It was more that questions were raised about Dutton’s eligibility to sit in parliament on the basis that the funding ABC received meant that he was a person who “has any direct or indirect pecuniary interest in any agreement with the Public Service of the Commonwealth” and should therefore be disqualified under Sec 44(v) of the Constitution.  Turnbull made considerable mileage out of Dutton’s probable ineligibility during the latter’s leadership challenge.

However, the House never referred Dutton’s eligibility to the High Court, his family trust sold its interest in ABC and his eligibility became moot.

Trump's proving himself to be a d!ckhead of the highest order, there is a reason why you do not target politicians or foreign diplomats for assassination, it's guaranteed to be a zero sum game with nobody winning. Furthermore, a blanket / revenge attack on an independant state would turn a handful of radicals into millions.

If Trump continues to raise the threat level, he will be at more risk from a home grown assassin than a foreign assassin, and furthermore he'll be putting all those around him at risk as well. Elon best have some good protection and advice, because Trump has painted a target on his back for foreign and home grown opponents.

Such radical opponents tend to be quite gutless, they'll go after Trump's family if he makes himself too hard of a target, they pick the low hanging fruit.

Our own homegrown Trump sycophants, Pratt, Reinhart would also want pretty good protection, Trump has made their world far more dangerous, if only he had watched a few more French Revolution documentaries than the Fox News feed.

So I doubt Trump will get any support within his government for active involvement across borders, unless they have a specific criminal target that is globally sanctioned like Osama bin Laden who was basically an Arab state insider gone rogue. He's becoming more of a big pink Kim as each day passes.

Dangerous territory.

By saying as much, and backing Israel, he encourages people to choose a side.  He has effectively said the USA will do it for Israel by proxy as a peace keeping force ala every other skirmish that has come before.

We will see an opposition to this, but the question is, how big, and who from.

While we can all be outraged at what the POTUS proclaims and/or threatens, don’t lose sight of the fact that he is a pathological liar and, like all bullies, backs down when confronted … as he did when Trudeau and Claudia Sheinbaum threatened retaliatory tariffs.

That America would be involved in any re-build was a given.
To relocate and look after a total population was probably also going to be necessary while a rebuild occurs.

To make that relocation permanent and assume control of the area, also on a permanent basis, is a step too far.
Was the suggestion half hearted and just another bit of Trumpism?...maybe.

The thing of concern was that while he was speaking Bibi was grinning like the cat who swallowed the canary.
He'll be right there pushing it along.
Nothing would make Israel feel more secure than a strong military presence sitting alongside it in Gaza.

Trump is just playing politics and will use the threat of taking over Gaza as a concession he can withdraw and use later to bargain with. If he did take over Gaza it would be to build an airport/airstrip and probably a seaport, Israel had interest in building a man made island off Gaza a while back to facilitate such developments.
The Israeli Government are luke warm on Trumps ideas and have little faith he will follow through and officials from the Pentagon Military departments had no knowledge of his plans so I wouldnt be buying any tickets to Trumps Gaza Riviera opening night anytime soon..

Interesting to hear of a recent report from the AMA regarding US Cause of Death in the years following the pandemic.

The leading cause of death in the USA is now disinformation regarding Medicines and Medical Treatment. The two leading sources of disinformation were listed as Donald Trump and a former Democrat employee called Naomi Wolf.

Epidemiological and genetic evidence indicates that the COVID pandemic likely began at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market and did not come from a laboratory.

Whatever his motives or the strength of his commitment, there's one thing he's got right....
Gaza is an absolute mess in terms of the destruction.

There's understandably a defiance in the Palestinian people in that they want to stay in 'their' land.
But what does that look like?

Before any rebuild commences
-hostilities have to cease permanently.
-hostages need to be released.

Once the rebuild commences it will be years before some semblance of normality returns.
-It will take some time to restore basic utilities.
-It will take longer to rebuild things like houses and the associated infrastructures-shops, schools hospitals.
-That probably means years spent in camps with limited resources, depending on others for essentials.
-It's unlikely,as they endure these hardships, their affection for those that caused the destruction will grow.

And once it's all rebuilt.
It'll just take one small spark and it will be on again.
Trump's suggestion of an American 'takeover' may be ridiculous.
So is a return to the pre October 7th situation.
Something needs to be done differently.
