and some others,  have been saying for a few months now.
1.    Voss can't coach
2.    Voss had lost a large portion of the playing group  -  they didn't want to play for him,  the effort just wasn't there.

3/3  since his departure says a lot about that,  GW and co are probably now regretting the decision to let him continue into this year.

This win over one of the flag fancies just shows what our group is capable of once their heart is back in it.
Really mate?

Yes really...
Apparently  Adam Simpson is going to Josh Fraser's house tomorrow for a barbeque.
Coincidence?....

To give but one example : pushing a guy into the fence, then apologizing, then as result giving away a free kick from the goal square, so effectively two goals within seconds to the opposition - this is your idea of showing "passion and pride in playing for the CFC jumper'?

To say nothing of the fact that he is likely to be rubbed out for a time.
He is young and was probably incredibly frustrated being put under immense pressure again - IIRC that was the 5th incoming goal in a 5 minute period.

Not good enough by our snr players and our coach and coaching staff - not even close!

Interesting summary,  and i agree with most of the points he raises...
But many here probably won't,,     all the deniers here who think we're travelling ok and just need some minor tweaks and give MV another 3-4 years...

Of course it doesn't,   and physically and mentally not every player is going to be like that...    I was trying in a round about way to say we need more in the team to show that kind of passion and pride in playing  for the CFC jumper -  which seems to be lacking with some of the more senior players,  at least for a full four quarters.........    and when that happens it becomes a team pandemic unfortunately;  as we see on a weekly basis.   Don't worry, Dean will have the Carlton Way hammered into him in the next few months..

1.   I'm pretty sure he got a fine
2.    I'm referring to his fire and passion in general,   not that particular incident.   He's a young kid still learning the ropes,  his passion is a great attribute imo,  but  his senior teammates will soon show him the error of his ways.

I'd say promote him to captain,  he's one of just a handful in this spineless team who show any fight or mongrel...
And our idiot recruiting manger just continually brings in these same soft, nice guy types year after  year.    Haynes, Florent, Haywood etc etc...   We have a team full of Mr. nice guys who would rather shake hands and hug with mates in the opposition than show a bit of fight and spirit.   MV has tried his heart out for 5 years,  but unfortunately you can't expect corgis to win races against greyhounds..     Time to move on  -  watch this space

Fight and spirit has little to do push and shove.

Will Dean get rubbed out for that push? Hes young he should t have done it, but gee he plays with some vigour 💪🏼

I'd say he will do time. Vossy talked him up in the press conference. Not that incident specifically, but the way Dean goes about it.

In the third qtr, 6 players laid 1 tackle each. 17 players didnt lay a tackle. EOS.

Begs the question... Why?

Because someone just mentioned the reason earlier in this thread.........   the players don't want the coach there......
I bought this up in a post about a year ago,  and so far this year it just reinforces what I said  then   -   there is a definite disconnect between MV and the playing group.   Also,  I don't know  if the entire playing group are connected too,  that may be a separate issue.      We have some talent in the developing list,  we've seen them competitive almost weekly,  but they too easily become dispirited, disinterested and destabilised.    They are not playing for this coach,  it's pretty obvious.    MV should not take all the blame,  there seems to be things going on behind the scenes we don't know about - is my guess.    The silence from GW and CFC is deafening  -  MV will fall first, rightly or wrongly -  I'm certain they are working on this currently and will move when the time is right - if there is such a thing....    IF some senior players are rocking the boat, then GW  hopefully sorts that out also...
CHANGE is needed.

Alistair Clarkson - North Melbourne
15 1 49

Michel Voss - Carlton
47 1 48

Given that some fans believe we are the new St Kilda, Vossy is knocking it out of the park.

Love him or hate him, Clarko has a hefty successful bank account of success to draw upon - Dawks... and he took over an absolute cot-case - Kangabies.

How does Clarkos first 10 years as a senior coach stack up against Vossy's  ;)

I agree,   mostly unfair and irrelevant comparison

The coaching group were replenished 6 months ago but you keep on burning the witches 👍🏼
Bring in the Inquisitors, they always get it right! ;)

The logic in the haters is laughable, they think The List is NBG, the Recruiting staff are NBG, the Medical staff are NBG, the MC is NBG and the Coach is NBG. I suppose after leaving some embers smouldering they now think The CEO is NBG too.

It's all sound logic. :D

It's pointless that I write this in trying to correct the perspective, because they can't think their way through their own arguments.

Actually, I think they aren't thinking at all! :o

Morons and Idiots repeat the same thing over and over again hoping for a better result.
Yea right,   much the same as a broken (LP) record...      Here's an idea,   CFC just stay the current trajectory without changing anything -  let's see where that leads us...

I take what CFC says these days with a grain of salt,  they aren't much better at telling the truth than politicians.    I hope the AFL and AFLPA ensure this is investigated thoroughly and honestly,   Hollands and CFC members/supporters deserve that as a minimum.

I really dont know what you expect them to say. Do people want to hear a story that just mightn't be there?

I don't want to hear anything from CFC that isn't the truth,   ie   no smoke screens,  no diversions,  no bs.    Clubs always come out with this bs that our main concern is for the player, and his welfare.     It's the pc and in vogue thing to say,  because they don't want any bad press that can affect their bottom line,   ie memberships,  sponsorships,   dollars,  dollars,  and more dollars.  It's big business, right.

For a player with Hollands history,  I want them to explain publicly (the truth) as to why he was out on the ground for almost 2 hours of game time,,    and not coaches,  physios,  medical staff, welfare staff,  senior players etc could see that things didn't seem right???   yet outsiders from the media and members of the public were able to...     Because of his (very) recent history of issues,  shouldn't he be a player that deserves extra care / attention / monitoring/ welfare etc etc?    Apparently not....

And also,  just because CFC come out publicly and declare it was caused by a mental health episode ,  doesn't mean that is the complete truth either...

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: AFL Rd 6 2026 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Collingwood

I'm not aware of any hysterical assumptions,  but we can only make  assumptions based on what we saw and heard from that game and the vision of his behaviour is definitely of a person acting very abnormally.    Serious questions need to be asked of CFC coaches as to why they allowed him to be onfield for 90 minutes in that state...   Surely they, and/or some of the senior players must've noticed his unusual behaviour way before 3/4 time.    He is damaged goods and should never have been re-signed.    Once again MV must take responsibilty for this fiasco - he should fall on his sword before he is pushed...

Voss is ultimately responsible, but I think its not fair to lay this at his feet.  Elijah is an adult, responsible for himself.  Where are the leaders in the team making sure this gets the appropriate attention?  Where are the line coaches under Voss telling him that Elijah is not right to play?

Why is the senior coach the one who is in the gun here for the failings of every level?

Our club is a disgrace off field.  Its all good, Brian Cook fixed us...  The club has systemic issues that sit outside of the coach regarding standards, and behaviour, and about the only person exhibiting the right stuff is the guy in the coaches box.

All very valid questions and points that you raised.  You asked why is the senior coach the one in the gun,  but you also answered your own question   "Voss is ultimately responsible"    .    It's not just this incident that he has failed the CFC in,  but so many other coaching issues as well.    He is failing the CFC  and all its' despondent fans too.    He shows us his ineptitude on a regular basis unfortunately.   Time's up
