VFL Rd3: Northern Blues vs. Port Melbourne April 18, 2016, 10:58:33 pm With Carlton in Perth this weekend, drop down to Preston City Oval at 1400 on Saturday and you get to see the Baby Blue strut their stuff.Mind you, Port beat us only a couple of weeks back, but I expect the team to be significantly different. Could be a very interesting line-up with the possible return of Walker and maybe more. Quote Selected

A reasonable conjecture, as we have NOT played all of our emergencies in the VFL once yet. One or 2 to go West would be almost certain, possibly all 3. However, there will be a few guys back; Silvagni, most probably Walker, also a good chance of Everitt getting up. Wood was NOT mentioned in dispatches as being injured, so must also be highly probable to play.On the other hand, Foster may well end up in the Development game, as his numbers have not been great and we now have something vaguely like a functional forward line in the VFL. This is a Carlton team you are talking about here. VAGUELY like a functional forward line. More vague than anything else, but with our tall forwards actually kicking goals it cant be TOO bad. That said, we need more from the small and mid forwards and more scoring from the midfielders (like the good teams actually do). But it appeared to work better than the forward line in seniors has been (not an impossible task by any means).Foster ended up in defence, but that was because he didn't fit into the forward half and Jamo didn't play. If Jamo actually plays, then Foster at CHB is superfluous. Of the defenders, White was the most impressive. If he gets promoted, there still isn't really a spot for Foster. He hasn't shown the ability to read the ball to take on a mid sized forward. Quote Selected

Re: VFL Rd3: Northern Blues vs. Port Melbourne Reply #7 – April 20, 2016, 08:45:16 pm I hope he is right. But I can't see it at the moment. To me, he looks like one of the most probable delistees, come season's end. I thought that Liam Jones had that position firmly in his hands, but he can surprised me hugely. Whether he can continue and actually make the grade as a senior footballer, well, who knows? But I would have bet against it just 3 weeks ago. Quote Selected
