The AFL won't give us a priority pick.

The AFL think we are tanking, and they refuse to reward such behaviour!

But you can expect a priority pick for Brisbane this year, jot it in now!

The AFL think we are tanking? Can you please back that up with something?

Surely you can't just throw that line out there without any comment to back it up. There has to be some standard even on a forum.

He is a Priddis/Mitchell...an extractor who wants to give the ball off.....he needs some more kegs on the frame, he gets pushed of the ball then is reaching around/fumbling the ball at times because
he doesnt have the body strength to hold his ground....he is a good player in the making IMO.

fair enough he's  small and needs to beef up.... but even when he gets it in the open he wants to dish off instead going for a run

( that goes for most of our team they don't back themselves to take the game on )

Fisher has it all in front if him, blokes like kerridge, Smedts have no upside.  Can't believe the handling errors Kerridge makes.  As bad a game as Simmo has ever played.

Really worried about Weeters.

DrE is no more... you ok with that harmonica man?

Plus our 1st rounders have been ok players but not game changing gun players....Weitering looking very shaky too as a No 1 pick...

Murphy, Gibbs and Kreuzer are all very good players in my opinion and would be even better in a better team, at Carlton half of the workload falls to half a dozen players but hopefully that's slowly changing.
I'm not in the least concerned about Weitering, I think he'll be a fine player for many years to come.
I agree with you about Fisher, another 30 or so games and he'll be fine.
The only thing in this world worth more than a hill of beans is the Carlton Football Club.

How else do you explain so many years of poor performance and bottoming without AFL assistance?

It has to be that the AFL think our predicament is our own doing, as Lods mentioned it's the only logical outcome. All you need to back it up, is the lack of previous AFL support.

We should call the AFL's bluff and hand back the keys!

Since Jones got good I've been checking his stats each week to see how many 1% he racked up ;D

He's been smashing it...usually double anyone else.
Not this week.... Weitering's done him 11-8 :D

Was Weitering's best game for some months, I hope he gets back to where we thought he was heading last season!

Hooker could have kicked six on him, I thought he started ok but got worse as the game went on and in the last quarter lost contact with Hooker physically and looked
very shaky, fumbled marks and cost us goals IMO..I know he is a kid and still learning but he has regressed this season IMO and I blame the move up forward.
He is not the player he was before that shoulder injury either...he looks shy of contact like he doesnt want to get hurt, took a couple of nice marks during the game like the old JW but in the last quarter like I said he fell apart IMO...

Agree with all that and as you said he's only a kid. The talent that we saw last year is still there. A good preseason and some more strength and he'll be right so long as there's no more moves to the forward line.

I'll also add Marchbank to my comments....equally out of touch if not worse than Weitering and his normally strong marking which is the feature of his game was also poor....delivery by foot isnt his strong point but I thought it was highlighted today by some poor decision making.
I think young players need to come back after injury via the twos to get touch and confidence back and in JW"s case he needed resting a while back, I know we have injuries to ACOS and Rowe but
we need to look after our young players and adjust when necessary. I'd be be getting Cam OShea on the rookie list next season and having some backup given ACOS will probably get promoted to the senior list.

In an ideal world I think you would bring them back via the two's however the cupboard is bare for replacements. Longer term it may serve them better to do it hard in the firsts in any case.

I saw and heard bid and pieces. We were 5 goals down  during the putrid first quarter.  To get back in front
- did Bolton change things (move players,  change game plan,  other? )
 - was it player lead?, if so, who were the players who lifted
- did we simply start playing as requested by Bolton?

With regard to Simpson, I'm  not sure the slow chip around suits him. He has to me seemed better with getting the ball, carrying and kicking long,  not chipping 7.5 meter kicks, stop and do it again.

Good fight back and resolve shown by the players to claw their way back and wrestle control of the game. It is very a good sign for a young team to completely stop the opposition in their tracks the way we did and control the game.

Weitering - definition of shot right now, looked shot before i went overseas a month ago and is looking worse. Unfortunately has regressed this season for mine and really hope he get back on track.

Marchbank - unfortunately his good is good but when he is off he looks like a Paul Bower clone, everything goes out the window, marking, kicking and decision making.

Charlie - keeps looking better and getting stronger as the season gets longer which is unusual, already up there alongside Cripps now as our two franchise players at the club.

Pickett - if only his disposal and decision making could improve we have to find a way to keep that pace in the side.

Petrevski-Seton might have something to say about that, his first season has been as good as any I can remember in my 50+ years following the Blues.

Have noticed this for some weeks but reckon something is brewing inside the club regarding contracts.

The older guys such as Simmo, Murphy and Gibbs refuse to lift when the game has been on the line over the last 6 weeks all 3 just play at the same rate....last year that was a quality our senior players had.

Could it be Bolton has told all 3s futures will be discussed at years end and no one is safe? And don't forget Kreuzer has yet to re sign and Cas has already said he is looking around.

Apart from Kreuzer the older guys are not the same players as they were last year and please don't give me this crap that they can no longer do it.

Reading between the lines Shawny?
It may well be the changing of the guard and these guys are the collateral damage.
Kroooozer will resign but it will be just our luck we will lose an AA ruckman  ::) along with our leading goal kicker.... again.
