It’s illegal for a president-elect to deal with other governments … not that illegality would worry Aurangzeb.

The likely ceasefire is due to pressure from the Biden administration.  Netanyahu doesn’t want to risk the re-supply of military hardware and he knows that he’ll get the green light after the inauguration.

I'm not sure who gets the kudos here.
It's on Biden's watch but Trump can also claim it's because he's about to be in charge.

It was always going to be the case.
Trumps next stint won't be half as bad as those on the left predict.
There'll still be lots to get upset about, but the extreme predictions will be way off.

For those on the right...things won't be half as good as they predict.
They're still be lots to be happy about, but generally their lives won't improve dramatically.

A few crazies in the administration will 'make hay' for a little while.
But Trump will probably end up sacking them if they go too extreme.
He talks the talk but he's not a man of action, it's more about image for him.

In the end no-one will feel really satisfied, except Donald, who can now get back to the golf course with most of his legal worries behind him.

IMHO doesnt need to.

When people can read the landscape, there is a cause and effect.  Biden sat by idly doing nothing whilst that war waged. I actually think that Trump will be more sympathetic to Israel, which may have encouraged Hezbollah to come to the negotiating table.

Attribution of any of this to Biden is rubbish anyway, he is the outgoing president in less than 2 months, and the war has been ongoing there for over a year.  Within a month of the leadership change announcement, geo-politics react, irrsepective of whom does what.  I wouldnt attribute to Trump, but the decision to elect him is important.  I.e.  Lets say Biden brokered the deal, its worse for him, because he is only doing so to set up the republicans to fail if it blows up again once Donny is back in power.  Its a move that limits his ability to claim kudos and thats it, but why did it take so long for it to come to pass, and lets not pretend it was a "work in progress".

Biden didn’t “sit by doing nothing”.

His administration has worked constantly to temper Israel’s aggression while supporting them against almost universal condemnation and convincing Iran to limit its response.

The ceasefire is down to Biden and Macron.

Netanyahu knows that he will be let of the leash in the new year and it’s in his interests to regroup, restock the armoury and address domestic unrest.

I'm pretty sure the ceasefire is only for Lebanon, not Gaza. And I'm pretty sure it's because Israel had their ar$es handed to them on a platter in South Lebanon. Those who study these matters know full well that Israel is top notch when it comes to video game-style killing, but ordinary in hand to hand ground combat. Netanyahu has never had and never will have any interest in peace for the region. Neither do Biden, Obama or Clinton. As for the Trump and the Republicans, please.

Do we give the credit to whichever side we favour politically?

I reckon we were always going to see a ceasefire once the election was out of the way.
I reckon Trump was probably urging Bibi to keep it up while the campaigning was ongoing.
"Don't give Biden the glory" so to speak and "we'll look after you after we win".
Hezbollah saw the writing on the wall...the terms of the ceasefire seem to strongly favour the Israelis.

Yes, that’s a very important distinction Paul.  Taking on Hezbollah is a degree of difficulty harder than civilians in Gaza.

Regardless of party or ideology, most American politicians are hawkish in their support of Israel.  Biden ramping up US oil production has removed the fear of oil price rises as a moderating agent.

Of course, Aurangzeb isn’t driven by ideology and wouldn’t recognise one if it slapped him in the face.  He is a transactionalist and is drawn to those who flatter him into thinking that he can make a deal with them; Putin, Xi, Kim Jong-un, Orban, Netanyahu, etc.

Remember when he thought that he could buy Greenland? 🤣

Sorry he stopped short of condemnation like they did to Russia.  The hypocrisy in response in both theatres is palpable, probably because they are more sympathetic to one than the other.

In any case, I dont care, just calling a spade a spade.

I'm not saying Biden isn't hypocritical when it comes to the Middle East.  In fact, you would be hard pressed to find an American politician who isn't guilty of hypocrisy over Israel and its neighbours.

Actually, that's not quite true; Aurangzeb makes no bones about being in lockstep with his buddy Bibi.  A recent article in the Times of Israel stated: 

"The prime minister, who denounced the Biden administration from the Knesset podium this week for its efforts at key junctures over the past year to prevent Israeli military actions in Gaza and against Iran, plainly anticipates that Trump will be more accommodating. He and the president-elect see “eye to eye” on the Iranian threat, Netanyahu announced last week."

Aurangzeb wants Israel to "win the war in Gaza quickly" and doesn't give a fat rat's clacker about what happens to the Palestinians.

I shouldn’t really laugh but it is funny watching MAGAs learn what Aurangzeb’s tariffs will mean for them.

No, the Mexican exporters are paid for their products before they leave Mexico and the American importers pay the tariffs when the products reach America.  They pass those extra costs on to consumers.

“So that means that I’m going to be paying a lot more for tomatoes and avocados?”

Damn right you are and all the other foodstuffs that come from Mexico and Canada are going to cost you heaps.  So much for tackling the rising cost of living.

Meanwhile, American companies operating out of China are starting to relocate their production to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and have no intention of returning production to America.  As my American cousins and buddies are fond of saying, this has all the ingredients of a classic clusterf—k 🙄
