VFL Rd 3 2022 Carlton vs Gold Coast Suns

Like last week, getting information about who is going to play tomorrow is not easy. I understand that we've taken a 'squad' to the Gold Coast and that they've already arrived in Queensland, but how many and who ... different tale.

The Gold Coast are also unbeaten at this point.

Mirkov barely spent 1/2 the 1st-Qtr on the ground, we ended up rucking JGM!

I'm all for female umpires, but FFS, let the boundary umpires come in 10m or 15m to throw it in, it's crazy at a stoppage besides the behind post to have a female umpire with a short throw in.

Can't see Boyd holding Stocker out of the team for much longer!

Shortage of umpires Australia wide.

Yep, suburban and amateurs have taken to playing games into the night so that senior umpires can double up with a daytime and evening game and get a rest in-between. It's a serious situation.

But let's not make the job of those who do harder just for the sake of tradition, let the boundary umpires come in a few steps if they want to so that we at least get the pill in a reasonable distance from the boundary line.

Glass-McCasker has been sharing the ruck duties with Mirkov.  He's handy and gives a contest.
It's still the Gulf of Mexico, Don Old!

Our fill ins are starting to struggle a bit, we are losing a bit of run and carry around the football.

We burnt 2 or 3 opportunities that 3rd-Qtr that really should have been easy goals.

Has Dow been injured or have we pulled him out early?

A few of these VFL listed boys have been looking very good in all games this year.

Didn’t play q4 either.
No late AFL changes. Maybe an injury or precaution?

Cotterell did has chances for a call up no harm. Sealed it in q4 with 2 goals I think

Stocker looked very comfortable. His stats a bit skewed due to kick in duties against a team unable to kick straight today.

After being challenged in q3, 5.5 in q4 is a convincing result. Hope our seniors can do that when the pressure mounts late in games

Really like Xavier M.'s game. Certainly putting his hand up for that mid year spot on our list.
Stocker a stand-out as well.
Dow dominant but still something missing in his game. Looks like he's inured or managed as he didn't play the final qtr.
Mirkov coming along nicely, but still needs plenty of Magoos' time. Impressed with is his disposal by hand and foot.
Cottrell was good until the final qtr, when he was brilliant!
Newnes gets plenty of the aggot but decisions and disposal are only okay.
Love how the seconds game is so consistent with the firsts.
Parks is close. Great attitude and second efforts. Disposal by foot needs work.
Good to see JGM getting amongst it. Good seconds player  ;)
Crocker has adjusted to the new game plan nicely. Robbed of a late goal by JGM's fumble on the goal line.

Great effort from the boys. Top of the VFL table at the moment.
Looking forward to getting along to a seconds game soon... Up for a pie fest Ye Rat O' The River?

Dow: 23 possessions and 7 clearances and didn't play the full game.
Cottrell: 20 Possessions and 2 goals.
Newnes: 28 possessions

All good signs, but it was the VFL boys who really stood up today:
David Handley: 25 possessions, 5 tackles and 5 clearances: his first game for the year.
Zavier Maher: 28 possessions, 6 tackles and 3 clearances
Joel Trudgeon: 25 possessions, 5 tackles and 5 clearances
Cooper Stephens: 24 possessions
Ned Cahill: 20 possessions and 6 tackles
Ben Crocker: 20 possessions and 4 goals
This is very good!
