To pull a figure out of my butt there’s probably 1% that should be incarcerated for life, the rest can be constructive humans but money and programs need to be funded now, in the long term they are heaps cheaper than building more prisons that take us back to the “better” criminals.

Nailed it.
The cost of keeping someone in prison each day is quite steep when you account for all the factors that go into that incarceration.
Prisons can essentially be "schools of crime".
Education and diversion programs are the way to go.
Catch them before they enter the 'system'
You won't save everyone but you'll possibly save some money and grief and set the kids on a different path.

Today we celebrate the 100th anti jew protest in Melbourne. A few other protest groups are going to turn out to support their milestone.
Nice day to to take the family out to the city.

The protesters today are the fascists and anti-fascists.

The Free Palestine march is on Sunday, as usual.  The senior police officer who was speaking on the wireless about Melbourne's weekend of protests said that, unlike the fascists and anti-fascists, the 98 Free Palestine marches held so far were virtually trouble free and a model of how peaceful protests should be conducted.

He also encouraged people not to cancel CBD visits as the police would maintain tight control of the fascists and anti-fascists, including increased security for the Camp Sovereignty folk.

A friendly and hopefully one off reminder that conflating "the Jews" with the state of Israel and Zionism, in whatever guise, is 100% antisemitism.

While that’s true Paul, the recent report on antisemitism did just that. 

I don’t know where that leaves the many Jewish folk who are opposed to Netanyahu’s genocide.

After 98 pro-Palestine marches, would the organisers accept that their marches won’t change anyone’s mind or convince the Government to shift policy?

The Royal Children's Hospital CEO has just cancelled a Children and War seminar because it might compromise staff safety.

Two RCH doctors claimed that a body opposing antisemitism complained about the event.  A doctor who was due to speak at the event says she was told it was cancelled "because of Gaza".

I suspect the organizers already know.

In a properly functioning modern democracy, this is exactly the sort of thing that must be upheld and protected. The simple fact is that there are increasing numbers of people that don't actually like democracy. They certainly like the rhetorical and moral appeal of the word, and they certainly like a tailored, very narrow form of democracy that benefits them and doesn't interfere with their day, but they don't really like a proper democracy, which by its very nature is diverse, inclusive, multicultural, slow, inefficient, inconvenient, pluralistic and precisely includes the voices and values of individuals and groups that you don't like. Everyone gets a seat and the table and everyone gets to have their say, with appropriate limits on discourse. Increasing numbers of people think this is all a load of woke crap. They want a one man show, someone who is going to simplify complex problems to the point of absurdity, and offer totally fake, ill considered solutions that follow the well trodden paths of demonizing, scapegoating etc. They don't want inconvenience, discussion, debate etc. That's too slow, irritating and a waste of time.

What action would that be ?Military, Economic, expelling their embassy staff?

I think its working then.  The stance of the Aussie government has changed significantly since it started. 

Ultimately its always a mixed bag of why people do these things.  I think its generally OK for it to continue.  Particularly when its a peaceful protest march.  Otherwise people who feel like doing something, might do something less peaceful as an alternative.
