Clean Energy/Renewables stocks have tanked in the USA after the Trump victory, he of course supports more traditional energy and infrastructure models. Trump, who has denied that the climate is changing as a result of burning fossil fuels, is expected to upend green policies implemented by the current administration, which include solar tax credits and incentives that were part of incumbent President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
Its a backward step and he needs those close to him to advise him to rethink his whole approach and keep pushing ahead with Bidens green policies even if he wants to still support traditional energy infrastructure.
Although Im not holding out much hope with his " drill baby drill" comments..

It's going to be a rather turbulent couple of months.

There will be some genuine concerns from a lot of folk connected with things like science, conservation, justice, defence, the economy
In some cases as these 'experts' flee to greener pastures, some of the more serious concerns will become self-fulfilling as the expertise drains away.

There will also be a lot of 'chicken little', the sky is falling, doom and gloom.
Some of that has already started, as folks predict some real oppresive outcomes...many of which probably wont come to pass.

Making sense of what's real and what's not, will be difficult.
Time will tell the tale.
It could also mean that in some cases these fears will drive the country into further downward chaos.

There is nothing anyone can do to change the inevitable...except maybe a few opponents in the President-elect's own party.
The sensible approach would be to wait and see what actually happens before passing judgment.
But 'sensible' and 'US politics' is incompatible.

Fox is reporting hardcore lefty radicals are training pigeons to fly over and crap on replica Trumps, the plan is once they are trained to infect them with H5 Bird Flu and release them in the grounds surrounding the Whitehouse.

Freaking Demo Left Radicals, you can't trust them, using nature as a weapon!

Clean sweep for Trump, and the election was meant to be close.
Been a debacle from the Democrats, something for Albanese to worry about if the cost of living crisis in the USA has the same effect on voters here in Australia.

only 3m votes in it.

Trump picked up votes, Democrats lost a heap and it also depends on where the votes are gained/lost that matters.  This election it was in the 'swing' electoral colleges.  GOP also has full control of the houses.

While there are some interesting (?) choices about who the Trumpster is appointing, 50% of those who voted will be happy and the other 50% won't!  I will be looking on in interest to see how, for example, Kennedy handles health.

Ultimately, it is just interest for us - and we will continue to shake our heads as we do at some of the US Policies and programs (eg guns, health) no matter who is in.

something for Albanese to worry about if the cost of living crisis in the USA has the same effect on voters here in Australia.

It's a mess.  While no one complains about having $75 taken off their bill, it is silly, because the government paid for it, ultimatley through tax.  What happens next year when they don't do it again?  What structure is in place to permanently reduce the increases in price (they're going to go up, but hopefully by less!)

Inflation has a much deeper and permanent compounding effect than we simply believe:
Price increases by 7% last year, then any indexation is makes it much more expensive: eg inflation for three years is 7%, 4% and 3% vs 4%, 4% and 3% on something that started as $100:

Scenario one: $100 + 7% - $107 + 4% - $111.28 + 3% =$114.62 (3 year inflation of 14.62%)
Scenario two: $100+ 4% - $104+4% - $108.16 + 3% =$111.41 (3 year inflation of 11.41%)

The increase difference 3.21% is more than the initial inflation difference and will keep increasing.

While Australia is lagging in decreasing interest rates, they also lagged in their increase and didn't increase as much as some countries (thinking UK, USA, NZ) - but to keep in this scenario, they would need to start decreasing soon, which isn't looking likely.

It is that other countries are decreasing theirs and we aren't that will also hurt Labor.

Crypto currency is making modern money management different to gauge.

The more inflationary the dollar, the more likely crypto is to rise as its a more finite resource that is tied to something more tangle than numbers on a balance sheet.

This is problematic as it's unregulated also, which means all someone has to do is pull the plug on it and its worthless without someone willing to buy it (crypto).

Everything is difficult to read right now.  We are one proper stoush away from world war 3 which tip the apple cart.

People want to whine about renewable amd whilst you can cripple oil and gases supply lines the resource remains available.  In a renewable energy situation, a paint bomb all of a sudden becomes dire for solar panels, without the destructive power.

Wind is another simple target to kill.

We live in some interesting times. Hopefully it doesn't get too much more interesting.

I reckon the MAGA folk would agree with that assessment. ;)  :D

Seriously though, I reckon he's 'taking the piss' now with his appointments.
It's like he's sitting down and thinking...

Who is the person that is least credentialled for this position...Health Attorney General, Environment and Energy, Defence, Security etc
Who can I appoint that is the exact opposite of the best option.
Who will upset the other side the most.
Who will be the wackiest person in the cabinet?
And he's picking them, just for his own amusement. ::)  >:D

The narrative has flipped from the media right, in particular the narrative coming form News Ltd / Fox.

The irony is that they are now sounding like Trump's enemy, yet it washes over the MAGA faithful like a cool breeze barely mentioned.

Cynics might claim the media profit from fear mongering and they have now identified fear of a rampant Trump is the dominant fear. But I suspect the truth is that Murdoch and others of his ilk were happy to make use of the populist Trump to get the GOP into power, but now that has been achieved Trump has become superfluous to future plans, or perhaps even counterproductive, which to me is confirmed by the commentary since the election!

What will the MAGA faithful do if Trump is kyboshed, and how will the right ever get Trump out of the way?

Trump has looked after his mate Elon to an extent and the 60-100% Tariffs threatened on China have been reduced to a 10% increase, however he has taken it out on his neighbors in Canada and Mexico and hit them with a 25% increase on goods imported into the USA. There will be a flow on effect down here in Aus with the Chinese wanting to pay less for our resources and hit us up for more for their goods but its not the mayhem that was predicted pre election and to me its clear Trumps impending reign of terror will be a watered down version of what was promised.

I wonder if anyone has tried to explain to Aurangzeb that it is American importers who will pay the tariffs and not the exporters.  Of course, American consumers will carry the tab and the only beneficiaries will be the US Treasury and inefficient producers.

It’s a bit like the myth of Mexico paying for the wall.
It's still the Gulf of Mexico, Don Old!
