Lucky Cummins is captain, Boland sure to be dropped!

So what’s the problem with Starc again?

He’s clearly past his best but, if used correctly, I think that he can be a weapon for a while to come, particularly if he has someone like Boland in the attack with him.

Despite Starc, Cummins, Lyon and Hazelwood being the most successful test bowling quartet, I’m not sure that Cummins and Hazelwood necessarily provide the best environment for Starc to thrive.  An all rounder with a frugal, metronomic action to stifle scoring perhaps 🤔

That's the best I've seen Starc bowl for a long time, he bowled very intelligently and looked dangerous for multiple ball each over.
Boland very stiff, threatened both edges.
Cummins better but still short of a run - still a bit short
Marsh lucky not really required.

Batting looks a lot better when the top order stick around, but Khawaja is clearly close to the end.

That was a much better effort from Labuschagne and McSweeney.  Twofer at stumps and the Indians would think they were in with a chance.  Onefer and the seeds of doubt will be germinating.

We have to build on that and, hopefully, bat for a couple of days.

I think that the conditions and situation suited Starc Prof; day-nighter, not a lot of overs to bowl, Boland and the other bowlers keeping the pressure on, and the Indian batters trying to bash their way out of trouble.  He did bowl some genuine jaffas.

I tell you who is taking the piss, the faux all-rounder from WA .. if he's in the best six batters in the country, I'm Swedish.  Contributing less than F all ATM.

That was a weird dismissal; the umpire gave him out because he started to walk but the only contact was bat on pad.  Strange that Head didn't tell him to review.

Head's innings is just brutal batting; great to watch!

I reckon Head won't hold back now that Carey has gone.

>350 would be a decent total and the second new ball might help us get there and beyond.  India starting their second innings a bit after tea would be ideal.

And just a little feeling between Head and Shiraj following a pretty pathetic send off after Head smashed 140 off 141 deliveries!

Batting on after tea is ideal for us ... but how good is Bumrah?
