RD 15 Jim Park Voting: Carlton vs. Collingwood June 30, 2014, 09:16:16 am Beaten by the Meat Pies. I really hated that. Collingwood supporters haven't changed either. Still coming to a battle of wits unarmed. Nichevo: we still lost.Well, hopefully a few more people will want to vote this week, although I find that unlikely given the crowd at the game.Remember:[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.[3] Give a rating of team performance[4] Votes must add up to 15. Re: RD 15 Jim Park Voting: Carlton vs. Collingwood Reply #5 – June 30, 2014, 09:57:21 pm Team: C-I found it hard to classify this week's result. Basically, we were woeful for considerable periods of the game. However, we managed to get really close to the Pies, who have top 4 pretentions (they are pretenders, but they will never admit it). The bounce of the ball did NOT favour us: it simply bowled over a number of players and ended up in Collingwood hands, but that is another story.Votes:[3] Judd[3] Robinson[3] Yarran[2] Gibbs[1] Curnow[1] Rowe[1] Simpson[0.5] Jamison[0.5] EverittExplanations:[3] Judd: Until Juddy ran out of juice, he was probably the most effective player on the ground. Unfortunately he is not match fit and does not run out the game. Otherwise he would have got 40 possessions.[3] Robinson: For the 3rd week in a row Robbo really made a contribution. And wherever Robbo went carnage followed. Really strong effort.[3] Yarran: Kept his man totally quiet and increased his possession rate as the game went on. His runs were scintillating and his disposal first class.[2] Gibbs: Bryce gave another very good display and really tried his guts out.[1] Curnow: Not back to his best yet, as his opponents are still getting the football, but his run and effort continue to be good.[1] Rowe: Took on the Collingwood talls and beat them. Good effort.[1] Simpson: A slow start and still far from his best, but Simmo did work his way into the game.[0.5] Jamison: Beaten by Cloke, he managed to keep Cloke's effectiveness down and keep him far from goal.[0.5] Everitt: 2 good goals and some really good patches, but some others that made me wonder. Consistency is not Andrejs' main attribute.Honourable Mentions:Warnock: much improved on recent weeks, but still a long way below his best. He did much better at the centre bounce, but Witts (My God, how could that happen!?) beat him around the ground. Also, for all of his dominance, we lost out badly around the packs.Walker: Andrew is sort of marking time at the moment: he isn't anywhere near as effective as he would like to be, but he is giving a yelp and getting his share of ball.Tuohy: Zac actually kept his opponents down pretty well, but he didn't have much influence himself. We need to get the ball into his hands more often.Carrazzo: Carrots wasn't his usual self, but he did quite a reasonable job at slowing down their ball winners. Henderson: Hendo couldn't buy a possession for the first 3 quarters, but his last quarter was a totally different beast. All of a sudden his hands started to stick the ball and his kicking improved. Hopefully he can take that into next week.Thomas: Daisy did quite a reasonable job as a semi defensive forward. He really gave a damn.Others:I don't normally mention those who really had shockers, but a couple of guys really stood out today and need to be mentioned:Armfield: Probably his worst ever game, Dennis could touch anything without it screwing up. He didn't seem to care and made mistakes a player of his experience simply shouldn't. His pace just wasn't there either.Menzel: put in a lot more effort than Armfield did, but it just didn't work for him. he was kept out of it too easily for too long, even though he did try.McLean: Broke had a real shocker and just couldn't get near the ball.
