Anyone seen the list of restricted items and bag rules for the NRL (Gridiron) game?
Very restricted,  no food or drink, no solid drink bottles, must be soft plastic and empty.
No ipads, binoculars (unless small). Bags of only a small size and must be clear. Etc etc
Bring in rules like this to AFL games and i hand in my membership I think.

NRL is rugby.

Gridiron is the NFL.

re ipads and binoculars.....thats because they can be used to help teams on the ground. Teams have ipads, but for pictures only, no video allowed. Showing video of how a play was run, and being able to 'draw' on the screen to illustrate such things is a valuable learning tool for teams.
The binoculars is probably due to 'sign stealing' and lip reading.
There's a good doco on why this is a thing and how it helps teams by 'cheating' and reading opposition plays.

You'll notice coaches calling plays to the QB via a headset, when he does so, he covers his mouth with the play card so you can't read his lips.....because people are 100% trying.


As for the food, drink and bags......not sure if thats an NFL thing, or if its a terrorist thing.
I didn't have those problems when i saw NFL matches in the US.
Who knows.

Couldn't bring anything in at MLB or NHL in Canada in May (hand bags allowed). $20 CAD for a beer was enough to not drink, although all stadium food & drinks were very expensive.

It's amazing how events expose bullsh1t.

The NRL has always claimed it outrates the AFL, gets bigger crowds, more viewers, earn bigger dollars, bigger sponsors, etc., etc.. in particular Vlandys has been a champion in the best style of Trump. FWIW, he's done much the same with NSW horse racing trying to go head to head with the VRC.

Tonight the NRL will play a prelim, broadcast on Channel 9, Sunday afternoon they play another prelim, broadcast on Channel 9. Vlandys had the golden opportunity to go head to head with the AFL on the AFL's marquee day and he blinked.

It's always best to never ask a question unless you know the answer, but it might be even better to never ask a question when you do!

Vlandys is about as genuine as a boxing match between Paul Gallen and Nelson Asofa-Solomona!

I doubt he'd put a prelim up against our Grand Final.
We wouldn't do the same if the opportunity presented itself...but we're usually a week ahead.
At this stage of the year it would be about both codes maximising their viewership...especially for their most important games.
They don't want to get into a contest for viewers.

V'landys's focus extends beyond Australia.
He wants the 20 teams...
But he's looking to conquer the World :D
