VFL Rd 8: Northern Blues vs Sandringham at Marvel

This game is a curtain raiser to the Carlton vs St Kilda game. It gives us a chance to peruse the kids.

The team won't line up anything like this: the 4 guys that make the senior interchange have to come out yet. However, the team is not looking too bad.
Then again, it could be considerably stronger if more players were fit.

Up by 16 pts at half time. Live on Ch7. Kerr has a couple, as does Owies. Setterfield getting a few touches too.

Polson, Garlett, Lebois usual non performers. None have body or Brain or the ability to make it. All hacks.

All 3 must be cut at years end. Enough chances.

McCreddie, setterfield and O’Brien are next on the chopping block if they don’t improve. Miles off at this stage. Can’t believe all 3 played in the firsts last week.  :o

Disappointing display considering the start.

Our young players are one paced and lack urgency. Too soft and just don’t work hard enough, add in very average disposals and bloody hard to win many games. 

Lang and Kerr were solid.

Interesting what the commentators were saying how the Blues ball delivery fell apart under pressure - this happens to all sides but particularly at Carlton. You see the same in the senior's as well. That and the lack of run and pressure at the opposition ball carrier. Fix those and you have a much better side.

Phillips was effective, but he wouldn't be able to do that at AFL level (just taking the ball out of the ruck unopposed at will).
