Re: AFL Rd 19 2025 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Melbourne

I want to give our cheer squad and fans a bit of a clip. I was sitting ponsford stand end and they were so quiet they were almost inaudible. Also Saturday night to only get 40k at the G (a generous 40k at that) isnt good enough and there was plenty of Melbourne colours in the MCC which means only one third of our membership base pulled their finger out in a very winnable game.
Sure, we arent going well, and its easier to stay home when its cold, but the club needs us, the players will see a more empty crowd and feel differently about us too, but one of my other clubs has a saying (in greek). Olympiakos when its easy, Legendary when its difficult. They are nicknamed the legend, so I suppose it should be Carlton when its easy, Blue Baggers in the hard times.
Despite the inappropriate translation, the sentiment is precise. Its easy to be a fair weather supporter, and we need to show that we deserve the big show and the big stage as much as the team does.
Whilst generally I would agree with this it was an extraordinarily cold, dark, miserable night and the traffic was absolutely at a standstill coming off the Eastern and on Hoddle St due to presumably the Mernda and Hurstbridge lines being down due to the track derailment… it took a massive effort to get in last night.
I live in Greensborough.
I get it, its why I won't have a go at any one person for not going, but the ones that were there weren't exactly getting loud. I was not far from the Melbourne cheers quad and they were louder during the game than ours was after goals at times.
I still think we should be getting 50k to a home game at the G. We cant complain about marvel when that happens vs another Melbourne based side.
