The season is switched around up there and you play in the summer, which is brutal when it's humid. I'd start hydrating the night before, and then all morning before the game, and after the game on a Saturday we'd head to the pub to rehydrate. Most weeks I wouldn't take a leak until 10pm or something stupid like that. Has been 15 years or so since I was up there, so can't remember how early it starts getting uncomfortable, but I know it gets really nasty the closer you get to christmas. From memory shouldn't be too bad in August. Should be quite nice. Quote Selected 1 Likes Liked by: northernblue

A long run at training during the wet was 4 km - I'd come back to Melbourne and peel off 16 km in the dry heat. I used to lose about 3 kg playing. Once you heat up, you just can't cool down, it's nuts. My eyes used to get all scabby and caked up from the sweat, that was the worst part, you'd hit the showers and your eyes would be burning from the salt. It was hard yakka. Probably won't get them all but if we get 4 we may then play Brisbane, a toughie, in the last game for a finals spot.At this time of the week I trust Carlton. As the game gets closer my trust gradually dwindles until the bounce, when trust is all gone...lol. Quote Selected

Owies, Lang, Polson and Moore get good reviews...gulp.Could Polson be developing into our Caleb Daniels???29. Cameron PolsonCam Polson was one of our better players on the ground again. His ability to run and burst from half back and take the game on was brilliant. His ball use was fantastic: even though there was a bit of space on the ground, he used it really dangerously but his ability to find a target even when under pressure set us up. Reply #81 – August 19, 2020, 12:38:36 pm Apologies.....when I suggested Betts for a rest it was purely based on his output in recent weeks....at that point I was oblivious to the fact it was the Indigenous Round....certainly hope nobody was offended. Absolute certainty to play. Quote Selected 2 Likes Liked by: townsendcalling, DJC

Reply #84 – August 19, 2020, 02:18:13 pm Might be tough for marking players, probably still 27°C at game time, dry and not too bad at 74% humidity but after sunset it might still become a bit of a slippery pill.Haven't watched much of the Suns lately, not sure what to expect. Although I saw some highlights that suggest Stuart Dew has probably eaten a couple of the GCS reserves players! Quote Selected

Reply #85 – August 19, 2020, 02:21:19 pm Sounds like Martin, Cunningham and Pittonet could be all available.....IMO it would be Honey, Cottrell and Kennedy (injured) out....unless Cottrell stays in for Simpson who's rested. Cunningham was good in the wet/slippery conditions against North about 3-4 weeks ago. Quote Selected

They have had a fab year, dont doubt their improvement one bit but I feel our best is better than their best. Having said that (this applies to all the remaining games):- We must not give them a start- We must be switched on for 4 qtrs- We must put last weeks win behind us, hopefully they did that the next day- Our indigenous boys need to play blinders- We must not fark this up at the selection table.I look at last Sat nights win as a watershed moment, the run home can see us put to rest demons of the past, its all between the ears.
