2018 Jim Park Voting Rd 15: Carlton vs Port Adelaide

Hopefully there will be players to reward this week. (I deserve punishment for my spelling! Last week I spelt like a Collingwood Banner!)

Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F.
[4] Votes must add up to 15.

I'll be at this one. I hope the boys turn up.

Not quite as good as last week, but still a mighty effort considering what we have available. With makeshift backlines and midfields we had a number of real contributors, while a handful others continue to underperform.

Votes:
[3]   Kade Simpson
[3]   Charlie Curnow
[2.5]   Paddy Cripps
[1.5]   Marc Murphy
[1.5]   Liam Jones
[1]   Sam Rowe
[1]   Ed Curnow
[0.5]   Andrew Phillips
[0.5]   Jed Lamb
[0.5]   Zac Fisher

Explanations:
[3]   Kade Simpson:   37 possessions and a fantastic effort from the 300 game player.
[3]   Charlie Curnow:   Charlie showed for the 2nd week in a row just how good he is.
[2.5]   Paddy Cripps:   Took on Ollie Wines and won.
[1.5]   Marc Murphy:   A solid return from the Captain, with 28 classy disposals and time in defence.
[1.5]   Liam Jones:   The best tall defender on the ground, Jones was dominant for most of the day (until the rain came, where he started fumbling). His opponent got a couple of goals, but didn’t really affect the game. Jones, on the other hand, really provided drive from defence.
[1]   Sam Rowe:   An excellent effort from Sam Rowe, although he also didn’t play as well when the rain came.
[1]   Ed Curnow:   A solid effort from Ed, especially after half time.
[0.5]   Andrew Phillips:   Not great early, where he got thrashed, he came back to dominate the ruck after half time and kick a goal. I’d give him more votes if I could, as he stood up in the most possible way and beat a guy who usually plays well against us.
[0.5]   Jed Lamb:   Very solid and consistent in defence.
[0.5]   Zac Fisher:   Not really enough from Zac, although he got a fair bit of the ball in the end. However, most of his possessions ended up in scoring opportunities fr us.

Honourable Mentions:
Jarrod Pickett:      Not enough and not enough intensity all up, but a huge improvement all the same. He was robbed of 2 goals. If he can up the intensity and the tackles, like he did early in the season, then he will really be worth his spot.
Matthew Wright:   Very good in patches, especially in the 1st quarter, but he also lacked intensity at times and was caught ball watching more than once.
Matthew Kennedy:   Still underperforming in the centre square, but is slowly picking up his game around the ground. He made a couple of crucial mistakes, but his effort was a sign of things to come.
Nick Graham:   Brilliant early, Nick died out of the game. However, his 1st quarter was brilliant and he got every centre clearance that we had in the first half.

HM Rowe and Jonesy. Garlett - another "nearly" game. Hopefully he'll pull it together in the next couple of games.

I reckon Pickett's presence will be a huge boost for Garlett.... hopefully he finds some intensity but also up to BB to get the bloke involved in the play more...
Finals, then 4 in a row!

If Garlett's 2 pts had of been gls (both nearly were!) I think a lot more folks would have had him in their better players. He looked dangerous for most of the game and racked up 17 possessions which is probably his best effort for us.
